themselves.

e. Required Readings:

“Renato Constantino Veneration Without Understanding, 1976”

“Armando Malay Veneration With Understanding, 1976”

e.1.Compare and contrast the idea that was presented in the two readings.

Renato Constantino's Veneration Without Understanding examines Rizal's historical origins to determine whether or not
he deserves to be our national hero. Considering Rizal's reformist beliefs, racial aspirations, concept of liberty, and
campaign for Filipino independence, the article offers an in-depth examination of how we might learn about Rizal's limits
and apply them to our own development. He was only attempting to demonstrate how limited our understanding of
Rizal is, and how this misunderstanding might be applied to current difficulties such as rejecting colonialism, achieving
sense of nationalism, and longing for liberation. Following the reading of both papers, I, as a reader and a Filipino, began
to question the amount to which I comprehend my admiration for Rizal. The Definition of Heroism What exactly qualifies
someone to be called a hero? The best chance Constantino has becoming a true hero is to take part in a revolution. I
admire his viewpoint, yet I believe with Malaya that this was not the sole criterion for true heroism.
