Overview
HUAWEI Service Management Center 2.0 (SMC2.0) is a new-generation videoconferencing service
management system developed by Huawei. With its web interfaces for users with different permissions, the
SMC2.0 can be used to uniformly manage a variety of devices, including participants, Multipoint Control
Units (MCUs), Switch Centers (SCs), and Recording & Streaming Engines (RSEs), to schedule, initiate, and
control video conferences, and to allocate and schedule conference resources in a unified manner.

Inspection After Unpacking the Carton


After unpacking the carton, check items in the carton according to Table 1.

Preinstall Report

Preparations
Powering On the Server
Place the RH2285 V2 server in the cabinet.
Connect cables, including ground cables, network cables, and power cables.
Power on the server.
For details about the preceding operations, see the RH2285 V2 Server Quick Start Guide.

Checking the Preinstallation Report


Check the preinstallation report of the SMC2.0 server and understand the default information in Table 2.

Accessing the Operating System


Remotely access the OS using the iMana.
Before accessing the OS, prepare a computer and connect the computer to the network where the
SMC2.0 server is located. Table 3 lists the requirements on the computer environment.

Use a network cable to connect the computer to the management


Physical networking network port of the iMana.
Ensure that the computer and the iMana management network
port can be pinged.

For details about the running environment for the PC client, see Operating Environment in the RH2285 V2
Server User Guide. To access this topic, choose Routine Maintenance > Overview of the iMana >
Operating Environment.

Logging In To the OS
1. Open Internet Explorer, enter https://IP address of the management network port in the address
box, and press Enter. The default value of the preceding IP address is 192.168.2.100.
2. On the iMana login page that is displayed, enter the user name and password. The default user
name and password are root and Huawei12#$ respectively.
3. Choose Remote Control > Remote Virtual Console(shared mode) from the home page of iMana.
The page for remotely logging in to the OS is displayed.
4. Enter the user name and password of the OS. The default user name and password are SWMaster
and Change_Me respectively.
If you log in to the iMana and OS for the first time, change the login password in a timely manner and record
the new password.

Activating the OS
After logging in to the OS for the first time, activate the OS in a timely manner. Unactivated system
cannot enjoy after-sales services provided by the Microsoft website.
1. Choose Start > Computer. Right-click the displayed page and choose Properties from the shortcut menu.
2. Click Change product key. In the wizard that is displayed, enter the serial number attached on the OS
CD-ROM.
3. After the installation ID is generated, dial Microsoft's after-sales service hotline to obtain the
confirmation ID.
4. Enter the obtained confirmation ID to activate the OS.
Microsoft's after-sales service hotlines in China are 8008203800 (fixed phone number) and 4008203800. For
other areas, dial the Microsoft's local after-sales service hotline.
Properly keep the OS serial number.

Configuring Network Parameters


Before you use the SMC2.0, change the SMC2.0 server IP address as planned.
1. Choose Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center >
Change adapter settings. Disable all network adapters to which no network cable is connected.
2. Change the SMC2.0 server IP address, as shown in Figure 1.

3. Click OK.
After changing the IP address, choose Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Configuration >
Services and restart the following services:
HUAWEI SwitchCenter AccessManager
HUAWEI SwitchCenter Business
HUAWEI SwitchCenter UCS Server

(Optional) Upgrading the SMC2.0


The SMC2.0 server is preinstalled with SMC2.0 software before delivery. If the preinstalled version does
not meet the site requirements, upgrade the SMC2.0 software.

To obtain the required software version, visit http://support.huawei.com/enterprise, choose Software >
Unified Communications and Collaboration > Telepresence and Videoconferencing >
Videoconferencing Infrastructure > SMC2.0, and download the desired software.
If data has been generated at your site, back up the data before an upgrade. For details, see the related
Upgrade Guide.
1. Upload the installation package to the SMC2.0 server.
2. Double-click SmcInstall.exe in the installation package, right-click Setup.bat in the SmcInstall
directory, and choose Run as administrator from the shortcut menu.
The name of the path for storing the Setup.bat file cannot contain the following characters: &, ^ , (, ).
3. The installation program runs automatically until the interface shown in Figure 2 is displayed.

4. Enter U to upgrade the database.


If you enter C, a new database will be created and the data in the original database will lose. Perform this
operation with caution.
5. Wait until the installation is complete.
After the installation is complete, the SMC2.0 server will automatically restart.

Choose Start > Administrative Tools > Server Manager > Configuration > Services and confirm
that Status of the preceding services is Started.
Logging In to the SMC2.0
Table 4 lists the requirements on client software configurations of the SMC2.0.

If you use the browser for the first time, set Compatibility View as follows:
Browser 1. Choose Tools > Compatibility View Settings.
2. Deselect Include updated website lists from Microsoft, Display intranet sites in
Compatibility View, and Display all websites in Compatibility View.
3. Click Close.

