11 Intel Installer Readme

This installer is based on the first XxX 10.4.10 relase. It includes all the drivers, fixes and PPFs plus the
following new features:

-Apple 10.4.11 combo update; as optional choice, so you can still install 10.4.10 if you wish.

-EFI patches by Netkas & ToH. With this patches and the right hardware you will be able to run
unmodifyed Apple's stock kernels and most of the original kexts. More info at Netkas.org. Also allow you
to use GUID partitions (original intel mac's partition scheme).

-A few more drivers; G80 (nv8x00), NVInject, NVInjectGo, ALC880/850, Yukon 88E8053, etc.

Installer Screenshots:
The Installer is fully customizable. This can be a problem if you are not shure of what to install and what
not. In that case the default selection would most probably get you going. Read the PDFs included
before trying anything. They are the ones from 10.4.10 but applies here too.
Note: Back Row (appleTV) has been removed due some bugs.
Thats how the installer's menu looks with the default
options. Theres no EFI patches selected, and the
8.10.1 kernel would be installed together with the
needed kexts, and patches. You might have to add
audio, sound and network drivers to this default
selection.
The 8.10.1 works very well since is compiled from
source. Notice that the System.kext must be installed
along.

This screenshot shows a customization for using a

EFI patch. As you see we dont need to use any
extra kexts (as long as your hardware is supported
by apple's stock kexts). In this case I left
ApplePS2Controller.kext selected to have keyboard
support, since apple kexts wont recognice a PS2
keys. Same for audio, graphic cards, etc.
You only can use Apple's stock kernels with a Core
2 Duo CPU and a mobo with intel chipset
supporting HPET, NX/XD enabled, etc. In that case
you dont need to select any kernel. Otherways you
must choose a EFI compatible kernel to use (only
8.10.1 or 8.11.1 are EFI compatibles).
Also notice that the EFI patch selected is for MBR
partitions, and so must be the partition you choose
for the installation.

There could be problems trying to install the EFI

patch in systems with 512mb ram or less due the
way the installer handles postflight scripts.
Other thing that EFI patches brings is support for graphics 'out of the box' so to speak. You wont need
Natit, NVInject to get your GFX to work. Right now theres a few cards supported , but I guess more
would be added in the future. This is made by inserting a string unique for your card in the 'boot, plist'
file. Again, more details at Netkas.org (theres even a EFI forum there).

Note about 8.11.1 by ToH: This kernel gave me kernel panic unless I boot with '-legacy' flag. You might
need to enter this too. So make shure you select 'VerboseMode' in the 'RecommendedPatches' menu.
This will show you if theres anything wrong and also would add 20 sec countdown for you to add any
flags before booting. Just hit a key; you will see the darwing boot menu. Type -legacy and hit enter. This
flag can be added to the 'boot.plist' file so you dont have to type it in every boot.

About MBR/GUID.
Oviously you must decide what kind of partition scheme do you want, use Diskutility/partition options to
format your disk, and then choose the EFI patch accordly. Do not fuck it up here!

Good luck.
