Why is Jimmie Davis Bridge

Historic?

• Bridge (2,821’ length) was built in 1968 and

is considered historic because of its
distinctive truss type (Warren Truss)
• Bridge is on the Preservation Candidate list
and rehabilitation of the structure is a
commitment in the Environmental Document

• Security (in-person vs. CCTV)
• Routine Cleaning/Sweeping

Other considerations to reduce or mitigate costs

• Limiting hours of operation – could reduce trash
collection/cleaning, and security costs
• Marketing/Advertising – could offset O&M costs by selling
advertising space or renting out for events

Future Bridge Maintenance Needs

• Bridge Inspections – bridge will need to be
inspected every 2 years; LADOTD will
perform these inspections and provide
documentation to the owning entity
• Bridge will be rehabilitated as part of this D-
B Project, including full repainting. It is
anticipated the bridge will not require major
maintenance for 30 years
