Plot (What’s the problem in this text?):
It is Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and the confirmation of Lord Voldemort’s return is all it takes to disturb the beginning of his school year. The rising of the Dark Lord’s power and his army of Death Eaters is increasingly noticeable and now, more than ever, it’s necessary to gather forces to fight against evil. For that, Harry and Professor Dumbledore have to visit Voldemort’s obscure past and, in the meantime, Harry faces a new mystery: who is the enigmatic half-muggle half-wizard prince and where does he stand in the war that’s coming? Turning Point (What did you find unexpected in the story?): I find unexpected that, when the sixteen-year-old Death Eater Draco Malfoy fails to kill Professor Dumbledore due to the fact that he is scared of doing so, Professor Snape ends up being the one responsible for the headmaster’s death. I didn’t see this coming because Snape belonged to the Order of The Phoenix (a secret society founded by Dumbledore to oppose Voldemort and his Death Eaters) and was one of his most trusted allies.
Was this book important to you? Why? Why not?
Just like the rest of the Harry Potter series, this book means a lot to me, not just because I like the story and the characters but because it teaches values of friendship, family and loyalty. It also made me realize that no one can be all good nor all bad; sometimes good people can do bad things out of fear or love and that doesn’t make them hateful, just imperfect, which we all are.
