SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN PED 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the 60-minute session, the students will be able to:
a. Identify and explain some key elements of the school as a social system
b. Understand the function of the social system model
c. Discuss the basic social system concepts and assumptions
II. Subject Matter

of education in the country in general and community.

The teacher will display a picture and allow the students to draw their own conclusions.

B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity

The students will be asked to evaluate the current educational system in the Philippines
based on their observation.

2. Analysis.
The teacher will ask the following questions:

1. How to be a Globally Competitive Filipino?


2. What is the role of government in securing that Filipinos can compete in the global
educational arena?
3. What challenges you think that might be encountered as we prepare ourselves to be
globally competitive?
3. Abstraction.
The teacher will discuss the following concepts.

K to 12 Curriculum

 The K to 12 Program covers Kindergarten and 12 years of basic education (six


years of primary education, four years of Junior High School, and two years of
Senior High School [SHS]) to provide sufficient time for mastery of concepts and
skills, develop lifelong learners, and prepare graduates for tertiary education,
middle-level skills development, employment, and entrepreneurship.

RA 10533 Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013

 Section 4 Enhanced Basic Education Program - The enhanced basic education program
encompasses at least one (1) year of kindergarten education, six (6) years of elementary
education, and six (6) years of secondary education, in that sequence. Secondary
education includes four (4) years of junior high school and two (2) years of senior high
school education.

 Section 5 Curriculum Development - The DepEd shall formulate the design and details of
the enhanced basic education curriculum. It shall work with the Commission on Higher
Education (CHED) to craft harmonized basic and tertiary curricula for the global
competitiveness of Filipino graduates. To ensure college readiness and to avoid remedial
and duplication of basic education subjects, the DepEd shall coordinate with the CHED
and the Technical Education, and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).

 The trifocalization of
 Department of Education (DepEd),
 Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA),
 and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) shall help ensure that the
Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013 shall be enforced and provide
expereiential learning opportunities and inculcate lifelong learning mindset to
Filipino learners.

 Globalization - is a term used to describe how trade and technology have made the world
into a more connected and interdependent place. Globalization also captures in its scope
the economic and social changes that have come about as a result.

 Philippine Qualifications Framework - describes the levels of


educational qualifications, the official recognition of a person is
learning achievements. It also sets the standards for qualification
outcomes which are the knowledge or skills gained by students after
undergoing a certain learning or educational program.

 It is a collaborative program by the Department of Education (DepEd),


Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA),
Commission on Higher Education (CHED) , Professional Regulation
Commission (PRC) and Department of Labor and Employment
(DOLE).

4. Application
“EdTalks”

The students will have a debate about the Pros and Cons of K to 12. The class will be
divided into two groups. First group will be the Affirmative side and second group is the
Negative. The duration of the activity, will 10 minutes.

Generalization.
1. Why is there a need for a country to keep up with globalization?
2. How the educational system helps the country progress?
3. What is the effectiveness of the K to 12 Curriculum?

IV. Evaluation
On their GCR, the students will take a 5-item quiz. Students will answer it within 3-5 minutes. The teacher
will check their answers right after.
