(A reaction paper)
School is a place where a child is nurtured. It is considered as the second home where students
learn various things— academics, sports, skills and competencies, etc. In here, they are taught about
realities in life and ought to be prepared in facing life after school. But as time gone by, the school
system was gradually changed. In this era, students are obliged to learn standard lessons, to act
standard behaviors, and to perform standard skills and abilities.
The video 'I just sued the school system' is an interesting video that hopefully would serve as an
eye-opener to everyone. The school that we are currently in is no longer the same school that a student
would want to be involved. The system chokes each and every students as they are always asked to do
near impossible things. They are forced to perform activities and the teachers would say that they're
only following the school system's guide. The system is to be blamed then, I guess. They treat students
as robots who do tasks accordingly. They expect students to do the same things without consideration
of each person's skills, talents, and specializations. Just like what Prince EA wants to convey on the
video, a doctor should prescribe medicines depending on what a patient needs, depending on what the
patient has and has not. The same goes for teachers. Why teach students all the same way when one
needs differently from another? Why ask them to perform the same thing when one possess the talent
while the other doesn't? Each one is unique however everyone is treated identically without
considerations.
A fish that swims but is asked to climb a tree is like a student who dances but is asked to sing.
That's how the education system works nowadays. Like programmed robots, students are expected to
do well in class: to recite lessons, to memorize discussions, to follow instructions. They can't even have
a good sleep and rest as they always have assignments with deadlines. School also promotes
competition instead of collaboration. One is needed to win a competition with the other for the sake of
a high grade in class.
This world has gone too far. It has progressed, developed, and innovated. However, a dream is
yet to be fulfilled. That dream is a world where peace exists, where everything is tranquil, where
everyone lives quietly, where students learn excitedly, and where the school system is well-managed,
maintained, and highly considerable. Start smoothly and slowly, then the world will change accordingly.
Start in the school and the students will be productive. Sue the school system and the future graduates
and future professionals will have a bright world to live.
