CHAPTER I

INTRODUCTION

In this topic we will see what are the impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic
to our Parents and Students who are facing the issues.
Face to face class has been our common thing as students with our
teachers who teaches us our everyday lesson and prepared us to our
future journey with new knowledge and more learning to gain. The
enjoyable days we have as we take our class has been dismiss with a
threat of a new virus without any new medication had been made.
The class has been canceled in the country without any idea when will
come back and the new modalities entered without hesitation class came
back with a new set-up of your parents, your teacher without any survey
have been conducted.
Now we will face the new style of learning in our study and knowledge.
THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Issues of Grade school Parents on New Learning modalities and How

they face the issues

This research was based on the study of (UNICEF) distance

learning modalities was the first idea introduces to the teachers and
parents so that our learners will not be left behind. The schools been
reopen and the new learning modalities applied. When COVID-19 has
led to widening of gaps between those with opportunities to access
online learning and resources had continued engagements with their
teachers, and those with few or even resources has been no opportunities
to learn and been struggling to learn during school closures.
The apprehended roll out of distance learning comes up with new
innovations to help the other learners to connect with their teachers. To
continue their study by distributing SLM (Self Learning Module) but the
burden by pass thru the parents on how they will teach their children in
their studies, how they can compete with the others even it’s not a
competition. A parent without an educational background how can they
teach their children even them don’t know how to read and right. The
struggle their facing is the teacher’s problem to.
Now the teachers can help the parents by trained them on how
they can teach the new modalities and can be a good support to the
students in how to effectively learn and engage through such modalities.
One of the greatest supports that can be given to parents is to
prepare both teachers and their students to work with distance learning
modalities.
As a result, several governments have implemented a variety of
learning methods. They do not necessitate the use of any technology or
technologies that are more widely accessible when putting together such
projects; it's helpful to have a plan. High-tech modalities (such as online
platforms and apps) from low- or no-tech modalities (such as television,
radio, SMS, and printed learning materials), which have a considerably
wider reach. Another important distinction is between one-way
modalities, which allow children to study independently though with the
help of parents or even older siblings and teacher-guided modalities.
It is critical that teachers continue to engage and communicate
with their students, deliver assignments, and, most importantly, provide
timely feedback during school closures. For those with connected
devices, this can be done through cellphone calls and Texts, as well as
social media.
THE SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM
Modalities Matrix, across the four learning classifications (the four
corners in the Matrix):2
1. Low/no tech – self-learning
2. Low/no tech – teacher-guided learning
3. High tech – self-learning
4. High tech – teacher-guided learning

The articles to follow would go through the most effective learning

modalities and how they can be used for self-learning or teacher-guided
learning during school closures, with a focus on low- and no-tech
modalities to reach the most disadvantaged and marginalized children.

“During school closures, it is important that teachers

Continue to engage and interact with their students, provide
Assignments, and, importantly, provide timely feedback.”
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

It's understandable that this wave of learning may not always be

workable and useful, especially when the change has been rapid rather
than gradual. As a response, parents are concerned about the challenges
that distant learning presents. As required, the use of internet and
technology at particular times.
Parents also mentioned that they have had to handle homework
more than ever before, including explaining worksheets and other tasks.
Parents across the nation are obviously worried about how their
children's routines have already been severely disturbed. To fix this
concern, they created homemade timetables that ensure that children
have something to do at given times and have a healthy sleep-wake
cycle. One of the parents expressed her desire to have her child's day start
and conclude like a regular school day.
