Overview

Overview
These instructions support the installation for the CARESTREAM Image Suite V4 MR1
Software. The software installation can take 60 to 90 minutes for systems that are using
the WINDOWS 7 Professional SP1 64 bit Operating System, and 35 to 40 minutes for
systems using the WINDOWS 8.1 Professional 64 bit (Update) Operating System.
The Image Suite software connects to CARESTREAM CR and DR capture devices. The
following is a list of CARESTREAM systems that connect to the Image Suite software.

• CARESTREAM Point-of-Care CR 140/360 Systems


• CARESTREAM Vita CR System
• CARESTREAM Vita LE/XE CR Systems
• CARESTREAM Vita Flex CR System
• CARESTREAM Classic CR System
• CARESTREAM DRX/TDR-Interface Kit

There will be a software installation screen that will ask you to select the CR or DR
equipment that is connected to your system. The subsequent screens will be specific to
your system configuration.

Prepare for the Install

General Installation

Important
The following list of items must be completed before you can successfully install Image Suite V4
MR1 software:
• All USB flash drives must be removed from the Image Suite computer.
• Make sure your anti virus software disabled.
• The Image Suite computer must have access to an Internet connection.
• The computer name must have been assigned using the English alphabet and numerical
characters.
• The region and language settings must be set to the region of the installation site to ensure
the Image Suite displays the correct language.
• The date and time in operating system must be set to the region of the installation site.
• For systems using the WINDOWS 8.1 Professional 64 bit Operating System, you must install
the WINDOWS 8.1 Update for x64-base Systems.
A future release of the WINDOWS 8.1 Professional 64 bit Operating System will include the
Update.
• The WINDOW 8.1 Professional 64 bit (Update) Operating System, will automatically default
to the desktop view.

Advanced Service Installation


• If your system has 2 hard drives that will be partitioned for Image Suite, partitioning
must be done before you install the Image Suite V4 MR1 software using the Partition
Tool application on the Image Suite DVD. See the Specifications for the Image Suite
System, 9J0794 for partitioning information.
• If your system includes the Classic CR System with the easy view display, you must have
an external Network Interface Card (NIC) installed for the hospital network.
The Classic CR with the easy view display will connect to the motherboard network
interface connection. See Connect to the Hospital Network under the
Help Topics for additional setup information.
• If your system is connecting to the DRX System, you will need to set up the IP address
and rename the network adapter after the Image Suite software is installed. See the
Installation and Configuration for the Detector Interface Package, 6K7917.

Installation Instructions
The Image Suite software installation application is launched from the
WINDOWS desktop.
1. Go to the WINDOWS desktop before inserting the Image Suite Software DVD.
2. Insert the Image Suite Software DVD and launch the software installation application.
If the Image Suite application doesn’t start automatically, browse for the
SetupWizardStart.exe on the DVD and double-click to launch the Image Suite
application.
3. Select Next.
Depending on your computer system, the next screen will either automatically create
the install paths needed for the Image Suite software components or allow you to
manually change the install paths.
4. At the Determine the Install Paths screen.
» If the install wizard automatically starts the application, wait for the application
to complete and continue with Step 5 after the system reboots.
» If the install wizard displays the Customize button, you can click Customize then
click Change to change the install path(s) for the Image Suite software
components. When you are done, click Next.
5. Follow the instructions on the Install Wizard screens to complete the software
installation.

Note
The installation and configuration for the Image Suite software can take 35 to 90 minutes to
complete. During the installation your system reboots 2 or 3 times.

Determine Install Paths


• Image Suite will install the Image Suite V4 MR1 software to the C: drive.
• When Image Suite partitions the system, the following partitions and directories are
created:

• When Image Suite does not partition, you can click Customize to assign the partition
or drive where the directories, listed above, will reside.

Select System Type Screen


At the Select System Type screen:
• If you have previously exported an Image Suite system configuration file from this
computer, you can select Import Configuration from this screen, and these
imported settings will be used to configure this system.
• If you do not have a configuration file, select the type of system, Human or
Veterinary, that you are configuring. Then select the type of Tutor Image that will
display and represent the views you acquire.

Detector Setup Screen–service person only


At the Detector Setup screen, if you are connecting to a DRX System, you will need to
use the Installation and Configuration Instruction for the Detector Integration Package,
6K7917 to setup the DRX network adapter and configure the DR detector.

Create User Accounts Screen


By default, two user accounts are created for you.
• Administrator (admin)
• Service Provider (cshsvr)
If you would like to create additional accounts, fill out the User Name and Password
fields and select a Role for the user, then click Add User.

