Though several system of the preparation and execution of talismanic magic exist among the Arabs, one
of the oldest forms, and perhaps one of the most complete, is that appertaining to the zodiacal method.
This is based upon several distinct hypotheses. In the first place, each sign of the zodiac is stated to have
a sex: masculine, feminine, or neuter; to have a name, which is deemed important, and must be
written in the Arabic script and none other, according to the adepts; a perfume in harmony with its
attributes; a colour and a number. This is expressed in the following table. For illustration of the actual
method of writing a talisman, with the Arabic equivalents of the names, see illustration of Arabic
Amulets.
According to the Arab magicians, this table contains the epitome of all talismans within a certain range
of ideas. One manuscript states that invisibility may be obtained by using the table in this way:
In the day and the hour of Mercury, the aspirant should make a talisman, by writing on a piece of square
or octagonal paper, with a reed pen, his name, the astrological sign under which he was born, and the
words „La.'Ayn“, on one side. This paper should then be laid in a box made of a white wood. A clear day
should then elapse, during which the operator is warned not to carry metal upon his person, or to
approach women. This is followed by a three-day fast, subject to the following regime: the fast to be
from dawn to sunset, for the three days; only water may be taken during the period of the fast. No loose
or idle talk is to be indulged in; and preferbly silence should be observed. No stimulants may be taken;
the talisman must be taken from the box at intervals of two hours during daylight, in private, and the
following words pronounced over it:
In the name of Sulayman, son of Daut, O Jinn of the power of invisibility: come thou near to me, and
permeate me with thy power. By him who made you his slave, by his Seal and word, I command thee.
The good Jinni have been put on the earth to serve men; to serve those invoking the name of the great,
the wise Suleyman. Thou canst not disobey his command, through me.
Take care, adds magician, that no woman see or hear you work, and that no animals be present during
this process. At the end of the third day-that is, at sunset – remove the talisman, and inscribe, with the
same pen, in parallel lines, the sign and name Mercury, and the number 4. When this has been done,
repair to your chamber, and draw a circle on the ground, leaving the box containing the talisman outside
the circle, with the top open. Close the eyes, and repeat:
In the name of Sulayman, son of Daut, upon whom be peace; who made all the Jinn subject to him; I
(give your name here, says the adept), do hereby, and in the name of king Sulayman, and by his seal as
my oath, bind myself to use the power that thou shalt give me in the way I think best, and to keep my
power a secret from all.
This is to be repeated seventy and seven times. At the close of this we are informed that the jinn will
appear. This manifestation is said to occur in any of several forms, but he may possibly manifest himself
in the form of a tall, thin man, and make obeisance. The following dialogue is then stated to occur: the
jinn will ask by what right he has been brought; to which answer must be given in a firm voice.
„By the seal, by the Name, and by the mandate of the King Sulayman, son of Daut, upon whom be
peace“. To which the jinn will reply while performing a prostration, „Peace be upon the great king; what
dost thou desire, O Master?“
Then, says the sage, ask him for the power of invisibility; „but ask not for any other secret, or he will
disappear“. You are then told to ratify the pact by making the jinn swear in the name of Sulayman, son
of Daut, that he will reappear at any time, upon being called by name; and he will give you his name,
and then you will be able to call upon him at known to you, we are warned, must never be divulged to
anyone, even one's own brother, and must always be spoken in a whisper when calling him.
Just as invisibility is governed by the jinn operating under the star Mercury, we are told that each sign
and star has major and minor attributes; of these, should a talisman be desired for another purpose, the
major attributes are these:
The potentialities inheritant in this knowledge is claimen by the magicians to be twofold: either in the
conjuring and commanding of a jinn who presides over the desired secret or power, in precisely the
same way as outlined in the case of invisibility; or in the divination or establishing of affinities between
persons, things, or places.
Take the muslin and paint on it magical fi gures; then roll it very tight into a wick for the oil lamp. These
figures are: (see tilsam)
Note: The first letter at the top-right and the fi fth letter to its left may look similar, but are actually two
different letters.
Make sure you are in a secluded room with no light other than the lamp. Place the magical tablet in the
center of your working area. On the red candle, write the names of Micail and Mazer. On the blue
candle, write the names of the malaik Jabriel and Kamtam. On the white candle, write the names of
Israfil and Qaswarah. On the green or black candle, inscribe the names of Azrail and Taykal. Place the
four candles on their respective four corners on the tablet. Light the candles and the lamp and burn
some sweet incense that contains cilantro.
STEP TWO: Recite the Berhatiah at least seven times with the intent of enlisting the aid of the four Elder
Kings.
STEP THREE: Recite the following three thousand and four times with a strong and commanding voice:
“An Ifreet from the Jinn said, ‘I will bring it to you before you get up from your chair and I am upon this
task powerful and to be trusted.’ ” Every hundred recitations from the three thousand and four times,
intone the following conjuration:
“Answer me O Mazer, O Kamtam, O Qaswarah and O Taykal by honor of the Creator of the prophet
Sulayman ibn Daut , who was a king of men and jinn. Be friendly to me and send to me from among your
rank a spiritual ifreet to help me with my affair, which is (insert it), quickly and peacefully. Answer me by
the honor of Ahin Qaf Adam Hm Ha'amin and the great and honor letters Qaf and Nun – Kun! Answer
me and let your aid manifest to me (insert goal) quickly, even before I stand up from my seat, for I have
sworn an oath over you with the Great Names. Bring (insert goal) about for me, quickly, and set upon
this task a powerful and trusted ifreet who fears the Creator. By the honor of the grandiose king and the
spiritual malaiks Chabayl, Chaktahyl, Ghatsabayl, Baghthahsajayl, and the Jinn Jafshatysh, Amtahtysh,
Dafq’ghetish, Hafchaghabtish, hurry, O Mazer, O Kamtam, O Qaswarah and O Taykal and send to me
who will manifest to me (insert goal) quickly and peacefully. May the blessings of Allah be upon you and
within you.”
If you need to take a break during the recitation, then say: “Excuse me, O spirits and jinn, for I shall
return to fi nish this work shortly.” Leave things undisturbed and return to your work. Keep track of the
count. You may also divide the number of repetitions between seven or fourteen days. It isn’t a
requirement that it all be done at once or in a single setting. Just remember not to quit the operation or
slack off on it. If you start it, then finish it and work on it daily. The jinn will not take you seriously if you
can’t keep your word or maintain the vigilance for your goal. If you are planning on stretching this
operation, don’t do any release in the meantime.
-Fast for three days from dawn to dusk, starting on a Tuesday and ending on Thursday.
-During the three-day last, after each of the 5 obligatory prayers, recite the following 4277 times: „As-
Salaamu, As-samii'a, As-sarii'u“
If it pleases Allah, you will establish a contact with malaiks presences on the last night.
To acquire information on occult subjects or things unperceived by the physical senses or awareness,
recite the following verse 100x every day for 40 days after every one of the 5 obligatory prayers. On the
40th day, if it pleases Allah, the khodam of the verse would appear and inform you of the things that
you need to know. The verse to be recited:
Because of the lack of translations of the Arabic occult literature, the western culture knows very little
about the facts and origin of many magical symbols which can be found in most of the rituals that are
performed today. Most of the symbols that we come across in rituals of various magical schools are of
an Egyptian origin and no one should wonder that Egypt has been the cradle of magic and the occult
from its early days.
The hexagram or the six-pointed star is an Arabic symbol which was used in the 18th century by the
Jewish family Rothschild with the intent of making it a symbol of Judaism calling it the "Star of David".
But the origin of the hexagram needs to be found in the ancient Egypt cult of magic and wizardry. That is
the reason why we see this symbol in a lot of the Arabic talismans and amulets.
Similar mistakes are found in the name "Seven Signs of Solomon" which have nothing to do with this
magician king. The origin of these signs was best described by the grand Arabic occultist, Ahmad ibn Ali
al-Buni:
The first of the five signs is the five-pointed star, the old Arabic symbol of protection, one of the favorite
and most widespread which is seen in the fact that Islam still holds on to it, whose symbol is crescent
moon and a star.
The second sign contains three vertical lines and one wavy line. Its meaning is not completely known.
The third sign is actually the letter Mim, the first letter of the name Muhammad.
The fourth sign represents the ladder, which according to al-Buni represent closeness to God.
