    JAZZ

    Jazz is a type of music that is often improvised. Jazz music was developed by African
    Americans and influenced by European harmonic structures and African rhythms.

    Around 1860, jazz music has an African-American slang term, namely jasm which means
    energy. Then on November 14, 1916, the New Orleans Times newspaper, first used the term suit
    bands.

    Quoting from the American History website, it is written that jazz is a type of music that
    prioritizes and emphasizes improvisational elements. Jazz music can also express a variety of
    different feelings and emotions. From happiness to tears. Not only that, jazz music is also a means
    to convey freedom, for those who are oppressed or have been treated unfairly. One of the
    characteristics of jazz music is the use of a trumpet as a musical instrument, so that it becomes a

    typical music of the United States, which developed in the early 20th century.

    Dixieland is the earliest and most famous style of jazz. Dixieland thrives in New Orleans. In
    this style, jazz musicians will use small ensemble musical instruments, namely the clarinet, trumpet
    and trombone. Not only that, playing a song is also accompanied by drums, banjo, piano, tuba, and
    string bass.

    The next style is the swing style. In contrast to dixieland, the swing style uses a large
    ensemble of musical instruments to play the song. Musical instruments that are usually used are the
    saxophone, trumpet and trombone. As for the accompaniment using the piano, bass strings, drums,
    and occasionally using the guitar. In swing-style jazz, usually a lot of improvisation is done.

    Bebop or commonly called Bop, this style marks the return of jazz music using a small
    ensemble. The main characteristics of this style are that the harmonies are more complex, the
    tempo is more and often faster, and the melodic lines are not broken. The style of jazz music
    continues to experience rapid development. This development is based on the style of jazz music
    that has existed before.
