Professional Summary:
Chartered degree qualified engineer, green and brown field experience in oil and gas,
petro-chemical, refinery, offshore, LNG cryogenic & nuclear industries, covering
engineering, design, installation, maintenance and commissioning. Supervising and
working with EPC contractor and outsourced design contractors on single and multi-
discipline projects.
Currently client (BG) Lead Instrument Control Engineer and Field Instrumentation
Technical Authority on an oil and gas processing facility in Kazakhstan. Facility is sour
service 4% H2S with gas re-injection pressures up to 600 bar.

May 2010 – Present: KPO Lead Inst Control Engineer, Project Execution Department: KPO, Aksai,
Kazakhstan
Promoted to lead instrument engineer managing and co-ordinating a multi national team
of engineers, responsible for in-house engineering, design and procurement activities.
Management and supervision of outsource design contractors. Allocation of manhours
and scheduling of works as determined by the CAPEX budgets and business
requirements. Providing safe, correctly engineered responses to operational assets
through production of FEED documentation and design workpacks in a timely manner
thus ensuring production down time is limited to a minimum. Client instrument technical
authority (TA) providing asset integrity advice on instrument systems in compliance with
National and International Standards. Participation in risk assessments including
HAZOP, HAZID, SIL and Management of Change.
Aug 2005 – May 2010: KPO Senior Instrument Engineer, Engineering Team, KPO, Aksai, Kazakhstan
Expat senior instrument engineer for site based project engineering team. Responsible
for detailed engineering and design packages, in compliance with international standards
and RoK legislation, for modification and optimisation of existing oil and gas processing
plant; 4 trains which include condensate sweetening, sour gas compression and Drizo
units. Sour gas re-injection unit – Nuovo Pignone reinjection compressors up to 600 bar;
well head High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) – ICSS interfaces
Honeywell TDC. Requisitioning of all instrumentation. Production of engineering reports
in response to queries from field operations. Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments for
use in the production of the operations safety case. Training of National Kazakh
engineers. All work engineered for operation and maintenance/testing in harsh
environments i.e. ambient temperatures are +40°C to – 40°C and sour service.

Jan 2004 – Aug 2005:- Lead C&I Engineer, Huntsman / Foster Wheeler Engineering Alliance, Wilton Site, UK
Led team of C&I engineers as part of Huntsman / Foster Wheeler engineering and design
alliance. Team engineered design solutions whilst ensuring client maintained maximum
process throughput whilst at the same time achieving HSE requirements of a major
COMAH installation. Tasks included the replacement and improvement of existing
instrumentated systems to include specification, selection and requisitioning of control /
ESD / Fire & Gas and fiscal metering systems. Production of construction workpacks and
installation / commissioning support. Preparation of man hour estimates and
management of budgets. Experience with Delta V, Honeywell TPS, Experion and Fisher
Provox control systems. All work produced in accordance with client and international
specifications and standards.
Mar 2003 – Dec 2003 :- Senior C&I Engineer, Ethylene Plant Upgrade, Huntsman Petrochemicals, North Tees,
UK
Fast track liquefaction project, executed in phases to minimise disruption to client
businesses. Led design, engineering and procurement of new and replacement
instrument systems, for an ethylene liquefaction plant – similar principle of design to LNG.
Implementation of SIL findings for the project which included the interfacing with existing
plant ICSS hardware.
Nov 2002 – Jan 2003 :- Instrument Engineer, Vaporiser Replacement, Conoco Philips, Middleton Ireland
Solely responsible for design of instrument systems for additional vaporiser. Also
required to provide reports / manhour estimates and control change through CTR’s.
Feb 2002 – Mar 2003 :- C&I Engineer, Lindsay Oil Refinery Upgrade, Total Fina Elf, Immingham, UK
Initially responsible for the FEED study and production of manhour estimates of 3
revamps totalling approximately five thousand instrument hours. On successful award
worked as C&I Engineer producing equipment requisitions, providing weekly progress
reports and implementing SIL requirements.
Requisitioning of major items of equipment including sulphur analyser and house (ATAC),
control system (Eurotherm T640 panel suite) and reactor temperature measurement
system (Gayesco). The temperature measurement system was a new patented
technology giving 56 temperature measurements throughout the reactor.
Sept 2001 – Feb 2002 :- C&I Engineer, Cryogenic Liquid Storage Facility, BOC, Teesport, UK
Installation of additional oxygen storage facility, with 10 month schedule, which was
completed two months early and under budget. Solely responsible for procurement and
technical evaluations of all instrumentation. Participated in SIL and HAZOP design safety
reviews and addressed instrument actions. Oversaw construction and commissioning of
the C&I package.
May 2001 – Sept 2001 :- C&I Engineer, High Active Waste Project, BNFL Sellafield, UK
E&I project engineer, implementation of E&I modifications to an existing nuclear
installation to comply with regulatory body design safety reports.

systems. Co-ordination of programmes between sub-contractors and the system
