D. PONDER / GUIDE QUESTIONS

a. What was the message of the book?

Harry taught us to never give up. He destroyed the horcrux within himself, and then came back
from the dead to kill Voldemort. Harry endured so much in the series, and he persevered through

all of it. He showed us that you can push through even the hardest times, bounce back and
succeed

b. Why do you think the author chose to write this book? (For example, was it to inform,
entertain, persuade, etc.?)

She was actually motivated to write the stories for herself. Since she had vivid memories of her
own childhood, this may be the reason as to why children seem to easily identify with Harry and
his friends while they read the books.

c. What message was the author trying to convey? How do you know?

She/He taught us to never give up.

d. What was the main feeling in the book (e.g. was it happy or sad)? How do you know this?

We live vicariously through these characters, relishing it because it allows us to feel a myriad of
things — happiness, love, friendship, triumph, fear, sadness, grief, and loss.

e. What do you think was the most important part of the book? Why?

The mood is intensity. All of the challenges overcome by Harry become more and more intense. Just
when you think he can't do it, he pulls it out. This intense mood keeps us at the edge of our seat.

f. What did you like and dislike about the book? Why?

Besides the fact that he's the main character of the story, what's so special about Harry?
Well, part of it is that he's a real underdog. He not only has to deal with the everyday
problems of life and finding out that he's a wizard, but he has to fight Voldemort, the ultimate
evil in the Wizarding World.

The Harry Potter series contains problematic tropes and harmful stereotypes perpetuating oppression.
Between the lines of the hero's journey to battle evil, you'll find ample evidence of racism, sexism,
fatphobia, and binary thinking in general.

g. What could have been improved (in terms of the content of the book)?

One of Harry's biggest weaknesses is the fact that he can often be reckless and act impulsively.
This causes him to make mistakes that can often be quite costly. One example is the
Sectumsempra he casts on Draco Malfoy, as he is clearly unaware of its true consequences.

h. What do you think of the title? Did the author make a good choice? Why?

Yes, because the story is all about Harry Potter

i. Did you learn anything from this book that you can use in your life? If yes, what is it?

I have learn in this story to never give up

j. In a scale of 1-10, what rating would you give to recommend this book to your friends or
colleagues?

I will rate it 10/10. I would recommend it to my friends and colleagues