The sixth and the seventh sign are the letters Ha and Waw which, when combined form the word Huwa
or He, one of the symbols of God in the Qur'an.
Al-Buni believes that these seven signs represent the supreme name of Allah and according to that each
talisman and amulet that are written or etched with these symbols ensure God's protection and power.
Every spell works only with the help of spiritual beings and according to that every magi strives to make
contact and cooperation with one of them. In Arabian magic, the largest grasp a magi can have, is if he
manages to capture one of the servants of magic known as Hudam or Khodam, with his magical rituals.
Those magi who are more skilled and who are braver try to set up a contract with
one of the Jinn rulers, by which a large gate to a Jinn army will be opened, to the magi, who will be at his
service at any time. Namely, according to some data, every Jinn ruler has an army of 800-120 billion
under his rule, according to this information it is easy to understand what such a contract would mean
to a magi. Of course such a possibility is not free and has its price.
Based on such a Jinn contract the magi has to gratify the rulers sexual appetite by offering him his
mother, sister or wife with whom he will have sex while they are asleep. When the Jinn champion
gratifies his sexual urges he then bestows the magi with some supernatural powers so that he can
perform any magic that he wishes and they include telepathy, travel around the globe in one second,
invisibility, detection of hidden treasures, etc.
For the magi to communicate with the Jinn there is no need for a contract or prostitution, it is enough to
follow the guidelines of the ancient ceremonies. In the rituals of Daire (exorcism) two Jinn names are
commonly mentioned, Tarsh and Tariush, which can be seen in the summoning or Azimet: "Tarsh!
Tariush! Descend! Answer! Where did the sultan go with his army? Where is al-Ahmar, the sultan and
his army? Answer; you servants of these names!" In this spiritualistic ritual where a child is used as a
mediator, the magi can contact the Jinn through the child and ask questions.
The list of Jinn names from various groups and tribes is very long and it is practically impossible to up-
date it in a single unit, but following the descriptions and guidelines of various Arabian rituals it is
possible to determine the nature of most of the Jinn. Tashyush, Latyush, Dalayush, Tvakapush, Arkapush
are examples of good Jinn as opposed to Raahush, Vahyush, Ghayush, Ghafush and others. There are
also Jinn that have a varying nature, therefore their behavior depends from their current mood and the
purpose of their summoning, like the Jinn Shamyush.
Since the Jinn are connected to magic each one of them has their own function and they are called upon
in certain rituals. A Jinn child by the name Zaazui is used in powerful love spells that cause longing and
sensuality. When a magi wants to receive a person, he then takes a white brick, puts it in a box and
closes it. Then he pronounces magical words (azimet) and opens the box. Inside it he will see a soppy
baby. The magi then asks the baby to bring him the person that he asks for and he will return him to his
Jinn mother.
Magical tilsum
If a person void urine involuntarily in his sleep, the following tilsum is to be written and suspended to his
neck.
Tilsum
By keeping the following tilsum (talisman) near one, jinns, faires (peri), and enchanters will not attack
them.
Talisman egg
-O servents of these names, arouse and bring she, who is N., daughter of N, to him, who is N. son of N.
Place the egg in a fire. Pour the incenses of good over the egg. Recite the invocation three time. If the
time has been suitably elected, the target will come, bewildered, with no clue as to where she is.
Write the following talisman on an article of the target's clothing. Twist the clothing into a wick and coat
it with crude wax. Enter the bathroom and light the wick inside out while burning frankincense, bdelium,
and sandarac. Commission the spirits of the names (in the talisman) to make the target fall in love.
Thereupon the target will fall in love and come.
Seven jinn kings
Each of these jinn kings also has multiple aides or assistants from
their tribes and many other offspring. As a matter of general principle, the kings should always be called
under the auspices of angels. At no point should you call them forth to run any kind of errands. If you
need their aid for something, always ask them to send someone to you from their tribe to assist you.
This point of not asking the Kings directly has been emphasized repeatedly by many of masters in our
tradition. While we are not going to reveal any techniques for summoning these jinn, you may choose to
do so anyway. If so, keep in mind the following points:
a) when the kings arrive, you must ask them to enter into a pact of service to you;
b) if you think you have managed to constrain them into a triangle of the art, then it isn’t the kings that
are present;
e) if you see physical manifestation of Jinn, be careful lest this be a distraction by their aides;
g) don’t go into this thinking to rely on traditional generic banishing methods, as their magic is superior
to anything we possess, so only by the grace of the Goddess and Her angels will you be protected;
h) don’t ask them to do something against their nature, such as asking Meymoon to aid you in a love
spell, for they will do it and then punish you.
Each of these is said to have many children and is called after the
son of John is Tob, then they would call you John, Father of Tob. The
word for father in Arabic is Abba and the name for son is
ibn. Meymoon is known as Meymoon Abba Nuch, which means that his
son is Nuch ibn Maymon. This is important to know since there are
many jinn with the name Meymoon. So, when calling the jinn king of
Saturn, we have to identify him specifi cally with his full title Maymon
Abba Nuch.
A section on binding
Make a long needle from wire, giving it an eye, and let its sharp point be far from its eye. Conjure with
this conjuration twenty-one times and then let the target step on it. This is the conjuration that you say:
„Hoosh (x2), Loosh (x2), Walish (x2)“. Then you write them on a red paper and bury underneath the site
doorstep of the target. The intent will happen and Allah knows best the right way and to Him is the
return and everlasting abode.
This is the seal of the verse „ the people adorned“ and its total is 1951.
Get two sparrows. Slaughter one of them. Write the following on a piece of paper using its blood: (see
talisman).
Affix the paper to the wing of the living sparrow. Set the sparrow free in the face on your target.
Evil eye
Gaza became the largest concentration camp in the history of mankind which lasts for over 40 years.
With the world watching, Israel expelled millions of Palestinians from their homes, continuing their Nazi
policy and killing innocent people without regard whether it is a small child, a woman or an old man. For
them the Palestinians are a people that need to perish and without a doubt in that regard they are
copying Hitler and Nazi Germany- anyone who watches the news will notice that Israel usually kills ten
Palestinians, with no regards of the gender or age, for every solider they lose.
It is ironical that the people who are presenting themselves as victims of the holocaust are committing
the same atrocities over the Palestinian people. The once "holly land" is everything but holly, today it is
a land filled with blood of the worst crimes and everyday killings. The Israelites are no longer a people
who experience genocide but a people who commit genocide.
But no matter what Palestine is still alive and breathing. We need to write and talk about Palestine and
its people and we should never let the memory of Palestine fade from existence.
The Palestine people as well as the rest of the Arab world have a rich store of folklore and beliefs. The
most famous beliefs relate to spellbound eyes and their detrimental effect on people, especially
children. According to the beliefs in Palestine, if a child falls ill suddenly after a visit from guest and starts
crying for no reason and starts to reject food, it is then believed that it had fallen prey to the guest's
spellbound eyes.
The ritual of annulling spellbound eyes is usually done by the mother or some old lady surrounded by a
couple of curious women that are anxiously observing the ritual.
To neutralize foreign evil the mother needs to take three fingers of flour and salt, that need to be clean
for this occasion, and repeat the following magical formula:
„Bism al-ain, bismi en-nadra, bism el-hasud“. And then throw the salt and flour in a metal container
filled with hot coals adding to that mixture some dust from four rooms, seven grains of barley, a piece of
Alum, and then she takes one hair from all the present inhabitants of the house („min atarha“). If one
knows for sure who has spellbound the child, then it is only necessary to take a piece of thread from
that person. To the hot coal a couple of seed of incense are added and one needs to wait for the thick
fog to form in which the child will be bathed while pronouncing the magical formula. While holding the
metal container (bassat nar) the woman that is conducting the ritual circles around the child saying:
„Smallah alek! Hawattak ballah udachiltak lallah...“.
The magical formula is repeated three times and then the woman dips hands into a prepared vessel full
of water and shaking it off in the direction of the fire she pronounces: „Ih! Intefi ja uwenw bin nuwere!
En-nar lamakanha wel-ain Allah la'anha“. If squeaking sound are heard coming from the fire, that is
deemed as a good sign-the effect of spellbound eyes is disappearing. Animated by what she hears the
woman continues with the pronunciation of another magical formula to neutralize the evil: „Takhat,
sahat. Ain el-adu rahat kusch! El-ebid“.
