Future forms

1.We use the Present Simple Tense to talk about fixed future events.2.we use Be Going to to talk
about plans and intentions.3.we use Will/Won`t to talk about predictions about the future4.We
use the Present Continuous tense to talk about future arrangements.

Question tags are short questions which we use to check facts or make conversation.We use
them when we want someone to agree with what we are saying:1.It`s a beautiful day ,isn`t it?
2.to make sure that what we are saying is right.-The tennis match starts at 3 o`clock,doesn`t it?
Some question tags are irregular.1.I am lucky to be alive,aren`t I
Let`s hike on the mountains,shall we?

So/ nor/neither
we use SO to agree with positive statements.
we use nor/neither to agree with negative statements
After SO/NOR/NEITHER we repeat the verb used in the statement.If the statement is in the
present or past simple,we use DO/DID to agree with it.

I am lucky to be alive,....
Everyone is looking forward to the trip,.....
Let`s hike in the mountains,...
Don`t forget to let me know you`ve arrived safely,......
Be careful,....
This/that is so dangerous,....
These/those are brave men,....

 Past Simple
use:1.past routines and habits
Bob went out for dinner every Saturday,when he was young.
2.actions which happened one after
Natalie went to the restaurant ,bought a pizza and took it home.
3.actions or situations which started and finished in the past
I cooed fish last night.

 Past Continuous
use:1.an action that was in progress at a specific time in the past
I was making coffee at 7 this morning
2.two or more actions that were in progress at the same time in the past
John was watching TV while his mum was making dinner.
3.an action that was in progress in the past but was interrupted by another action.
Dad was sleeping when the phone rang.
4.to give background information in a storry
It was raining,the wind was blowing and we were shaking from the cold.
Some verbs can`t be used in the continuous form:believe,belong
to,consist,depend,know,mean,need,prefer,seem.

USED TO +INFINITIVE
We use used to + infinitive to talk about past habits and long lasting situations which are now
finished or different.
They used to live in France.
They didn`t use to live in France.
Did they use to live in France?

Second conditional
We use the second conditional to talk about the results of an action or situation that :
1.probably won`t happen now or in the future
You would be healthier if you took some exercise.
2.we know will not happen now or in the future:
If I won an Olympic gold medal,I would be famous.
We can also use the second conditional to give advice:
If I were you I would take up a sport.We can use COULD or MIGHT in the main clause instead of
WOULD.:
Jack could win the tournament if he trained harder.
If clause:past tense/Main clause: Would +bare infinitive.

Wishes/regrets
We use Wish to talk about a situation or an action that we aren`t happy about ,or to say how we
would like something to be different.
Wish+past tense when we talk about the present or the future.
He wishes he were strong enough to run a marathon.
