Human Rights
(Nabeeha Tameen)
Let me share with you a brief history how this idea emerged and advanced.
After second world war, when humanity had experienced and suffered the
most heartwrenching events of human rights violation and billions of human
beings had been slaughered and victimised, the newly formed United
Nations Organisation convened a meeting to advocate and protect all basic
human rights. In result of this, Universal Declaration on Human Rights was
issued.
Respected teachers, Human rights and their protection are usually the topic
of serious discussions around the world at different forums. These are
necessary to be protected as it is just in line with the natural law and every
religion has also emphasised on the development of a sense of responsibility
to ensure these rights. In today's modern world, great emphasis is put to
protect human rights; however, the violations of human rights are evident in
almost all parts of the world in one way or the other way. The conflicts based
on region, religion, class, caste, colour, nationality, language etc have
resulted in a number of violations of human rights in different areas at
different times. In this scenario, a dire need has emerged to spread a wave
of awareness among masses to honour and ensure every individual's basic
human rights.
My fellows, when we talk human rights, we should not forget that the greatest
champion and protector of human rights, The Holy prophet Hazrat
Muhammad (peace be upon him) in his address at the time of "Hajja tul
Widaa" has put great emphasis to honour and protect all human rights. This
example preceded all other examples to speak for human rights. Let's pledge
to protect every human being's rights as this is the sign of true humanity and
this is really important to bring peace and harmony in the world.
Thank you!