But if the effect is not forthcoming then the present women whisper and conclude that the spellbound
eyes have resisted the power of the fire. Because of this revelation everyone is awaiting for the fire to
burn down and for all the ingredients to melt and for it to cool down and form some kind of a figure,
mostly it is determined who caused the child to be spellbound, the evil starts to lose its power.
A detrimental item for spellbound eyes is garlic, as is believed in Palastine, whose smell keeps away
most evil from human beings.
Method:
The same preparations apply as for the previous ritual for evoking a jinn king: This ritual should be done
at night in a quiet secluded place
in the woods or forest 'neath nature's canopy with no one around. If you fail to find an appropriate
place you may use your room but make sure that you are not disturbed in any way. There should not be
irritating anywhere in the vicinity. The room should be in complete darkness. Do not allow any light to
penetrate the room. Jinns as a rule, dislike bright places.
The evoction ceremony should be preceded by a cleansing, a holy wash, or preferably a ritual shower.
Wear clean clothings for the magickal ritual – wear a robe or a protective west if you have one.
This ritual should be proceded ba 3 days of fasting from dawn to dusk. No meat or animal products are
to be consumed during the 3-day fasting period.
During the fast, after every 5 of the obligatory prayers recite the following for 1500x: „Hailuusyin“.
Benzoin incense from the East should be burned during these recitations. On the third and last day, an
attractive jinn familiar spirit would appear. He or she would declare their readiness to serve your needs.
Possession
This is for all tribes of the jinn. You write it on the possessed person's palm and recite it. It has powerful
ifreets. It is as follows: „Atlat,Qush, Ataysha'ush, Qurush, Akaykayush, Tabaykar, Akaykawa, Harmaya,
Wamarya, Wakhathayta, Shahush, Shatwah, Nashuh“.
These are the ones in charge of the signet ring, plus their seal, and their subjugation.
You say: O Barakh, Barakh, Ashnaydayan X2, Jayash x2, Qartayush, A bham, Tuhum, Shalikh. Hurry, O
wings of the muwakil and glorification of the Spiritual Ones, by the glory of El, the One, the Subduer,
who does as He wills. Make haste, O Maymoon, I Mitatrun, O Halish, O Majlish; answer by the honor of
the One, the Triumphant, Who does as He pleases.
Section on sending Maymoon as a messenger
Write these five names on the fingers of your left hand. The charge is on the inside of your palm. Hold
your penis with your left hand and incense with the right hand and recite the names one thousand
times. The incense is frankincense and benzoin. These are the names: „Anish x2, Mashlamish x2, Aysh
x2, Maqash x2, Kayhoosh x2. Be charged, O servants of these names , do to N. as I am doing from the
evening till morning, by right of the burster of days.
If someone brings a possessed person to you, and a Wind from among the jinn is in him, write the
following for him to make his possessing jinni manifest himself. When he manifests, order that the Wind
be bound, saying: Lafa, Lafa, Hafyah, Ay, Hay, Barhi. Surrender by the right of Him who has dominion
over ye, and by the right of Aqshary Tahrash. Bind him, O Maymoon.

the army, the jinn, and the soldiers? Where is Jama'ah the Christian? Where is Angry Abdullah? Where is
Shaqshaq the Jew? Where is Salih ibn Atat the Christian? Where is al-Hayajee? Where he who possess
weapons and riding animals? Where are the Winds? Where is Bani Ruqah? Where are those who sought
shelter and then took their horses and were taken by al-Lati wa ul-Uzzah. If you do not do what I have
commanded you, I wil expose you before the armies, the jinn, the soldiers, and the children of ifrits;
Hamal, Hamal, Aqshatan, Aqshatan, Atoroosh, Atoroosh, Hameet, Hameet and Alahameet, Alahameet.
These are children of the ifrits who enthrall. I take from you, O N. son of N., three hundred sixty-six
veins, including the one between your things, which stems from between your eyes. If it stands, it will
bend; if it bends, it will become crooked; if it becomes crooked, it will fail; if it fails, it will become lazy; it
will die down; it it dies down, it will fade away; if it fades away, it will worry; if it worries, it will become
sad; if it becomes sad, it will die: if it dies, it will vanish.'Surely you shall die and they shall surely die.
Then surely on the day of resurrection you will contend one with another before you Lord'.

al-waqf
) was first introduced by the people of ancient Egypt and India believing that it represents a strong
symbol that protects from all evil. For that reason they carried it like an amulet, and also carved the
symbol above the door and all other places that they wanted to protect. Later, the squares were used by
the Arabian astrologers for the production of natal horoscopes and therefore taking another important
place.
The whole science about magical squares and seals (khatam) drains its knowledge from "ilm ul-huruf"
which means science of letters.
These are only some of the 27 rules for the production of magical squares and triangles(waqf):
-One shouldn't eat too much, the stomach mustn't be laden with food
-One should avoid eating foods that have an unpleasant smell, like onions, garlic, etc.
-The things on which a waqf will be produced must be well taken care of
-For each waqf there is a qasem (curse, wish) and it should be pronounced during the creation of the
talisman
-One should have clean clothes, clean body and a clean place where the waqf will be created. Also care
must be taken that the material necessary for writing is in order (pen, ink, place where the inscription is
made, etc.)
-One must face the holly city of Mecca.
Write the following on the palm of your right hand using a mixture of musk and saffron: „By Alshaqash
Da'ooj“. Place your palm over the incense. Turn your face towards the east and recite the following
incantation until your hand turns over and closes by itself: „Ba'alshatal (x2), Batad (x2), Bakahooshal
(x2), Bata'a'amash (x2), Bataqhrayoosh (x2), Basabtaqoosh (x2), Baykashalish (x2), Hashool (x2), Heshool
(x2). I conjure you, O Queen Aynah, by the right of the name that, having descended upon the solid
stone, caused it to crumble: upon the earth, leveled it; upon the mountain, caused it to be imbedded;
upon the night, darkened it; and upon the day, made it grow bright; and by Alshaqash (x2), Allah's
verses, Akhfakh (x2), Haqhalash (x2), Allah's verses, Da'ooj (x2). Answer me, O Queen Aynah, make
haste, hear my conjuration, hurry, smell my incense, and appear to me. Bless you“.
For incense, you take six dirhams of liquid storax, six dirhams of sandarac, and six dirhams of
frankincense, mix them together until a paste is formed, fashion pellets out of this paste, and then loss
them into the fire, one after the other.
After she replies, and you copulate with her, send her away by reciting the following Dismissal seven
times: „Destroying everything by the command of its Lord, so they became such that naught could be
seen except their dwellings“.
If you want to do any spell at night, then mention its servants. As if the nights say after the release of the
inhabitant: „Come, O N., servant of this night and do (state your need)“. Call him with his name.

The use of amulets was justified by a saying of Mohammed: "There is no wrong in using charms and
spells so long as you do not associate anything with God!" Those who prepare Tilsum (or hamail) are, in
most cases, acquainted with astrology, astronomy and geomancy, with the aid of which they fix up the
auspicious hour. In geomancy, dots and lines have their own significance. The time for writing an amulet
is fixed. Mysterious signs and words are used as spells, while numbers and human and animal figures
play an important role. Magic words, formulae, the different names of God, and of angels, sentences
from the Quran, etc., engraved on square-sized metal (silver) plate, or on paper or on silk, and written
over in saffron coloured or black ink, and sprinkled in certain cases with perfume or rose-water , form
the staple of amulets and charms in use. These are worn on the body after some formality, so that the
possessor may be sure of its effect. The day and hour for putting on a Tilsum is fixed by the writer, and
women wear it in their necklaces, or as part of a head ornament. Some Tilsum are made with a definite
object in view, for example, for a disease or to attract one's beloved or as a safeguard against evil genii.
Some are used for securing general good also.
Many amulets are used primarily for protection against the evil eye (al- 'ain, al-nazra, al-hasad), the jinn,
and the 'afarit. The widespread belief in the existence of the mysterious power of evil is justified by
passages in the Qur'an and the prophetic traditions (hadith).
These magical formulae and signs include the “highest name of Allah“ or „ismillahil-asma“, as well as
combinations of the seven letters of the Arabic alphabet that do not appear in the first chapter of the
Qur'an. These seven letters refer to the seven kings of the jinn as well as to a cosmological system that
does not need to be examined here because it is largely unknown to the general population and is in
fact reserved for a small number od specialists.
