Content Standards: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the legal and


ethical aspects of nursing practice. (Please refer to your handouts and notes about our
discussions in the classroom on the said topics).
Performance Standard:
After reviewing the handouts and discussion notes, the learner shall be able to
describe the legal and moral accountability and responsibility of nurses, standards of
care, policies and procedures affecting the scope of nursing practice.
Learning Competencies:
 Define the terms related to the ethical principles and legal responsibilities that
protect the nurse from liability.
 Recognize the nurse’s legal responsibilities with selected aspects of nursing
practice.
