Cassava Starch Based Bioplastic ,

a Potensial Solution for

Microplastic Problem

Why Enviplast is urgently needed?
• Plastic waste problem in land : Although
plastic consumption in Indonesia is
relatively low, 10 kg/year/capita, due to
land scarcity, poor waste management , low
plastic recycle capability especially for
flexible packaging , our environment is
endangered
• Plastic waste in marine area : As an island
country Indonesia with a very large coastal
line - 54710 km long - and 240 million
population, a plastic waste runoff from
dense populated area to the open sea ,
caused an estimated contribution of *12 %
to the global marine plastic waste ,
creating microplastic formation .

ENVIPLAST® does not have to be classified and has no obligatory
labeling requirement for acute oral toxicity according to the Globally
Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) of
the United Nations (2011) and Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 on

Conclusion
• The biodegradable Enviplast being at an infant state, can be
considered as a part of the medium term microplastic reduction
strategy.
• An infrastructure such as a composting facility will be needed as an
integral waste reduction strategy.