Magic tool:
1. The ink used for writing amulets is saffron water, rose water, orange water, the juice of onions, water
from the sacred well of Zem Zem, and sometimes even human blood.
2. Frankincense and coriander played an important role during magic rituals. Coriander is called teffah l-
jinn, «the apples of the jinn.»

In the world today the three most famous magic's are: Arabian, Gipsy and Voodoo which have a lot of
similarities but also a lot of differences.
The most popular magic is of course the one that is called red magic or love magic. It is used today by
millions of people to improve their love life, to win back their partner, to evoke feelings in somebody or
to just become more attractive. But love magic is not just a target of interest of anonymous people, it
has been used by many past celebrities like Jacqueline Bouvier the widow of Kennedy and Onassis who
had three witches that helped her, one was in New York, the other in Athens and the third one in Paris.
Other celebrities were also seeking the help of those who knew how to create love magic, namely Cary
Grant, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Robert Redford, Sean Connery, Catherine Deneuve, Rita Hayworth,
Petula Clark, Brigit Bardot, Merlin Monroe etc.
Naturally, today the need for the occult is even more pronounced in celebrities, a desire to be famous,
rich, protected, loved or to know ones future transformed magic into a large industry that has a yearly
turnover of one million Euros. In the world today the three most famous magic's are: Arabian, Gipsy and
Voodoo which have a lot of similarities but also a lot of differences. They all have in common the
immense ritualistic strength as well as the ability to annul themselves with humans. In the following
passages we will show the easiest way to master love magic from the Arabian occult tradition and how
to use it to keep your partner, better the relations in marriage, seduce a person that you fancy, disable
cheating in marriage, etc.
The whole system of love magic that comes from the Arabian lands is based on the practice of building
talismans, amulets, binding knots and summoning Jinn's. The source of this magical practice derives
from ancient Egypt which is still considered as the cradle of magic. The Egyptian magic is regarded as the
most powerful magic, this is understood from the numerous writings and records about miraculous
events in the courts of the pharaoh as well as the fascinating rituals that were done by the priests of this
land. An important contribution to magic and its perusal we owe to ancient Persia (Iran) and their
priests known as Magi from which the word magic and magician is derived, one who practices magic.
Arabian love magic is done by tracking the lunar system or the Arabian months that is the time when the
new moon is visible. All love magic is done during particular days in a week and at that time when it is
most suitable. If this rule is not observed there will be no results. The old Arabian occultists claim that
the most successful magic is done during the first days of Arabian months, before sunrise, on some high
point or some hill. Also it is necessary to know that the hours of Jupiter, Sun and Venus are assigned for
every kind of love magic. All other planets and their hours should be avoided if one wishes to see
results.
Amulet necklace of 49 glass beads resembling eyes, worn to overt the Evil
Eye, from Hebron, Palestine, 1880-1930.
Tales of their role in the history of Iran, Iraq and the neighboring countries are so pervasive, one simply
can't dismiss the possibility of their existence. Genies are divided into five types: Marid, Afreet, Sheitan,
Ghilan and Jann. The Marid are the strongest, while the Afreet possess vast intelligence. The Sheitan are
the ugliest and Ghilan are shape-shifting flesh- eaters.
Jann are mostly known for their habit of stealing cows. A free jinni – one not under the control of a
human master – is said to be one of the most dangerous forces in nature.
Followers of the Prophet exercise a strong belief in jinn. Such spirit beings can be benign or frighteningly
evil. In many instances, jinn are presented as instruments of temptation. There is a well-known jinn in
Morocco who goes by the name Aisha Qandisha. She seeks to seduce men. If a man capitulates to her
charms, then he forever becomes her slave. The way to resist such a tragic consequence is to plunge a
steel knife into the ground, and break her spell over him.
In Algeria, a similar jinn-spirit is known as Betjallal. The name in Arabic means “lady of splendor.” More
than a few Algerian men believe they are married to this jinn and experiance sexual intercourse with
her.
Knot magic
The expression of «binding» takes us back to the probably oldest branch of Arabic magic where the use
of knots play an important role.
Knot magic is another form of magical control Arabs believe in. For instance, a male sexual dysfunction
may be regarded as being caused by a jealous woman who wants to destroy a marriage, thus knotting
the husband.
This next spell is for women only involves the use of a piece of string.
This spell originates from the Yemen and is mentioned in the Quran. Obtain a piece of string and tie nine
knots. Whilst tying the knots repeat the spell:
According to lore, the prophet believed at one time that he was suffering from a spell of bewitchment
cast by a man whose daughters tied the spell into a cord with 11 knots and hid the cord in a well.
Muhammad fell seriously ill. God sent the malaik Jibriel with these two suras and instructed him to
teach Mohammad how to use them and where to find the cord. The prophet recited over the 11 knots
the 11 verses of the two chapters [the basmalah of sura 114 is not counted within this story as a verse].
At the end of each recital one knot was untied by an unseen power. As soon as all the knots were
loosened the prophet was freed from his serious illness.”
The suras of refuge are also described as being widely used in protective magic.
Powerful talisman (vefk)
At the time of sexual relations, if this taweez is kept in the bed, one will be blessed with a son. If one
recites the word „Ya Rashid“ all difficulties will be solved. In case a man is addicted to drinking then the
talisman be washed and water be taken by him for 40 days, one will leave the habit of drinking.

For above purposes write this talisman and bury it in an old grave. Take it out on 7th day in the morning
and burnt it. It will create enmity between the persons whose names have been written at the bottom
of the talisman.
In case a boy, girl or any body leaves the house often and the house people are worrie over his/her
behaviour. The talisman be written with musk on a loaf which be eaten by the boy or girl etc., who will
remain under control.
For A Missing Person
When a person is missing or has left the house without intimation and their whereabouts are not
known, the following talisman can be used to trace him or her. Write the talisman on a piece of paper
with black ink. Put this talisman in a small bucket and lower into a well. If you hear a sound of laughing,
the missing person is alive. If you hear weeping, the person is dead. If nothing happens, , mystery
shrouds the missing person but, the man is certainly alive.
Red magic
There are a lot of answers to the question of how did love or red magic came to be? One of the more
interesting is known in Arabic occultism where this type of magic is connected with the mysterious
Atlantis. Allegedly, 30 000 years ago, spiritual beings walked the earth which founded ancient Atlantis.
That continent was made up of seven islands, and since earth was at the time still hot, geometrically it
resembled a red rose and that's why this flower became its trademark. Each island had its own city,
while the capital city of all islands was Atlantis. There was a huge temple inside of it, darkest of them all,
called the black temple of Atlantis. But, it had nothing to do with black magic, instead red magic was
exclusively practiced. In its time, Atlantis had an extremely advanced civilization and science and religion
did not exist in the form that is familiar to us today, instead it was based on practice of rituals of red
magic which was used by all its inhabitants. Because of that sin, according to the legend, Allah punished
them by destroying Atlantis which sunk into the sea and since then it was never again seen. But, other
versions of this legend explain how it came to the conflict between the Atlanteans themselves and how
amidst such events it came to the cataclysm. However it may be, spiritual beings which lived on that
mysterious continent did not disappear, rather they stayed living in their supernatural world which
intertwines with the human world. It is assumed that they live in the Bermuda triangle. Throughout
numerous legends of the ancient world but also religious legends of monotheism numerous cases were
described when the spiritual beings from Atlantis (gods, angels, demons, faeries.) communicated with
humans and transferred their knowledge onto them, among other things rituals of red magic.
Today when we read Arabic grimoire dedicated to love magic, we can truly conclude that a red rose is
the original symbol of red magic. In most descriptions it is insisted on the usage of rose water for the
preparation of spells with the remark that without it the magic won't have any effect. A similar
congruence is found in Bosnian magic which is best illustrated by the description of this spell: In order
for a woman to win over a man she must take a red rose and drink it with a glass of water in order to
obtain rose water. She would add three drops on menstrual blood in the water and a drop of blood from
the thumb of the right and left hand and blood from the toe of the right and left foot according to the
system right hand, left leg and vice versa. When the love potion is ready it is served by a few drops in
the coffee or juice. The most ideal time for the production of the potion is a night of a full moon or the
first Friday after the appearance of the new moon.
