Statement of Purpose

My sister plays an instrumental role in my taking up an academic career in computer science and
technology. A technical engineer with an American multinational software company providing open-
source software products to the enterprise community, she inspired in me an awe and passion for
computers. While we would often talk about the latest developments and advancements taking place
in different fields of computers and how they are revolutionizing every walk of human life, I was
always stunned to know how vast and ever-evolving a domain of computer technologies is and would
marvel at the scope and plethora of opportunities it offers. Pursuing Bachelor’s in Computer
Engineering not only made me more passionate about my chosen stream but also led me to zero in
on my further course of academic and professional career.

I have benefited vastly from the breadth of my Bachelor’s coursework and gained an overarching
exposure to different realms of computer science. As a student I have always laid emphasis on and
striven for hands-on learning. I am glad to state that several projects, an internship experience,
practical assignments and certification courses have allowed me to gain a good insight into different
aspects of miscellaneous areas.

I was sponsored by Acme IT solution LLP, Nashik for my final year project which is based on
Augmented Reality, it is a mobile application made for entertainment purpose. The product was made
for user entertainment using augmented reality to provide them with a totally unique immersive
experience and in a photo-realistic digital experience. The underlying technologies of the project
include application designing, database management, Unity 3D and C-sharp programming language.
With this project I have also completed a project Music recommendation system, where we used the
past songs played by the user to suggest them with new songs. In this project we used database already
available on internet. Working on these projects gave me insights about how important data is, how
we can vastly benefit by analysis and mining of data and how interesting and amazing new
technologies are.

Completing summer training in Data Science by one of the premier online education platforms
Upgrad, was an interesting experience and build my interest even more in big data and data analytics.
Similarly completing my foundation course in “Entrepreneurship” by IUCEE a prestigious
collaboration of academic and industrial experts from India and the USA, which was great learning
experience. During my 6-month long internship in a startup which is working on local delivery service
who believed in delivering everything to the customer on a click of the button made me realize how
amazing technology can be and its amazing real time applications. Here I could apply my theoretical
knowledge in application designing, my data science knowledge was put in use to understand the
trends and increase the client and customer base. In all I gained considerable industry experience.

To fulfill my dream of heading a business organization, after finishing undergraduate studies, I

decided to become an entrepreneur. I started my company “HyNest-Think Hygiene, Think us” in 2020,
with an idea for affordable hygiene products and quality The company is registered and is currently
under the product sampling and testing phase. Further, my company also trades in different disposable
hygiene products and other disposable medical products. I am responsible for overall management-
product designing and quality management, maintaining social media presence as well as basic
finance and accounting. My line of work has allowed me to gain idea about business management,
strategy and planning, and finance, which will surely help me during the graduate course.

I have learnt how to maintain an independent approach in all my endeavors and benefited most by
gaining life experiences through different avenues and activities. As a member of the committee
responsible for organizing cultural fests in my university, I would be actively involved in organizing
and coordinating preparations for several occasions. I have also been managing my father’s thriving
manufacturing business in my spare time for the past three years. As a member of the Computer
Society of India and the college’s Debugger's Club, I could hone my technical skills and better my
personality traits. Volunteering for AIESEC, an international youth run organization that works on
the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and working with the scout movement during my
school days has led me to become an empathetic, disciplined, and focused person. One of the most
important lessons I learnt as the Head Coordinator of an event of a national level technical symposium
Equinox is that one person’s life can influence the lives of a large number of people. This role taught
me that self-reliance is the basis of good work and helped me learn how to take both praise and
criticism positively.

All in all, these activities have brought out the best of me as an individual time and again, and I
believe they will help me face the challenges I would be presented with in my graduate studies with
aplomb.

It wasn’t difficult for me to figure out my specialization for my Master’s. Out of the different engaging
subjects under my Bachelor’s program, those such as DBMS, Data Mining and Analysis came to
interest me most. What fascinates me most is the way not just large, established businesses but also
small establishments today are using data to develop effective marketing/ production/ control
strategies. The realization that businesses can be refined and improved right from the core by
exploiting properties of data is what aroused my interest in MIS. While managing my father’s
manufacturing business as well as my small startup, for example, using customer feedback data
helped us improve in what we were lacking. During my graduate studies, I aspire to learn how an
MIS professional applies technologies of computing, software, networking, data management and
cyber security to integrate, support, and enhance business functions such as accounting, finance, sales,
marketing, production and management.

I reckon that the MS in Management Information Systems program at University of Texas, Dallas
will give my career the right direction and allow me to become a competent professional at
commercial or academic organizations. With modules that align with my interests and comply with
my academic and professional pursuits perfectly, the program seems to be tailored for an aspirant like
me. The university’s commitment to excellent learning, instruction and service, its erudite intellectual
pool, abundant training and research resources and state-of-the-art facilities motivate me to embark
on my graduate studies here.

I can assure the admission committee of my persistent efforts to realize the best of my potential in
order to meet the high standards of the program and to extend my useful contribution to its vibrant,
eclectic student community.
