Speech About Bullying
Good Morning/Afternoon fellow student, teacher, and the issue that I have come to share and
talk about with you is bullying. It is all around us, everyone bullies, no matter what you think or
have done, you’ve most likely bullied someone.
There are many issues in the news that involve bullying and bad things that happen, as well as
people being affected from people bullying them.
Bullying is happening everywhere and the chances that you will encounter it are high. Around the
world bullying is a big issue particularly within schools and online in cyber space.
Within our school the biggest problem is Bullying. Also in our society bullying is the biggest
problem that we faces.
According to Webster's dictionary bullying is defined as "one habitually cruel to others who are
weaker" Bullying is the leading driver of low self-esteem, suicides, low academic achievement and
depression. I believe it is a problem because, there are too many teens that are abused by bullies. In
2010 at least 3 million students reported being bully, now think of all the students that are not
reporting out of fear. The world would be a lot better if there weren't any bullies on it. The
underlying issues with bullying is the student no longer feels safe. Even our school this is the
biggest example were the student encountered bully from their fellow students.
There are countless forms of bullying, but the most common are cyber bullying and school
bullying. Cyberbullying is defined as deliberately attempting to upset someone; cyberbullying can
happen via a number numerous ways. With all different forms of social media, whether it be
Twitter, Facebook, or even, Instagram, cyberbullying can occur. Bullying effects our communities.
Kids that are bullied appear likely to experience anxiety, depression, loneliness, unhappiness, and
sleep deprivation.
Have you ever said something to a friends or classmates and upset them by accident? Chances are,
it has probably happened loads of times. It’s a similar thing with bullying as the definition, by
default is subjective-meaning that everybody has a different threshold of what they consider to be
bullying. Sometimes, the person who is bullying you may genuinely have no idea that it is
affecting you. Equally, they are probably going through a difficult time themselves and will relate
on how your feeling. This is why we have found that speaking to the person is bullying you can be
really effective.
The reason people experience bullying is not because of their sexuality, gender identity, race
appearance, disability or any other unique factor; it is because of the attitude towards the factor.
The only thing possible to change is attitudes. The person who is bullying you is the one with the
issue, not you.
When you’re going through your teen years, sometimes it can all seem like a bit of a black hole.
It’s made even worse if you’re struggling with your identity or being bullied. This is why it is
important to seek our positive role models to show you that plenty of people have been you are
right now and have managed to overcome it.
