Guide in Using Learner’s Module

For the Parents/Guardian


This module is designed to assist you as the learning facilitator at home. It
provides you with activities and lesson information that the learners need to
accomplish in a distance learning modality.
Week 1
Use clues to answer questions, clarify understanding and justify
predictions before, during and after reading. (titles, pictures, etc.)

What I need to know?
I This lesson will help you to predict based on the clues and text or illustration. Today we are going
to learn how to make predictions because that’s what great readers do. As readers we predict too, we
look at the pictures title and think about what is going to happen in the story.
You are expected to use clues to predict what will happen next, justify the predictions before,
during, and after reading, and practice making predictions with the use of support evidence from the
picture or text.

We can predict in a lot of ways in our lives. Take a look at this picture:

What kind of weather do you think is

When you’re guessing what will happen next your making PREDICTIONS. You can make
predictions before, during and after reading a text or after looking at the picture/illustration.
PREDICTION - Taking the details found in the text and using those details to support what you think will
happen next. Predicting involves thinking ahead while reading and anticipating information and events in
the text or illustration.

When you’re thinking about the story and a s you are reading independently, your mind does a lot
of thinking - you ask questions, sometimes re-read passages, and you will also make predictions as the story

develops. As an active reader, we make predictions and support it with evidence.

What is it?
Predictions are guesses about what might happen or likely to happen next in the story. Usually, the

good guess. To make good prediction, use the story clues.

It is an educated guess about what will happen later in a story. Taking the details found in the text and

what will happen. There are clues in the story that will help in making a good guess. Use the story clues
or text evidence to make good prediction. Making predictions activates our prior knowledge about the
text and helps to make connections between new information and what we already know.