Important
The install wizard will create one administrator user account, as 1234. All other user accounts are
optional at this time and can be created after this installation is complete.
1. At the Create User Accounts screen, create accounts for each user of the Image
Suite System. Use the following table to define the access for each User Role.

2. You can create as many user accounts as you need now, or you can create and add
user accounts later in the Image Suite application, after the software installation is
complete.
3. Click Next to continue.

Enable Options Screen


For this screen, you will need to locate the Options Certificate(s) that were shipped with
your system.
1. At the Enable Options screen, locate your Carestream Image Suite Option
certificate(s) and type the activation code into the field. Click Add for each option
certificate.

Note
If your system is includes a bar code scanner, you can scan the bar codes on the certificate(s)
instead of typing in the codes.
2. When you are done typing or scanning your activation codes, click Activate to
proceed with the activation confirmation.
3. Wait for the automatic activation to complete.
» If the Automatic Activation is successful screen displays, no further action is
required.
» If the screen, Your system is unable to reach the activation server displays,
you can use email to complete the activation. Continue with Step 4.
4. Use Email to reach the activation server.
» If your Internet connection is good and you do not require a proxy for Internet
access, select Enable Option via Email.
» If you have verified your connection to the Internet, and your system requires a
proxy for Internet access, click Show Proxy Settings and contact your IT
administrator to enter the required information into the fields.

Log in to Image Suite for the First Time


The first time you log in to the Image Suite application, you must change the password
for the Admin account that the Image Suite application created for you. The
CARESTREAM Image Suite screen can take several minutes to display.
1. At the Login screen:
a. Select admin for the User Name.
b. Type: 1234 for the Password.
2. Click Login.
3. At the Please change your password screen, type:
a. 1234 for the Old Password field.
b. 123456 for the New Password field.
c. 123456 in the Confirm New Password field.
4. Click OK.
5. At the Change password successful screen, click OK.

Connect to the Hospital Network


If Image Suite is on a different network than the hospital network, use this procedure to
set the IP address using the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or a static IP
address for the Image Suite computer.
1. If necessary, for a static IP address, contact the administrator for the facility network
to get the correct IP address.
2. Select Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet.
3. Click Network and Sharing Center.
4. Click Change adapter settings.

Important
The hospital network is listed as the Local Area Connection on the Adapter Settings screen.
5. Right-click Local Area Connection and select Properties.
6. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).
7. Click Properties.
8. Choose how you will provide the IP address for the Image Suite computer:
» If you are using a static IP address from the administrator for the facility network,
continue with Step 9.
» If you are not using a static IP address, perform the following sub steps.
a. Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
b. Wait for the application to complete.
c. Click OK. The procedure is complete, no further action is necessary.
9. At the Properties screen, select Use the following IP address.
10. Type the correct information for:
• IP address
• Subnet mask
• Default gateway
11. If necessary, type the correct information for:
• Preferred DNS server
• Alternate DNS server
12. Click OK.
13. Close the window.
14. Select Start > Shutdown > Restart .
15. Click OK.

Test the Image Suite System


1. At the Worklist screen, wait for the Scanner Status to display Scanner Ready.
2. At the bottom left corner of the screen, click New Patient

3. The Patient screen displays. Complete all the mandatory fields marked in orange.
4. Select a Body Part and a View, and then click Start.

5. Make a phantom test image:


» For CR Systems, place a phantom test image or metal object on to a cassette and
expose it with a dose of 10 mR and continue with Step 6.
» For DR Systems, place a phantom test image or metal object on to a DRX-Detector
and expose it with a dose of 10 mR and advance to Step 7.
6. Insert the cassette with the exposed image into the CR System and start the scanning
process.
7. Check that the image from the CR System or DR System presented in the screen viewer
is clear and represents the exposed image.
8. Click the green check box to approve the image.
9. Click End Study.

Uninstall Image Suite V4 MR1


This procedure will remove all Image Suite application files, Image Suite folders and
content, including image files, and database files that were created by the Image Suite
application.
1. From the WINDOWS desktop, go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.
2. Right-click Image Suite V4 and select Uninstall.
3. Wait for the application to begin.
4. If you see a dialog box to remove any programs, click OK.
5. At the Do you want to remove all Image Suite data from your computer
screen:
» If you want to remove all Image Suite files data files which includes image files,
database files and folders, click Yes.
» If you do not want to remove all Image Suite data files and folders, click No
6. Wait for the application to complete.
