Rationale and Course Description


Networks and Communications is designed to develop knowledge, skills, and
attitude of students. It covers installing and configuring computer systems, setting- up
computer networks, setting- up computer servers, maintaining and repairing computer
systems and networks.
Learning Outcomes
In this course, the students should be able to:
a. differentiate straight through Ethernet cable from crossover Ethernet
cable
b. construct straight through and crossover Ethernet cables
c. understand and Interpret IP addresses
d. configure computers for IP Networking
e. configure a terminal with a gateway address
f. assess hardware and software requirements for servers and client
computers based on performance
