How to set an IP for a Radar

OnVif Device Manager
Intro to MASS
MASS Configuration

What does MASS do?

• MASS is a map view of the site with real-time target location display.

• MASS manages and automatically controls the PTZ cameras to direct them at detected targets.

• Using MASS, alarm zones can be defined – geographical areas that when entered by targets will
generate an alarm

• The above alarm can then be forwarded to a VMS/PSIM/IO Device to trigger various actions (record
video, start a siren, register in event log, etc.)

• MASS does not log events/alarms – it relies on external integrations to VMS/PSIM SW to do

that
Installing MASS
MASS Configuration

Installing MASS
Launch mass-v3.1.x.x.msi
MASS Configuration

Installing MASS
Starting with v3.1 MASS is installed as a service on the host computer.

• MASS Software – MASS server

• Service manager – Tray application for
starting and shutting down the process
• Documentation – User manual and
release notes
MASS Configuration

Installing MASS
After installation, MASS is launched by default.
• START – start the MASS service

Right
• STOP – stop the MASS service
Click • OPEN MASS Client – in the
default browser
• OPEN CONFIG FOLDER –
contains site configuration data
• Exit – close the tray application,
this does not stop the MASS
service!!

Launching MASS
1. MASS is launched by default when the system boots up.
2. The MASS service may be started and stopped by using the tray application or directly in the
“Services” application.
3. Launch the client by clicking on the tray application icon, and selecting ‘Open MASS Client’.
A browser window is opened in HTTP://localhost:3000
• Chrome is recommended.
• if you are running the client on another computer enter
http://[MASS_SERVER_ADDRESS]:3000, where [MASS_SERVER_ADDRESS]
is the IP address of the computer running the MASS server application
(for example, 192.168.1.207:3000).
4. Login as administrator or using the account assigned to you by your
administrator.
MASS Configuration

Users Management
1. Open the main menu by clicking the
icon on the top left of the screen.
2. Open the user manager by pressing the
icon.
3. Add a new user by clicking the
4. Only two roles, ‘admin’ and ‘guest’.
Guest is for normal operation, Admin is for
configuration.
5. Edit or remove a user
6. To return to client home press

Setting Up Sensor Communication

• Requires position / heading calibration

• Critical for good tracking performance

• Requires administrator account on MASS

• Prerequisite – all sensors on the same network, respond to PING / discoverable with ODM /

Setting Up Home Position

• Home position is where map display opens and new sensors are
located. Default is 0N0,E0.
• Presets are saved home locations,
but only one active home location exists.
• Go to home position by pressing the
home button.
• Go to saved preset by pressing the preset
name (then press Set Home to add sensors
at that location).
• Single home position for MASS server
• Set new home by pressing Set Home

* You may also Right click the home button to set new home position

Several options for setting location:
• Enter the sensor’s latitude/longitude
coordinates in GEO decimal values
• Drag the sensor’s icon to the requested
location
• Use hotkey <ctrl> +
<up>/<down>/<right>/<left>.
<ctrl>+<shift> for small steps

Options for setting heading:

• Azimuth - Enter sensor’s azimuth in
degrees
• Rotate the sensor using
<ctrl>+<[>/<]>,
<ctrl>+<shift> for small steps

Radar location fine tuning

• Align tracked targets with existing landmarks
• Open the sensor wizard by pressing the
pencil icon near any sensor
• For each sensor:
• First adjust the azimuth
• Then the location.
• Click Save
• Click Finish
• You may adjust all sensors at once without
closing the wizard.
MASS Configuration

Camera fine tuning

For each camera.
Need MASS and Onvif Device Manager
Run validation tool
• Add 4 reference points or more.
• For each reference point:
• Place the point on the map on a
landmark you can locate with the camera
• Aim the camera at the same location,
ground level, using PTZ controls.
• Lock the reference point.
• After 4 points, press Next to finish the
process
• Both Location and Azimuth are accurately
calculated.
• Pick locations around the camera, aim the
camera on the map, make sure aimed right.

Camera fine tuning

MASS Configuration

Camera DTM
• Each camera has its own DTM
ground height correction layer.
• Used to manually compensate
for irregular terrain / slopes
• Use when ground is not level
or camera is slightly skewed.
• Use with visible landmarks, or
track a target in open field.
MASS Configuration

Creating Camera DTM

• Select a camera on the map
• Drag to a visible landmark
• Observe if camera aims
correctly in Elevation.
• If not, press the DTM icon
• The DTM point menu opens,
and a red dot is drawn where
the DTM point is going
• Accept or discard.
MASS Configuration

Erasing Camera DTM

• DTM point has a tool tip
• Left click to open a small
menu
• Only possible operation is
erase
• Need to erase each point
MASS Configuration

Removing Sensors
• Right click a sensor to display its name
• To remove Sensor move the cursor over the
preferred sensor and click the trash icon to
delete the sensor.
• Confirm deleting the sensor.
MASS Configuration

Sensors Information
• For a quick view of info of the existing radars
or cameras, move the cursor over the
sensor's name and click the icon
• Information shown:
• Name of the sensor.
• IP address of the sensor.
• Error message if there are any (for example,
when sensor is Disconnected)
• Color of the sensor – will be shown at the
left border of the section.
• List of associated areas to the sensor
Configure your site
MASS Configuration

Profiles
• Profile is a set of zones associated with a certain configuration of the site.
• All visible zones are part of the current profile
• First define the zones in the generic profile, then copy the profile and modify.
MASS Configuration

Coverage Zones
• Used to indicate places where the
radar’s detections are processed by
the MASS or ignored.
• Helps focus on areas of interest and
prevent false alarms from potentially
noisy locations.
• Recommendation – place at least
one coverage zone for each sensor.
• MASS will only produce targets
where coverage is defined.
• No coverage zones = Everything is
coverage zone.
MASS Configuration

Alarm Zones
• Used to trigger alarms and alerts the VMS.
• Activates when a target enters the zone.
• May cover entire coverage zone or less.
• Not sensor related.
MASS Configuration

Adding a zone

• Name – pick any

• Severity – only used for prioritizing
• Timeout – how much time before triggering
new alarm
• Threshold – change sensitivity of entire
zone. Better not to touch
MASS Configuration

Profile Scheduler
• Used to set when each profile is
active
• Each profile gets a “Calendar” – A
collection of time based events.
• “Event” – a period of time with a
defined start time, end time and
recurrence pattern.
• Max recurrence period is one week.

Select the Map Image Source

1. Ensure that the device running the server
software is connected to the Internet, as
most maps must be downloaded in real-
time
2. On the top right of the screen, move the
mouse cursor over the icon to open
the Display Options menu
3. Select the requested map source from the
following options:

Map Image Source Options

• Bing Map – Displays a satellite picture of the
interest zone
• Open Street Map – Displays a standard line
plot map
• Google Map – Displays a satellite picture of
the interest zone
• Local Map – Used for displaying the map
that is stored in the local cache on the
server; requires saving the requested map
format (Bing/Open Street/Google) to the
local cache first
• Use this option when the device running the
server is not connected to the Internet
