locate cells
● Quality of slide should be good enough for the analyzer to locate the cells needed for the
analysis

7. Use a freshly stained slide from a blood

sample with WBC count within the normal
range
8. Open the input hatch and place QC slide
into the loading tray
● Frosted slide label is positioned to
the right, blood smear is facing up

Verify that the analyzer has located all

nucleated cells
● Examine the overview image and counting
any cells that have not been located by the
analyzer
● Analyzer will calculate the percentage of
nucleated cells that have been nucleated

The slide that has been processed in the last QC

run is selected and the first image from the cell
location slide is opened
● Cells that have been located by the
analyzer are highlighted with a green, blue
or black frame

16. Count nucleated cells that have not been

located or marked by analyzer
automatically
17. Enter the number in “WBCs + nRBCs

18. Repeat procedure with every image using

the next button
19. Under “Total Results” check the ratio of
WBCs and nRBCs found is within the
laboratory’s establish limits
● If limit is reached daily QC is invalid
