A. Course Design

Course Title: Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I


Nominal Duration: 268 hours
Qualification Level: I
Course Description: This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and
attitudes in Shielded Metal Arc Welding in accordance with
industry standards. It covers core competencies such as
Setting-up Welding Equipment, Preparing Weld Materials, fitting
up Weld Materials, Welding Carbon Steel Plates Using SMAW
and Repairing Welds.
Trainee Entry Trainees or students wishing to gain entry into this course
Requirements: should possess the following requirements:

-physically and mentally fit
-with good moral character
-can perform basic mathematical computation