I must immediately mention to all of you that by practicing rituals described in this book you will not
become the most desirable person in the town or that you will have however you wish. Such a thing is
an impossible mission and exceeds all spheres of normal thinking. One of the first rules of Bosnian love
magic is that, with magic you can only influence a person that at least has a crush on you or a person
that finds you physically attractive. Meaning, that person has to have a positive opinion about you. You
cannot influence a person that doesn't know you or that finds you repulsive. That's why as the author of
the book I'm recommending to you to use magic only when you are in a relationship or married. No
matter how stable the relationship currently is and full of enthusiasm, just remember that even a fire
stops burning if you don't add new wood. That's why love magic should be a stimulant that should
strengthen the chains of love which bound you and should elongate bodily sensations and emotional
enthusiasm.
Similarly you must know that love spells, no matter the strength and intensity, cannot destroy true love
of a couple because when emotions are true and love is deep then it is stronger than any magic. Avoid
getting caught up into others love relations because such acts cause a karmic punishment. Use rather
love divination and look if the partners are harmonious, do they get along and what is their future like. If
trough divination you see that their common future is not bright, arm yourselves with patience and wait
for the person you desire to become available. In the meantime there is a possibility that you will cool
off from such a desire and that you will connect with a new person or that you will give yourself time to
get to know the other person better and build for starters a stable friendly relationship. In either case
you will act wisely and correctly.
Following cartographic chart be prepared and burnt in a brand new carthen lamp with mustard oil. The
person under influence be asked to gaze it. When it is burnt off completely keep the lamp safely. Repeat
thid action second and third day also. Suitable time for this action is after Maghrib or after Isha. And the
place where this action is conducted be aloof or secluded.
The Charm of al-Fatiha
Whoever writes all the letters of al-Fatihah in a clean basin, rinses it with rainwater and then gives it to a
sick person will surely cure the sick person, with God's blessing. And if the person has been charmed or
tied up, he will surely be rid of the charm or set free.
Al-Fatihah, when written in a clean basin with clean ink and rinsed with clean water, which is then
rubbed onto the sick person once over his whole body and three times over the affected area while the
following verses are recited three times, will cure the person of his pain:
Rasulullah s.a.w. says that a person who has pain in his body and recites al-Fatihah three times, lays his
fingers on the affected area and then says the following lines seven times, will surely be cured of his
pain:
Write the following talismans on eight pieces of paper-one on each paper-along with the Commission:
Wrap one white peppercorn in the first piece of paper, two in the second, three in the third, etc.
Cast the papers in a fire while saying the following:“ Inflame the heart of N.with the love of N., the right
of these talismans and names.“
If you want to do any spell at night, then mention its servants. As if the nights say after the release of the
inhabitant: „Come, O N., O servant of this night and do (state your need).“ Call him with his name.
Bosniacs people are the only one in the Balkans that use the word nafaka on an everyday basis. In
accordance to this it is worth analyzing culturally and linguistically this word, because of its
immeasurable role in studying the traditional life of our people. At the very beginning of this short study
it is necessary to note one irrefutable fact which states that the Bosniacs people in its long history were
exposed to numerous misfortunes, even a real danger of extinction, but what has kept and saved them
is their cheerful spirit and incorrigible optimism often summed up in this short phrase: “God will give us
nafaka!”.
Nafaka is an Arabic word which reached us through the Ottomans. It is very important in Islamic
teaching since it manifests Allah’s mercy and in the Turkish language it has numerous synonyms. In
Bosnian nafaka is translated in a few ways: alimentation, provisions, supply or supply for life. Two more
terms in everyday use which signify wellbeing and success are the Persian word baht – luck, we come
across it in certain love spells, and the Arabic word bereket (berićet) – progress, prosperity. Besides
these others, especially in folk speech, in use are words of similar meaning such as hair, rizk, rahatluk,
etc. All of these represent fertile and positive events which present themselves as feelings of content,
ecstasy and optimism. Psychological effect is manifested in the weight of the word nafaka, which
compares her to the state of hoe, solace or hidden happiness. All of this is evident in statements such as:
“You never know where your nafaka is waiting for you!”, “New day – new nafaka!”, etc. This is why
people believe in nafaka fatalistically (“No one can take away your nafaka!”), like almost everything else
that is tied to the holly and divine.
Definition of the term nafaka is a relatively wide and according to some dictionaries could be shortly
describes by the following: “what is determined for a human to eat in this world”. When a diseased lives
long, it is said: “he collected (or bought) his nafaka” – when someone before they die eats a lot he
desires to eat what is his in this world.
According to my opinion nafaka is a term which in everyday discussions takes the place of the term luck
but also human destiny i.e. life. Perhaps it would be explained simply that nafaka signifies everything
that a person is destined to receive and live through as ordained by God. Among the folk we can often
hear “every child carries (brings forth) their nafaka”, which was used by poor parents to protect
themselves from the criticism of their surrounding because they’re poor enough even without children.
Identification of human birth, living and death is summed up in the collective consciousness of Bosniacs
people in the term of nafaka; “He was born with such nafaka!”, “Whosever is born with good nafaka no
one can harm him!", “Such is his nafaka!”, “He ran out of nafaka and died”. “Nafaka is the best hero!” –
according to the belief in destiny, if someone is destined to live, i.e. he didn’t run out of nafaka, he can
avoid death and become a hero. According to folk tales a man lives so long as God has prescribed nafaka
to him, not a minute longer. On that day when a man uses up his nafaka he will die. According to the
above we can conclude that folk wisdom doesn’t know happy and unhappy people, but classifies them
exclusively with greater or lesser nafaka.
Belief in nafaka is a perfect example how long certain beliefs were deeply incorporated in the traditional
lives and that they create a certain notion of an individual towards society, but also himself. Primeval
desire and need of every human being is to a large extent determined by the percentage of luck in their
life, since as folklore deliberation suggests, a happy man is healthy, successful and cheerful. That’s why
everyone of us intimately identifies with the term nafaka. However, from the tales of older people we
could easily conclude that the perception of nafaka is individual and primarily depends on the
percentage of modesty, i.e. how much an individual is content.
Origin of nafaka coincides with the folk belief about human fate. Still to this day it is believed that Allah
determines the destiny of every embryo in its first 40 days, which is why an ugly person marries a
beautiful woman, a stupid man becomes rich, etc. Certainly, there are opposite examples but all of them
are a product of smaller or greater nafaka which a person carries inside of them. I remember the
discussion with the late Bilka, stravarka from Stijena (Cazin), almost a decade ago, which used to talk
about herself and her work and often said that she always had nafaka, as if it came out of the earth or
fell from the heaven, she used to say. Based on the above we could conclude that nafaka is weaved into
the human beings, but that it also exists in everything around us due to its divine source.
To some extent nafaka can be called god’s justice. –“No one can take away your nafaka!”, older people
would say when they wanted to explain fatalism, the thing which was destined to someone. For
example, it happened that a father desired to leave his inheritance to the youngest child, despite the
opposition of other family members. No matter the various blackmails and games that the family played
in order to change the fathers mind, the house in the end was left to the youngest child.
Also, without halal (permissible) there is no nafaka. Namely, there will be no nafaka in the thing given as
gift unless it is given from the heart – halal. That’s why stolen or forcefully taken things are unlucky since
they don’t have god’s mercy in them.
Nafaka is a word which creates pleasure and happiness and ubiquitous way favours human senses. It
caresses his eyes and ears, seduces the nose and overwhelms with pleasure the palate. If a sudden guest
arrives during coffee or lunch, people would tell him: “You came with nafaka, come on in!” or
"Welcome, it is your nafaka to eat (drink) this with us!”. However, terminology in this case cannot be
simple in this case nor can it be summed up in such an obscure form. Namely, in folk discussions for
meal the term often used, even today in rural areas, was "nimet", primarily for bread or cake, but
generally for food also. Therefore it is wrong to equate the term nafaka with food, instead it should be
viewed through a wider prism, in which we can hint numerous meaning of everything which this Arabic
word represents.
Summoning nafaka
Generally, though considered to be divine gift of mercy, i.e. something that mortals have no effect on,
strong desire for it among the people gave birth to various ritual actions that summon nafaka. Desire for
nobility dominates in them since a generous act attracts good which is what the saying from Kladuša
confirms: “Give alms, continue nafaka!”. Similarly, grandmothers and grandfathers which bless the
young would often say: “May Allah give you gani nafaku!” or “May god give you unimaginable nafaka!”,
people claim that it is better than “the seen one” since it s greater and more plentiful.
