The Preference of G12-Humss Students Between New Normal Education and Traditional Education
CHAPTER 1
This chapter includes the introduction, background of the study, theoretical framework,
conceptual framework, statement of the problem, hypothesis, significance, scope and limitation of the
study and definition of term.
Introduction
In times of pandemic all of us take an adjustment; even in education we have changes. The
Corona Virus COVID19 pandemic is the defining global health cases of our time which is the greatest
challenged we have faced since World War 2.
To continue the school year 2020-2021 without infraction in Global Health Protocol. DEPED
introduce the New Normal Education which has three types namely: Modular Distance Learning, Online
Distance Learning, and also Televisions/ Radio-Based Instructions. To secure our safety and to follow our
global health protocol this New Normal Education is effective and actionable for our safe operation
through the prevention, this is good for our early detection and control of COVID-19 in schools. We can
see the adjustment of the students in New Normal Education because in long time we masterly in one-to-
one discussion which is Traditional Education.
But then according to recent research there are many benefits of taking classes online. Online
programs make a college degree more accessible for many students — particularly those who are working
full-time, who have family obligations, and/or who live far from the college campus. Online classes also
give students more autonomy over their learning, and allow them to work at an individualized pace.
However, are online classes right for everyone? Today, about 1 in every 4 students claims that they learn
better via online classes. This means that 3 out of 4 students still feel they perform better in a traditional
classroom setting. When weighing online classes vs. traditional classes, it is most important to consider
your own unique learning style and scheduling needs. Therefore the straggles we encountered and
adjustment we take can decide and answer the preferences of students between New Normal Education
and Traditional Education.
This section of the study will include a brief review about the preferences of students between
New Normal Education and Traditional Education. In Traditional Education they always talk in front of
the class and always required a physical presence and interaction between teacher and students. On the
other hands is New Normal Education like modular distribution and retrievals. This is different for our
Traditional Education because it has no discussion It mostly self-studying which is 1 to 2 weeks and more
in one lesson.
Theoretical Framework
The researcher used a theory about a comparative analysis of student performance in online vs.
face-to-face environmental Science Course from 2009 to 2016. It used to see if student performance was
affected by instructional medium. This study sought to compare online and face-to-face teaching.
Through these comparisons, we can investigate whether one teaching is effective and by that we can
know the preferences of students between the New Normal Education and Traditional Education.
Conceptual Framework
This study includes the dependent and independent variable. The independent variable is the
profile of the respondents who engage in New Normal Education and Traditional Education. On the other
hand is the dependent variable which is the student’s comprehension specifically the pretest.
Independent Variables
Dependent Variables
New Normal Education
Preference of Students
and Traditional Education
This study aims to determine the preferences of students between the new normal education and
traditional education. Specifically this study seeks to answer the following questions.
1. What are the problem encountered by G12- HUMSS students while taking New Normal
Education and Traditional Education before?
2. How do they cope up in New Normal Education and Traditional Education before?
3. How these experiences do affects their preferences among New Normal Education and
Traditional Education?
Hypothesis
There is significant relationship between New Normal Education and Traditional Education in the
pretest of the students.
The study deals with the preferences of students between the new normal education and
traditional education.
The Students
The direct recipient of the study is the students, who engage in New normal Education and
Traditional Education. The students is benefit because they become aware about their different challenges
encountered while dealing online studying and face-to-face classes which can affect in their preferences.
The Teachers
This study will help in teacher to have awareness about the struggle of students while studying
and their preferences between the new normal education and traditional education.
The School
This study will help school because it can give awareness about the students preferences between
the new normal education and traditional education.
This study aims to determine the preferences of students between the new normal education and
traditional education.
The researcher considered the profile of the respondents such as gender and preferences of
students as their independent variable. Whereas the researchers considered the pretest scores of the
students as the comprehension test as their dependent variables.
Definition of terms
Independent Variable - the factors that you purposely change or control in order to see what is affect.
Dependent Variables - what you measure and what is affected during experiment.
Comprehension - the understanding and interpretation.
New Normal Education - which has three types: Modular Distance Learning, Online Distance Learning,
and also Televisions Radio-Based Instructions.
Traditional Education - the one-to-one discussion and face-to-face classes.
