topspan battens are quicker and easier to install because they can be 6 102.5mm
lapped, eliminating the time-consuming process of cutting to length.
Consistent straightness simplifies alignment, and fastening is quick and
easy using self-drilling screws.
There’s a topspan product that’s right for your building application.
topspan battens are made from high tensile Australian steel.
They can be used in many commercial and domestic applications
including sheds, garages and carports.
topspan battens are easily stacked, stored and transported.
A versatile solution for uses as battens for ceilings or roofs, or as light
steel sections.
Performance is backed by BlueScope Lysaght with over 150 years
experience in building products.
topspan 61 is available in stock and custom cut lengths and can be
easily lapped. The performance of topspan 61 is maintained even in a
lapped situation because the profile permits a precise, snug lap without
the need to deform the section’s shape.
It can be used in many construction projects such as sheds, carports and
garages, or for racking, fencing or handyman applications.
Roll-formed from quality Australian steel, topspan 61 is zincalume
steel coated for corrosion free long life.
It won’t burn, warp, twist, splinter or rot and it won’t be attacked by
termites. topspan 61 is versatile, economical, easily handled and stored
simply by stacking.
Material specifications
topspan 61 light steel sections are made from zincalume® steel

meet rural market needs, however their versatility now means they may
be used in many applications as alternatives to light gauge purlins and
girts (steel or timber).
For flooring applications, please contact your local BlueScope Lysaght

The performance of topspan 120 is maintained even when lapped
because the profile permits a precise, snug lap without the need to
deform the section’s shape.
It can be used in many construction projects such as sheds, carports and

It won’t burn, warp, twist, splinter or rot and it won’t be attacked by
termites. topspan 120 is versatile, economical, easily handled and
stored simply by stacking.
Ease of Use
Due to its innovative design, topspan 120 is much easier to work with
than C purlins. Its novel shape means it can be mounted directly onto
rafters or against columns without the use of cleats or bolts.
It’s shape also allows topspan 120 to be stacked for convenient storage
and transportation.

Screw selection
For fixing of TOPSPAN 120 to supports and at lapped ends use hex head
self drilling and self tapping screws according to the following:
Steel supports for flanges up to 2.0mm thickness in open profiles
No.14 - 10 x 20mm self drilling self tapping Class 3 screws
Steel supports (over 2.0mm thick)
No.14-20 x 22mm self drilling self tapping Class 3 screws. Pre-drilling is
recommended.
Timber Supports: Hardwood
No.14-10 x 50mm (Type 17), Pre-drilling is recommended.

Timber Supports: Softwood

No.14-10 x 75mm long (Type 17), Pre-drilling is recommended.
At lapped ends: Refer to drawing above for quantities and locations.
Otherwise, No.14-10x20mm long self drilling self tapping screws, 8