In Cazin and Velika Kladuša the prevailing belief was that nafaka could be summoned, namely, when one
would buy cattle or something else it was a custom to buy it in the name of the family member for
which it was believed to have the most nafaka, in order to allude that with such a purchase the thing
would be nafakali i.e. advanced and happy. Similarly, when buying a stove the first fire will be lit by the
family member which was thought of as having the most nafaka in life, in order for the home and family
to be prosperous and protected against evil.
In this part of Bosnia a ritual with trahana (tarahana – Persian stew) was known which was used to
summon i.e. stimulate nafaka. If someone is unhappy, business isn’t doing well or is prone to bad luck,
during young Friday he would make trahana but in such a matter to let it overflow on fire (stove). While
the boiling white water is overflowing from the vessel the person would repeat three times:
on all sides,
Bosnian:
na sve strane,
After cooking tarhana in this manner and cooling it, it would be consumed for three days. Some
informants recommend eating the stew in small batches for seven days. In such a manner, it was
believed, nafaka would be summoned.
In this context we shouldn’t forget to mention halva – sweet that takes an honourable place among
Bosnian people. It is traditionally made (roasted) on the eve of Ramadan, Laylat al-Qadr and Eid, since its
smell cleanses the entire house and attracts nafaka and wellbeing.
To be of a lucky hand
Tying food and nafaka is not rare in folklore of our people and is especially evident in marital customs,
part where the bride arrives before the grooms house, where she is showered in candy and money. At
the threshold of the house she is welcomed by a poor woman, she takes her shoes off, and the bride
gives her a gift. A little later she is welcomed by the mother-in-law with the Qur’an and cake with two
jugs of water in hand. She places the cake under her left and Qur’an under her right armpit, two jugs
each in one hand. Bride reaches the hearth, Qur’an is given to the women, cake and water is placed on
the hearth. It is believed, that the bride brings nafaka into the house with this ritual gesture. Also, it was
a custom for the bride and the groom to “break” the cakes, and if for example a larger piece of the cake
stays in the grooms hand it was believed that he will have greater nafaka, and vice versa.
In Velika Kladuš in the past there was a custom of a bride spreading her handkerchief on the threshold
of the house and kissing it, before entering the grooms house. She enters the house with her right foot
and someone takes off her shoes, since some money would be hidden in her shoes as a gift for the
person that takes off her shoes, she then goes towards the hearth. She kneels there, she divides the
embers using tongs, throws her handkerchief into the fire to burn – for nafaka.
For certain jobs it is very important to be gifted with nafaka. Namely, for a stravarka widely known for
successful lead melting or for an Imam which writes effective talismans and amulets, people say that
they have “nafakali (lucky) hand”. While melting lead, there are a lot of small pieces at the bottom of the
vessel, the stravarka will comment: “it is nafakali!”, i.e. the diseased will get better.
Before starting the divination process the diviner asks for the money from the client in order to encircle
the cards or beads three times around it and place the money in her pocket, explaining that the process
if used for nafaka. Similarly, if nine groups of four beads appear during the divination process, so called
hadžirli hatma, the diviner will utter contently: “Your beads have fallen on a great nafaka, cover it with a
red cloth!”.
In the end we should mention the following belief according to which it is not good to give names to
children of deceased family members since “whoever died he has no nafaka left”.
Existence of the ghost or spiritual world always spurred great interest among people. How i t came to be
and what kind of creatures inhabit it is somewhat explained in the holly books, however, more
information is provided through folk tales in which numerous experiences by talented individuals have
been accumulated, heightened sensibility by such individuals and their occult knowledge opened the
doors of gaib for them – the invisible world and enabled communication and insight of ethereal forms
which dwell in that second reality.
According to the mythological traditions of the Middle East during the time that almighty Allah created
the first people he didn’t divide the world into material and spiritual, however, since people were
deathly horrified when meeting Jinn beings, especially their children, the wise Allah decided to separate
humans and Jinn by placing an invisible curtain between them, thus creating two worlds, or better to say
two spheres, one of humans and the other of spirits. Since then humans and Jinn exist side by side
without much issues, with one exception that they can see us clearly and we cannot see them.
In the world of gaib which literally is teeming with the numerous population of various spirits, Iblis is the
king of all Jinn, and as such he causes great contradictions among theologians, especially regarding his
origin. Certain scholars believe that in the beginning Iblis was an angel, others that he is the son of a Jinn
which was taken into heaven to get an education, where he got the name Azazil. Egyptian philologists
derivate the name Iblis from the root b-l-s which means “has nothing to expect”, since Iblis has nothing
to expect from Allah’s mercy due to Iblis’ evil nature. We come across a belief that Iblis belongs to earth
Jinn which is evidenced by his name Al-Hakam i.e. judge which he gained at the time when Allah sent
him to judge his kind, when Iblis was a young Jinn only a thousand years old. In the second thousand
years Iblis grew haughty and led a rebellion against god and his rule.
The most interesting thesis about Iblis relates to his sex i.e. suggests that he is a hermaphrodite which
lives in a distant island in the middle of the sea where he lays three thousand eggs from which then
come the Jinn. Iblis sends them to all parts of the world in order to spread and strengthen his dominion
across earth.
Jinn as people
Some pre-Islamic polytheists claimed that the name Jinn signifies souls of planets which is why,
accidentally or not, in Arabic occultism we come across seven planets and seven Jinn kings which are
arranged according to their influence.
In the hierarchy of creation of Jinn the lowest class are Ifrit or Afarit. Allegedly, according to legends
Ifrits can be created from humans which die suddenly or violently since out of such shocking trauma for
the human soul and Ifrit is born. After them come the Maridi, Jinn which lives underground, and so forth
in the long list of these supernatural beings.
When it comes to the appearance of these ethereal creatures we need to mention that there are
numerous species or tribes of Jinn, where each is different from the other. But, despite this we can
enumerate their common characteristics. The largest Jinn has a body 17 meters tall and the smallest 17
centimeters. While dwelling in their world the Jinn have a sort of veil over them but when they appear
in the material world then they’re dressed in yellow since it is an equivalent of fire. Their presence in the
human dimension is given away by an unpleasant smell made out of a mixture of sulfur and tar. Another
interesting detail which can help identify Jinn is that they have four fingers, they don’t have a thumb –
unique symbol of a human. Other specific features are their eyes which resemble those of reptiles,
especially snakes, but once they materialize in front of people then they get red eye with a burning
glow.
Jinn speak all earthly languages, even the old and forgotten ones, similarly they have their own language
which they can teach to individuals they come into contact with and form an alliance. Their world is a
copy of the human world i.e. they have their states, cities, rulers, families, they love or hate each other,
kill each other, perform war, give birth etc. They have various religions which existed in the world, there
are atheists, even cannibals. They’re present across the galaxy and inhabit various planets. They live for
a very long time, a couple of thousand years and are temperamental and difficult since they stem from a
flame of molten lava which shaped our planet millions of years ago.
Shaytan work
Unlike the Jinn, Shaytan in Bosnian tradition are described as small creatures green-yellow in color with
a long tail. One eye is open while the other is closed, since he cannot see with that eye. Also, though
they have two legs they’re actually lame. They literally drag the other leg. Because of these defects on
the spiritual ladder their rank is the lowest, they’re cowards by nature, they can be chased away by a
common curse. But, they shouldn’t be underestimated since they can be cunning. In Islamic tradition
Shaytan is actually the one that leads people into sin and not the Jinn. Namely, when a Shaytan enters a
human and possesses him, then the person will become pronouncedly prone to vices; gambling,
infidelity, alcoholism, drugs, lying and treason. If a person is possessed by a Jinn the person then loses
his mind, becomes a psychiatrist case, has hallucinations, has one part of the body paralyzed, suffers
epilepsy or falls into delirium.
Since Shaytan are extremely frustrated due to their physical appearance and deformity, as well as the
position he takes, he is obsessed daily with jealousy and hatred towards everything and everyone – this
literally seeps from the healthy but spellbound eye. In our tradition it is claimed that Shaytan like to
gather near springs and observe people, especially young girls and young men which come there to
drink water, in order to spellbound them with their eye. Unlike the Jinn, Shaytan are extremely tied to
humans and they like to be near them. We learn about this from the tales of our Bogomil forefathers
which recounted that the Shaytan purposefully made holes in the earthen human body and in a wicked
way managed to climb the resurrected human’s left shoulder and stay there forever, becoming a part of
his nature and character.
