1.0 OBJECTIVES
The unit is designed to familiarise you with simple conversation
between a teacher and a student in the class room. You will be able
to learn the usage of words and expressions in Arabic and practice
them in your daily life.

1.1 INTRODUCTION
By now, you are familiar with some of the commonly used Arabic
words. In this unit we will teach you how to make conversation in
Arabic using some of the words you have already learnt. The
situation chosen here is that of a classroom and the conversation will
be conducted between a teacher and a student, initially, and later
between the teacher and other students. In order that the
conversation does not concentrate on a particular topic, a number of
things have been included so that in the process you learn commonly
used expressions in Arabic. Through conversation, names of some
animals, fruits and vegetables have been taught.
Learn these words and expressions by reading them aloud. Practice
them among your colleagues and friends. Remember, the more you
practice, the faster you will gain proficiency in speaking Arabic.
Exercises have been added for consolidating your learning. Do all
the exercises and read them aloud.

1.2 ARABIC WORDS

Read the following Arabic words loudly and listen them carefully on
your computer.

given here. While making sentences try to speak them loudly. Make
sentences of questions and answers based on y~~ ~ \~~ (What is in
