JAZZ

Jazz is a type of music that is often improvised. Jazz music was developed by African
Americans and influenced by European harmonic structures and African rhythms.

Around 1860, jazz music has an African-American slang term, namely jasm which means
energy. Then on November 14, 1916, the New Orleans Times newspaper, first used the term suit
bands.

string bass.

The next style is the swing style. In contrast to dixieland, the swing style uses a large
ensemble of musical instruments to play the song. Musical instruments that are usually used are the

and occasionally using the guitar. In swing-style jazz, usually a lot of improvisation is done.

Bebop or commonly called Bop, this style marks the return of jazz music using a small
ensemble. The main characteristics of this style are that the harmonies are more complex, the
tempo is more and often faster, and the melodic lines are not broken. The style of jazz music
continues to experience rapid development. This development is based on the style of jazz music
that has existed before.