In cunning, skillful deceits and limitless persistence lies the Shaytan’s strength and power. At the same
time this demonstrates the thesis that we’re talking about a pretty intelligent being which knows
studiously human nature and weaknesses. Besides the shoulder Shaytan have other favorite places in
which they dwell and among them is the landmark or border over which people quarrel and hate each
other about since the old days. Actually, wherever there is a fight or bad blood, folk wisdom will say, the
Shaytan will dwell.
Also, in each house there is the same number of Shaytan as the number of household inhabitants,
however the number of Shaytan can be increased using a tabooed activity, for example if you sharpen
one knife against another knife. Therefore each time one sharpens a knife it should be passed through
fire and the prayer Euzubilah should be uttered. In this way they’re chased away.
Prophecy about a female Shaytan
It is interesting to note that in Persian-Arabic magic there is no ritual of invoking the Shaytan but only
the Jinn. We can conclude thus that they’re untamable and stubborn creatures whose primary mission
from the day they were created, to create unrest and doubt into the hearts of humans and to cause
them to behave badly. Shaytan are thus true enemies of religion and exemplary life. Because of the
pronounced influence into human history and everyday life we shouldn’t wonder why people paid them
more attention than the Jinn, which resulted in them becoming parts of numerous folklore tales and
prophecies.
Old Bosnian grandfathers and grandmothers still today talk about the things they remembered from
their forefathers’ traditions which spoke about our world being ruled over by a male Shaytan, which
according to the old folk was better since he was a male. But, with the coming of the new millennium
the ruler has changed and humans entered a catastrophic age.
-“When a female Shaytan rules of the earth – the old people would warn us – “hard times will arrive, our
people (Bosnian) will scatter across the world, we will desire to see each other. While the female
Shaytan rules over the world a great stone will fall from the sky and destroy Mecca and Medina. After
that more people will attend a funeral in Bosnia than there will be living in Mecca and Medina. That will
be the punishment from the lord for those that defiled and desecrated the purest religion with their
greed and infidelity.
In the rest of the prophecy old people said the following: “Woman and animal will have more rights than
any male, all values will disappear and other grotesque rules will be enforced in order to degrade the
human kind to that primitive animal level…” As we can infer from the rest of the prophecy about the
female Shaytan it is evident that a nuclear war will take place on earth which will lead to the complete
destruction of our civilization but the human population will decrease drastically, those that survive will
mutate due to the radiation and will give birth to small children with only one eye, which in itself
resembles the Shaytan. Life will continue below the earth since on the surface no condition for living will
remain.
In Bosnian magic tradition there are numerous ways of defending oneself from negative energy (black
magic, evil eyes, demons) but the use of amulets is considered to be especially efficient and effective.
Wearing the amulet, besides having an effect on the physical body and aura, has a psychological effect
since it gives additional dose of security and self-confidence to the wearer. According to traditional
belief it is recommended for every man to wear an amulet in order to be protected from negative
energy with which he comes into contact with daily, especially when coming into contact with other
people.
Every man has his own destiny, whose course is mostly dominated by luck, but, that positive energy is
often blocked by other people with their negative emotions, especially jealousy or black magic. Then the
life force of the man can often be blocked and he usually acts only with 50% of his capacity and he
doesn't achieve significant results. He constantly has the same negative things occur to him, failures and
accidents. The person cannot find an adequate love partner, have business success or he is often sick.
That of course has direct effect on the psyche which results in lack of self-confidence, depression,
anxious, increased stress, etc. The thing which is especially important when using an amulet is the fact
that it has the same effect on the person that believes in its power and on the one that is suspicious.
The content of the amulet, hirz or hijab, is varied and depends mostly on the spiritual knowledge of the
one creating it that's why we come across amulets with only one or numerous prayers, amulets with
magical squares and certain quotes from the Qur'an, amulets with letters, figures of a human, sword,
snake, or amulets with all of the above. In a text amulets of an unknown mage the use and function of
the amulet is best described: "To protect from the devil, Jinn, wizard, afrits, against attack, pain, disease
of eyes, headaches, weakness, red wind (Erizipel), fever and every disease. The best protection is with
Allah. The Merciful always forgives. There is neither power nor strength, only with God, Magnificent and
Omnipotent!"
Though it has the power to act in all the mentioned segments people use it mostly if they were victims
of a magical attack or they feel that they could become victims. That's why an amulet is always
constructed when a man desires to do so, in order to obtain immunity against the negative effect of
other people, or as a mandatory rule after the process of elimination of black magic, in order to protect
oneself and prevent a possible return of magic.
Namely, like good, evil is also an indestructible energy which can only be moved or transferred onto
another person or location. That practice is very famous in Bosnian tradition and the targets of such
occult transmissions were usually special categories of people such as "women whose hair is falling out",
"men that are going to the mosque", "people separating in a flea market", etc. A strict rule that
everyone must follow is that evil mustn't be directed at children nor pregnant women. Rather than
everything mentioned the practitioner of white magic directs all negative energy onto abandoned
houses or mills or generally "to the dark Hawaii", mythological wasteland, where no sound is heard and
where there is no fertility.
Though generally there is a belief that amulet against evil can be created at any time of the day or night,
there are still certain preferences which the Bosnian mages adhere to, namely, amulet is traditionally
always waited for, i.e. the client has ordered it and after 15 or 30 days he gets it. The reason for this is
that in Bosnia it is constructed in the second half of the lunar cycle, last 14 days prior to the lunar cycle,
always after midnight. In that way it receives a specific power of protection and elimination of every
magical effect.
Since the amulet, at least for the first 40 days, must be in contact with the body, the mage folds the
paper he used to write and draw symbols into a shape of a triangle, then it is wrapped in sticky tape and
subsequently wrapped in a red cloth, or red cloth bag, and after the expiration of that period it can be
carried in the wallet or purse. To the question, why is the bodily contact necessary for the initial 40 days,
the simplest answer is that this number represents symbols of physical and spiritual regeneration, but
also fate, and that's why it is very present in the tradition of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Text, i.e. the content of the amulet must not come into contact with dust or moisture, that's why it must
be protected by sticky tape, so that it's owner can go to the toilet or other places which are considered
to be unclean. With the amulet as an addition one often places a leaf of nacre (Ruta graveolens) because
of its apotropaic characteristics. It is mandatory to bathe it in smoke from the root of elecampane (Inula
helenium) using a special formula.
Every time when the amulet is given to the client, the mage or Imam warns him that he must take care
of it since it can lose its power of protection if someone accidentally or on purpose punctures it with a
needle and in such a manner it disrupts its content. That's why an amulet is always taken care of.
Similarly, if someone steals your amulet then they can hurt you with black magic.
Besides it having a function to protect from negative energy the amulet is very efficient against diseases
but also negative propaganda. Today, as in the past, many companies as well as business people order
amulets in order to protect their business space from hate and jealousy of the competition which often
uses black magic to destroy their enemies.
There are a few type of amulets: for the protection of individuals, protection of the house, business
object, for the protection of the land, etc. If the amulet is being constructed for a person from the family
which doesn't want to carry it with herself then the amulet is constructed using a small picture of the
owner and is wrapped in a special cloth, coated in wax, then it is positioned above the bed which the
man uses to sleep. From that place it will protect him from black magic and attack from the Jinn
(demon's).
It is necessary to take a larger fildžan (a cup for coffee without a handle) and pour water into it until it
barely reaches half. After that on the palm of the child's right hand in which he will hold the cup the
following talisman is drawn and written with blank ink:.
Garčević claims that a talisman of same dimensions and content is written on a piece of paper, it is then
placed on the child's right palm on which the same talisman is already drawn, then a cup with water is
placed on top of all that.
After that, another paper is taken whose dimensions are determined by the width and height of the
child's forehead. With black ink on that paper the following words shall be written:.
Paper with a written note is placed on the medium's forehead, so that the text is visible, i.e. legible.
