Calibrating APC200

Calibration

• A transmission calibration has to be performed :

– when the vehicle is built at the OEM
– after 2000 hours driving in gear (forward or reverse)
– when the valve is changed
– when an overhaul of the transmission is done
– when the transmission is repaired / replaced
– when the APC200 is replaced
– when firmware and APT-file are updated
• Goal :
– guarantee the best shift quality during the complete life
of the transmission

Activation of the calibration mode

4 alternative to activate calibration

- Hold in the “S” button 15 sec. + switch on the main power

- Send a specific CAN message

- Use the DANA diagnostic tool

- Use the GDE tool (header Global & select for “Display
MODE” : “Transcal” & press “F5”)
Calibration
Navigate to the mode you want with help of
the “M” button.

Different type of calibration modes:

- “tran” : transmission calibration
- “heat” : transmission heat up
- “thro” : Throttle calibration (connected to a analogue input)
- “brak” : Brake pedal calibration (connected to a analogue input)
- “hydr” : hydro lever calibration (connected to a analogue input)
- “serv” : servo calibration (connected to a H-bridge)
- “cool” : Not used
Calibration
Overview

Hold the S button 15 sec +

switch on the power
Calibration
Clutch filling ⇒
Navigate to menu with the “M” button and activate with
the “S” button
Conditions for the calibration
- The parking brake must be activated
- The sump temperature must be above 60° C if lower the
temperature will be displayed e.g. t°43
- The engine speed must be around 800 RPM ± 200 RPM
Calibration

An instruction will be displayed who tell the driver to go

forward, move the shift lever to forward

Important: To stop the calibration go reverse

The calibration will start and the display show the different
steps in the calibration

‘c1’ = clutch 1 means forward ; ‘M1’ = mode 1 in the calibration

Calibration

• When all gears are calibrated the APC display shows “done”
which means the calibration are finished. Normally it takes
15 minutes for the calibration

• Switch off the ignition, wait a few seconds and switch on

again. Note don’t switch off with main switch.
• When the machine starts up again will the APC automatic
activate the values from the calibration.
Calibration
Warming up ⇒
Navigate to menu with the “M” button and activate with
the “S” button

This mode will heat up the transmission automatic:

- Only the highest gear can be engaged
- Forward and reverse can be activated when the parking brake is
activated
- The Inching function will not be active in this mode
- The display will show the sump temperature ⇒

An alternative way to heat up the temperature is to stall the transmission on the

highest gear in maximum 20 sec. And wait in neutral at least 20 sec.
Calibration
A view of the heat up process

When the sump temperature is above 60°C the APC display will start to flash.
Now it’s possible to navigate to the transmissions calibration mode with help
of the M button to ‘trAn’ are shown on the display.

2. If a failure code will be shown with a E in the

beginning e.g. E1.25, E1.26 contact a Dana
Service centre for help
