CHAPTER I

The Introduction

Background of the Study

Aloe Vera is a succulent plant belonging to the Aloe genus. Aloe is a

widely spread plant with over 500 kinds, and it is considered an invasive species

in many parts of the world. It is an evergreen perennial that hails from the

Arabian Peninsula but thrives in tropical, semitropical, and desert regions all over

the world. Coconut oil, on the other hand, is a food oil made from the wick,

meat, and milk of the coconut palm fruit. Coconut oil is a white solid fat that

melts at room temperatures of roughly 25 °C, turning into a clear thin liquid oil in

hotter locations throughout the summer months. The perfume of unrefined

varieties is strongly reminiscent of coconut. Aloe Vera and Coconut Oil can be

used for a number of things, some the same and some different. From what I

have found is that Coconut Oil can be used more for skin and hair in the

reference of beauty, as well as cooking. Aloe Vera seems to be used more for

the purpose of skin care and medical reasons. As Coconut Oil can be the same,

each of these have their own benefits. So have fun enjoying the benefits of both

Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera, neither of these are bad, and they are both good

choices. It all really matters on your own preference and what your using with it.

Aloe Vera and coconut oil for dandruff are known traditional ingredients. The

1
skin cells on the scalp constantly renew themselves by pushing away old cells.

This process is called flaking. This flaking is accelerated in times in case of a

person suffering from dandruff adding itchiness to it. Dandruff is caused due to a

fungus called Malassezia globose. The anti-inflammatory action of aloe Vera and

coconut oil reduces scalp irritation and anti-fungal properties protect against

flaking and Malassezia globose. There’s plenty of medical research on the health

benefits of Coconut Oil and Aloe Vera for your body, skin, and hair. Some people

use coconut oil on their hair and scalp because they believe that it helps hair

grow faster. We’ll explore if this is actually effective. The natural goodness of

coconut oil combined with a host of beneficial properties like Aloe Vera gives

your hair strength and sheen you always wished for. You can combine Aloe Vera

with Coconut Oil to make a simple yet effective hair mask. Coconut oil may help

your hair feel softer and promote strength and shine. It may also help reduce

frizziness.
