A very good morning to the honourable judges, teachers and friends.

I’m going to
tell you a story entitled “Twenty Ringgit”.

A man came home from working late, tired and irritated. His five years old son
waited for him at the door.

“Hello, dad!” the son said.

The man was too tired to answer. He walked pass his son and sat on the couch.

“Dad, May I know how much you earn an hour?” asked the boy.

“Why do you ask such a thing? If you wanted to know, I make twenty ringgit an
hour,” replied the man.

“Oh…!” the little boy replied with the head hanging down.

After thinking for some time, he asked, “Dad, may I please borrow ten ringgit?”

His father was furious,” What?” The man raised his voice.

“You want to buy all those silly toys, don’t you? I work hard every day, how can
you be so selfish? Go to your room now!”

The boy quietly went to his room. The man sat and thought for a while about his
son’s request. Then, he went to his son’s room.

“Knock…knock…knock…” “Have you sleep, son?” He knocked the door and asked.

“No, dad,” replied the boy.

“Oh, my lovely son, I was too harsh on you. Here’s the ten ringgit,” said the man.

The boy shouted and yelled,” Oh, thank you dad!”

Then, the boy went to his bed and pulled out some small sum of money under his
pillow. He started count, “One, two, three…”

“Boy, why you want more money if you already have some?” his father grumbled.

“Dad, I have twenty ringgit now. Can I buy an hour of your time? Please come
home early tomorrow. I would like to have dinner with you.”

Ladies and gentleman,

“Money is never more important than time for the loved ones.”

I hope you enjoy the story. Thank you.