When all of this is done, the practitioner takes a knife and makes a circle around himself and the
medium. Some practitioners are prone to drawing three circles, because they feel safer by raising a
much stronger barrier against the unpredictable and evil Jinn. Namely, during the entire time the Jinn
are present, for the practitioner and medium, the only safe place in the room is on the rug delimited by
a circle or circles.
With that, however, not all preparatory actions are complete for the ritual to begin. It is necessary to
write on four same sized papers a magical square, and write the following Arabic letters inside:.
When he has completed everything, the practitioner takes the papers with the magical squares and
throws one by one onto hot embers, namely, in the same dish in which he threw incense, sticks or
fragranced resin from time to time during the ceremony. The smell has a special meaning in the entire
ritual. The smell itself, should determine the type or sort of Jinn which will respond to the call of the
practitioner. If pleasant fragrances are used, then the good Jinn should answer the call, and if
unpleasant and heavy smells are used, such as tar, tobacco and the like are used, there is a great
possibility that the room will be filled by evil Jinn. All in all, burning and choosing fragrances is very
important, since smells, definitely, calm the wrath of the Jinn, affect their mood and obedience, and
decreases their drive for revenge.
The rest of the ceremony happens fast. Medium which is holding a cup with water on its palm, covers
his head with a light see-through green veil. From that moment on, the gaze of the medium should rest
on the surface of the water in the cup. His task is to inform the practitioner as soon as he sees a picture
or form on the surface. During that time the practitioner utters the prayer of Jinn invocation and he
repeats this until the medium says that he sees an image of Jinn, which mostly remind of dwarfs with
pointy hats. Their faces, at least according to Garčević, are more than unusual and ugly: "Lower lip is
dragged on the floor, and their ears are so long that they too are dragged on the floor. They're not
prone to talking. Usually, they only answer questions or perform orders quietly!"
The moment when the medium sees a wide green meadow on which small demon apparitions start
gathering the medium must inform the practitioner of this, to which he usually replies: "Repeat after
me! Let your king come!" the medium orders by a very light almost pleading tone, which is correct to do
in this instance. Dwarfish figures, which can sometimes be clad in a military uniform, immediately obey
and complete the order. when the leader appears among the Jinn, the practitioner, out of respect rises
to his feet. He will sit back down when the medium informs him that the king of the Jinn has taken his
place on the throne, which his obedient companions have brought with them.
Now comes the most important thing, the thing that started the ritual. Since we are talking about
"finding a cure" for the diseased, who is usually present during the entire ceremony, the practitioner
tells the medium: "Ask them about the reason of the disease!..." practitioner, of course, presumes that
the patient has fell ill because of a Jinn attack, since this ritual is performed only for the diseased who
were victims of demon aggression. Because of this the practitioner asks: "Did you bring the attacker?!..."
since the medium sees at one moment the Jinn bring a miniature creature, which is no different from
the others, he must inform the practitioner of it: "There, they brought him before me. I can see him."
This is a sign that the summoned Jinn have completed the order which he requested. The diseased is
freed from mental pain, which will be manifested by a short loss of consciousness, and the practitioner
begins with certain prayers the process of disbanding the Jinn tribe. Of course, there are prayers which
are uttered, if the gathered Jinn are not able to free the diseased from a defiant and stubborn Jinn. Then
the ritual lasts longer, and the practitioner must be very experienced and have in his "arsenal" different
curses, blasphemies and threats, he must possess strong arguments for his orders to be completed
without question, for the tempter to be removed or even liquidated.
JINN INVOCATION
Contact with the spirit world is as old as man himself. In all civilizations in the past, without exception,
there were mystical rituals for this purpose, which were a privilege of a small group of people, and
secret knowledge and wisdom were guarded behind "seven locks". In Bosnia and Herzegovina the most
famous way of invoking good or bad demons is called - daira. Little is known about this process since it
has been reserved for individuals, usually individual religious teachers or individuals proficient in magic.
Daira is an Arabic word which means circle. Practicing daire would literally mean - gathering Jinn into a
circle. This is partially true since the practitioner with the help of a medium and accompanying props
establishes communication with the Jinn, in order to discern the reason for the disease of a human, and
to free a person from the possession of a demon and to completely cure him or her. The entire
ceremony resembles a spiritual summoning of ghosts, but there are a lot of essential differences. While
in spiritual séances of ghost summoning, the medium and those present don't have the opportunity to
see the ghosts with their eyes, in the daire ritual, no matter how fabulous it may seem, the Jinn are
quite visible!
Muhamed Garčević writes about this in his book "Zapisi i hamajlije"(inscriptions and amulets) published
in 1942 in Banja Luka - "As different as it is, it is as dangerous. Especially for the ones not capable of such
work. Even for people skilled and capable in that magical act, things happened, and the incompetent
were hurt in such a manner that they were disfigured both physically and mentally for the rest of their
lives. The revenge of the Jinn for the careless and incompetent practitioners would end in one of the
following ways: their mouths would move to their ears to the left or right side, their legs or arms would
be numb, they would lose their vision, they would be mute or would stutter their entire lives, etc.
According to Muhamed Garčević, persons which desire to invoke the Jinn, i.e. those trying to
communicate with them, first must be god fearing, they must not eat food of animal origin (meat, eggs,
fat,...), and bring vegetarian cuisine to a minimum; abstain from frequent sexual acts, spend more time
in prayer than sleeping, guard oneself from another's hakk (appropriation of another's property), live
humbly on one's own salary, respecting all values of the religious codex!
It is not hard to discern that with this way of life one wants to strengthen the spiritual side of the human
nature which largely helps when one invokes the Jinn (daire) and authoritative communication with the
Jinn, which easily spot the weak, reckless and uncontrolled persons. On the other side, only moral
persons strengthened by prayers are capable of making effective talismans and amulets and carry all the
risks which bring with themselves contact with evil spiritual beings.
Ritual invocation of the Jinn requires large physical and mental effort and is not practiced often. To
minimise the risks, the practitioner with the help of a special astrological system, determines the correct
day and hour when he will start the mystical ritual. When that moment arrives, the invoker - as Garčević
mentions - takes ablution (washing face and specific body parts, which every Muslim performs before
the start of the prayer), acquires sedžada i.e. a clean mat on which the religious ceremony is performed,
as well as a smaller dish, in which some hot ember is placed, on which he will burn incense sticks or
scented roots while the ritual lasts, and takes a midsized knife with a black handle, as an open threat for
the wicked and disobedient Jinn.
The séance is done in a clear and ventilated area, rarely fumigated by pleasant oriental fragrances, on
whose walls there cannot be a photograph or a painting of people or animals on which their eyes are
evident, and for the failure a medium is necessary. Usually it is a boy or girl aged between ten and
twelve years, if possible with green eyes, since people with green eyes, it is believed, establish contact
with spiritual beings easier than others. It is usually hard to reach the child, therefore the practitioners
of the ritual, as Garčević mentions, usually engage the child with a trick, not explaining to him that he
will be an intermediary between him and the Jinn.
When this ritual is organized to cure a mentally ill person, the patient is usually accompanied by his
closest kin, cousin or friend, who has a duty to answer instead of the diseased. But, the moment the talk
begins, he must pray to Allah and he mustn't show fear, disturbance and react no matter what happens
in the room during the ritual. The woman during their menstrual period are not allowed to be present
during the ritual, skilled and able practitioners can free the diseased from physical ills and attack from
the Jinn even though he owns a personal item of the person that he is representing. One could say,
therefore, telepathically, but actually it is not telepathy. We are talking about something else.
There are a dozen ways of attracting Jinn. Some are more and some less complicated, but all carry
certain danger and risks and are therefore not recommended to unstable, greedy and religiously
uneducated people, especially those who do not follow the values of religious codex. Before this
mystical procedure is initiated it is necessary to prostrate the sedžada towards kibla (southeast). The
practitioner and his medium (girl or boy) will sit on it on their knees. Their faces must be turned towards
each other, and their knees must touch at all times.
After that the practitioner takes the knife with a black handle, with the blade of the knife to his left he
begins to draw the circle around himself and the medium. While drawing the circle, in an undertone he
utters the 255 chapter of the prayer Bakara. The duration of the drawing should coincide with the
duration of the prayer. Then he thrusts the knife to the place where the circle begins and ends and holds
it there while the ceremony of invocation is not completed. Close to his hand, in the circle itself, it is
mandatory for a bowl with hot embers to be present, in which he will, from time to time, place incense
or some other fragranced root.