1. On the PC client, open a web browser. In the address bar, enter http://SMC2.0 server IP address
and press Enter. The login page shown in Figure 3 is displayed.

2. Enter User name and Password. The default user name and password are admin and Change_Me
respectively. Then, click Log In.
3. If you log in to the SMC2.0 for the first time, the Change User Password dialog box shown in
Figure 4 is displayed.

4. Enter the current password in the Current password text box, enter the new password in the New
Password and Confirm new password text boxes, and read and select the displayed information.
5. Click Save.
The page shown in Figure 5 is displayed.
Keep the new admin password secure. If the password is lost:
You cannot log in to the system as the admin user.
All service data is lost.
You must reinstall the SMC2.0 to recover the login permission of the admin user.

Applying for and Importing a License File


Applying for a License File
1. Log in to the web interface of the SMC2.0 as the admin user.
2. Choose Help > View License and record License ESN that is displayed on the page.
3. Use either of the following methods to apply for a license file:
Visit http://app.huawei.com/isdp/ and apply for a license file.
Send the contract No. and ESN to [email protected]. A license file will be sent to you
within one to three working days.
Importing a License File
1. Log in to the web interface of the SMC2.0 as the admin user.
2. Choose Help > View License.
3. Click Import License, select the path for storing the license file, and click Upload. The value of
License status changes to Normal.
4. On the View License page, check whether the imported license file is the one you applied for. If the
imported license file is not the one you applied for, contact Huawei technical support engineers.

Adding Participants
You can add a participant using any of the following four methods: Predefine a participant. Automatically
discover a participant. Add a manageable participant. Add an unmanageable participant. The following
provides the procedure for adding a manageable participant as an example. For details about the other
methods, see the related Configuration Guide.
Adding a Participant to the SMC2.0.
The following uses TE50 as an example to describe how to add a participant.
1. Log in to the web interface of the SMC2.0.
2. Choose Devices > Participant and click Add Participant.
3. Enter the IP address of the participant in the Device Address text box and click Next.
The configuration information of the participant is displayed.
4. Configure basic information, H.323 parameters, and SIP parameters of the participant,
as shown in Figure 6.

5. Click Add.
On the Participants page, the new participant is online, as shown in Figure 7.

Verifying the Result


If the following status icons are displayed, the participant is successfully added to the SMC2.0:

: A management connection is set up between the SMC2.0 and the participant.

: The participant is registered with a GK.

: The participant is registered with the SIP server.

Adding an MCU
You can add an MCU to the SMC2.0 using any of the following methods: Automatically discover an MCU. Add
an MCU as a manageable device. Add an MCU as an unmanageable device. The following provides the
procedure for adding as a manageable MCU as an example. For details about the other methods, see the
related Configuration Guide.

Setting Service Connection Parameters on the MCU


The following uses the VP9660 as an example to describe how to set service connection parameters.
1. Log in to the MCU web interface as the admin user.
2. Choose Settings > System > Connection Management.
3. Configure connection parameters of the MCU, as shown in Figure 8.

4. Click OK.
If Connection type is modified, you must restart the MCU as prompted.

Adding an MCU to the SMC2.0


1. Log in to the web interface of the SMC2.0.
2. Choose Devices > MCU and click Add MCU.
3. Enter the MCU IP address in the Device Address text box and click Next. The SMC2.0 starts to search
for the MCU. If the MCU is found, the MCU configuration information is displayed.
4. Configure basic information, H.323 parameters, and SIP parameters of the MCU, as shown in Figure 9.

5. Click Add.
On the MCU page, the new MCU is online, as shown in Figure 10.

Verifying the Result


If the following status icons are displayed, the MCU is successfully added to the SMC2.0:
: A management connection is set up between the SMC2.0 and the MCU.
: The MCU is registered with a GK.
: The MCU is registered with a SIP server.
: A service connection is set up between the SMC2.0 and the MCU.

Initiating a Conference
On the SMC2.0, initiate a conference to check whether the SMC2.0 functions properly.

Before scheduling a conference, ensure that:
The SMC2.0's embedded SC is online.
An MCU has been added to the SMC2.0 and the MCU is online.
At least two participants have been added to the SMC2.0 and the participants are online.

1. Log in to the web interface of the SMC2.0.


2. Choose Conferences > New Conference. The New Conference page shown in Figure 11 is displayed.

3. Retain default settings for basic conference parameters.


4. Click Add Participant. The Add Participant page shown in Figure 12 is displayed.

5. Select the required participant, click Add, and then click Close.
6. Click Schedule Conference. If the conference is scheduled successfully, the conference list is
displayed. Otherwise, an error message is displayed.
