ALTERNATIVE TO ANIMAL TESTING

INTRODUCTION

Alternatives to animal testing are often less expensive, faster, and more reliable. Substituting
human experiments for animal tests does not imply putting human patients at risk. It also does
not imply a halt to medical advancement. Any experimental experiment or procedure in which a
live animal is required to experience something that is likely to cause them discomfort, misery,
pain, or long-term damage is considered an animal test. Animal trials are not the same as sending
your pet to the veterinarian. Animals used in laboratories are intentionally injured, not for their
own benefit, and are normally slaughtered at the conclusion of the experiment.
As seen in the recent film "Save Ralph," rabbits are used to research cosmetic
ingredients. Ralph is a tester, one of thousands of rabbits and other species used each year in
government-mandated chemical poisoning testing for products and their ingredients. Animal
experiments include inhaling poisonous gases from mice and rodents, force-feeding poisons to
puppies, and dripping corrosive substances into rabbits' sensitive eyes. And if a substance is
harmful to animals, it will also be sold to people.
Rather than killing animals, cell cultures may be used for research. Human cells have the
same benefits in culture as animal cells in that different cell types and tissues can be used and it
has also been used to develop novel small devices such as "organs-on-chips." These can be used
to research biological and disease processes instead of animals. Animals have no room in
laboratories. They are usually sterile, indoor environments where the animals are forced to live in
cages, with no freedom of movement or influence over their lives.

BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY

The vast majority of experimental animals are euthanized (killed) before or during the
procedure. There are no reliable figures on how many animals are euthanized in labs each year.
Animal research laboratories often dispose of not only animals, but also potentially hazardous
materials, food waste, and a range of supplies used during the testing process. Furthermore,
animal experimentation has a negative effect on water and air safety. If some believe that
experimentation on animals is acceptable, others still think it's incorrect, because the animals are
still a life and there are many alternative methods that can be studied, such as cell culture.
Animal experiments are harmful to our society even if the products they test become successful.
The positive effect of this is from experimental vaccines and drugs to transplant treatments, and
blood transfusions, animal science has aided us in making life-changing discoveries. As a result,
millions of lives have been saved or changed .The aim of this research was to ascertain the
results of animal testing and what would happen to them if it did or did not benefit and whether it
is beneficial or simply detrimental because some of the animals being studied are dying.

OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY

The researchers wanted to have an alternative tester instead of using animals to test some
cosmetics products. Instead of using animals as test subjects, researchers would use cell culture
to save animals from harm and death because some mice, rodents, rabbits, and guinea pigs tester
are suffer through assessments for skin irritation, eye irritation, and any kind of toxicity in these
cosmetic product studies. As a result, the animal can suffer serious injury or even death. To save
animals, researcher need to put a stop to this, and science needs to find an option that can be
tested without harming the animals.
Animal experiment should be prohibited because it violates the rights of animals, induces
discomfort and distress to the laboratory animals, and other methods of testing chemical toxicity
exist. Humans cannot excuse torturing and killing thousands of animals each year to conduct
laboratory tests or research drugs in the name of making life easier for themselves. Animals
should be treated with dignity and reverence, and this right is violated when animals are abused
for selfish human benefit.

FRAMEWORK
