Contemporary
Contemporary Art meaning “the art of today,” more broadly includes artwork
produced during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. It generally defines art
produced after the Modern Art movement to the present day. There are five

The use of appropriation has played a significant role in the history of the arts
(literary, visual, musical and performing arts).
The process and nature of appropriation has considered by anthropologists as
part of the study of cultural change and cross-cultural contact.
Images and elements of culture that have been appropriated commonly
involve famous and recognizable works of art, well known literature, and easily
accessible images from the media to form a new art work.

Juanito Torres paintings have appropriated Philippine heroes to depict and

fleshing out what it truly means to be Filipino.

Performance
It is an basically arts or skills that require a performance in front of a public
audience. Acting, singing and dancing are among of its example. Other forms
include opera, theatre, magic or illusion performances, mime, spoken word,
recitation, and public speaking.
Performance evolved to “emphasize spontaneous elements of chance”.
It is also use as a power of the arts to raise awareness in our historical
background and empower communities to bring forth social change.
