For the facilitator (Teacher or Parent):
Welcome to the Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Learning Packet on Self-help
Skills.
This learning packet was collaboratively designed, developed and reviewed by
educators to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners meet the
standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social, and
economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent
learning activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help
learners acquire the needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their
needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of

This checklist serves as pre-assessment tool which gives you information what
the child already knows. By this, you can better organize what the learner needs to learn.

kaalaman ng mag-aaral. Sa pamamagitan nito, mas matutukoy ang mga kaalamang dapat pang
matutuhan ng mga mag-aaral.)

1
Perform the following activities with the learner.
(Gabayan ang mag-aaral sa gawaing ito.)

1. Give the learner a small amount of water or milk that he/she can
drink. Make sure that it is contained in an unbreakable, easy to
grip, plastic cup.
(Bigyan ang mag-aaral ng kaunting tubig o gatas na maaari n’yang inumin.
Siguraduhin na ito ay nakalagay sa hindi nasisira, madaling hawakan,
plastik na tasa.)

2. Give the learner a plate with a soft, bite-sized finger food like
sliced fruits and biscuits. Start/Begin by modeling:
teacher/facilitator picks a biscuit by hand or uses a fork to pick
up a slice of fruit from a plate. He/She brings the food to her
mouth and takes a bite then chews on the food while the learner
is looking/watching. Remember, a child learns best by example.
Afterwards, encourage him/her to do it on his/her own.
(Bigyan ang mag-aaral ng plato na may malambot, maliit na pirasong
pagkain tulad ng biskwit o hiniwang prutas. Simulsan sa pamamagitan ng
pagmomodelo. Ipapakita ng guro/facilitator ang pagdampot ng biskwit
gamit ang kamay o gamit ang tinidor pantudok ng hiniwang prutas mula sa
plato. Isusubo niya ang pagkain at ngunguyain habang nakamasid ang
mag-aaral. Tandaan, mabilis ang pagkatuto ng mga bata kapag may
ginagaya/sinusundang halimbawa. Matapos ang pagpapakita, hikayatin
ang mag-aaral na gawin/gayahin ang halimbawa ng pagkain mag-isa.

3. Teach the learner the proper way to use a spoon. Make sure to
use an unbreakable, plastic spoon for his/her own safety. While
feeding him/her, you would be able to know if he/she is ready.
After that, encourage the learner do it on his/her own.
(Turuan ang mag-aaral ng wastong paggamit ng kutsara. Tiyakin na hindi
ito nababasagin, at kung maari ay yari sa plastik para sa kanyang

kaligtasan. Habang pinapakain siya’y kumakain, malalaman mo ang
kanyang kahandaan. Hikayatin ang mag-aaral na gawin ito ng mag-isa.)

a. Introduce a nutritious, soft, semi-solid food to the learner,


and do it every day.
(Magpakilala ng masustansya, malambot, hindi gaanong solid na
pagkain sa mag-aaral, at gawin ito araw-araw.)

b. Gradually, the learner will learn to eat soft, solid food with
a minimum assistance.
(Paunti-unti, ang mag-aaral ay matututong kumain ng malambot,
solid na pagkain na may minimal na paggabay).

Do the above activities with the learner every day as part of his/her
daily routine until he/she is able to do it independently.
