Introduction
Bureau of Copyright and Other Related Rights (BCRR)
R.A 8293 or the IPO Code of the Philippines
Sec. 9A. Four (4) Functions:
1. Exercise original jurisdiction to resolve disputes
2. Accepts, reviews and decide on applications for the accreditation of
Collective Management Organizations (CMOs)
3. Conduct studies and researches in the field of copyright and related rights
4. Provide other copyright and related rights service and charge reasonable
fees
• Recordation or deposit of original works with the National Library or
with the IPOPHL

Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on January 25, 2011

• National Library of the Philippines (NLP) deputized the IPOPHL to


be:
➢ a receiving office for the registration and deposit of copyrighted
works as well as documents pertaining to deeds of assignment
or transfer

Why register?
➢ The creators of works will be protected by copyright laws
➢ Hold the exclusive right to use or authorize others to use the work on
agreed terms
➢ The right holder(s) of a work can authorize or prohibit:
• its reproduction in all forms, including print form and sound
recording, public performance and communication to the public,
broadcasting, translation into other languages, and adaptation,
such as from a novel to a screenplay for a film.
➢ Proof or for documentary purposes
• Legal documents, for procurement, for selling and others

Step 1: Go to www.ipophil.gov.ph

Step 2: Under the Services tab, go to Downloadable Forms page


and in the Copyright box, click the Deposit Form.

Step 3: Download the Registration and Deposit Form (RDF) and


Affidavit of Ownership.

Step 4: Applicant should fill-out the RDF and have the
Affidavit of Ownership notarized

Step 5: Submit /send the RDF, Affidavit of Ownership, and other requirements
through the BCRR official email: [email protected]

Step 6: BCRR Staff receives the application and reviews the
document in terms of accuracy and completeness.

Step 7: If found to be in order, BCRR will create an online


Statement of Account (SOA) to be sent to the applicant for
payment

Step 8: The applicant will receive the payment link and pay the
appropriate fees using any of the payment schemes:
• Credit Card
• Debit Card
• Postal Money Order payable to IPO Philippines (the payer
must notify the BCRR before proceeding to such payment
option).

Step 9: Upon confirmation of payment, the BCRR will create and
issue an Electronic Certificate of Registration and Deposit (ECRD)
and will be sent through email to the applicant.

Note: All fees are subject to 1% Legal Research Fund (LRF) as required by R.A. 3870.
If the fee is below P 1,000.00, the LRF is P 10.00.
