Things to focus on:

1) Header
Refer to the below image to understand what exactly the header
in the resume is.

Tips
No photo is required.
No introduction is required as it is anyway going to be asked in
an interview.
Adding location is generally not required unless you are applying
for an international job.
Add only professional handles’ links. ( Not links to your Fb/IG
account )
No need to underline anything as done below.

Sample #2:

Would recommend to use a header like this for the following

reasons:

1) Your strength is the first thing any recruiter/interviewer

should see
- Adding links of your programming/dev profiles where
you have good ratings or good projects.

2) Basic contact details are mandatory to have so that the HR

can reach out to the candidate.

2) Projects/Internships

Structure is very important.

You can follow this kind of a structure where in you write:

1) What the project is about?

2) What all features does the project have?
3)Tech Stack
4) Link to Github
5) Deploying it is preferable and you should put a link for that. If you
don’t have one, Github link is fine. (could also include a recorded
demo link of the website if not hosted currently).

6) If the project is simple, you can add unit tests/ CI CD to the

project to add points to write about.
7) If the project is such that quality of work can be quantified,
don't forget to add that. For example : achieved 96 percent
accuracy, system now can handle 1000 requests, decreased the
time by 4 seconds etc.

8) For web development projects, you can do the following things

to make it impressive:
- write tests (unit test, integration test)
- Use CI/ CD/ GitHub Workflow, running those tests on each
push/ pull request.
- Benchmark your website's response time etc (if possible,
do a load testing)
- Use functionalities like message queues, microservice
architecture etc instead of just going with a simple
monolithic blocking web app.
- Use design patterns wherever possible.

^Make the ‘Languages/Libraries’ part bold.

Internship Sample:

Try to add some uniqueness to your market to make it stand

out. It can be a very simple tweak to an existing famous project
or you could solve a daily life problem around you with the help
of technology.

3) Academic Achievements
Whenever you are writing about any academic
achievement,be it a coding contest or a hackathon
performance, do mention the number of participants too.

How people usually write:

Finished second in College X’s annual coding event.

How it should be:

Ranked 2/1054 in a PAN India coding contest by College X.

If you have multiple contest performances to highlight, put the

name of the platform as the heading and list all the contests
below it.

Sample:
Codechef- 6* star rated 2134
September Long Challenge’19: Global Rank 100/3400
March Lunchtime Challenge’20: Global Rank 121/4500

LeetCode rated 2231

Bi-Weekly Contest #25 - Global rank 100/12100
Weekly Contest #534: Achieved a global rank of 134/9000
Note: Follow the highlighting as done in the sample text.

Also, any interviewer will relate to platforms/contests that are

well known rather than some inter or intra college event.
So try to perform well in contests on CF, Codechef, Leetcode
or Google Kickstart or Hackercup.
For hackathons, smart India/ASEAN hackathon.

4) SKILLS
- Clearly separate and mention your proficient skills
and non-proficient ones.

Additional Tips:
1) Tailor your resume according to the roles. Don't add
information about internships/ projects which is not
related to the role you're applying for.
2) Try to add keywords that are mentioned in the Job
Description in order to improve your chances of
shortlisting.
3) You can choose a template from overleaf.com (eg
Deedy Resume)
4) Restrict your resume to 1 PAGE.
