Super white wash

 Super white wash is another form of bleach wash.
Super white wash is provided on garments made
from grey fabric & the desired garments is of white
color. Due to this wash the garments become super
white in color. This wash is only given to heavy
woven fabric garments because two steps of
bleaching is done.

 Step-1:Scouring :
 1.Add water @ 1:5=500 L, start the m/c & run the m/c for
2-5 mins to soak the garments. Then add the following
chemicals gradually over 5-7 mins:
 #Detergent………@2%.....2 KG
 #Caustic soda……@10%...10 KG
 #Hydrogen Peroxide…@12%...12L
 Soad Ash………………….@8 gm/L= 8 Kg
 #Stabilizer……………@5%....5L
 #Time X Temp…………75 mins X 95ᵒC
 After completion drain off the liqour.
Washing Mechanism

 During this period detergent & caustic soda
combindly act on fabric & remove size materials,
oils, wax, pectose etc.(the natural impurities) from
the fabric. The hydrogen peroxide produces per
hydroxyl ions that destroys the natural coloring
particle present in the garments, as a result the
garments become white in color from the natural
grey color.
 Presence of the stabilizer confirms the steady
production of per hydroxyl ions. The soda ash also
maintains the PH of the liquor to 10-11.

 Step-2:Rinsing:(Optional)
 1.Add water@1:2/3=200L-300L water.
 2.Raise the temperature of the wash bath to 40ᵒ & wash
for 5-7 minutes.
 3.By this process the loose starch particles & other
adjacent impurities will be washed away from the
garments.
 4.Drain off the liquor.
 The reason rinsing is optional because the next step is
Bleaching in which any remaining starch materials will be
dissolved so they don’t create any more problem.

 Step-3:Bleaching :
 1.Add water @ 1:5=500 L, start the m/c & run the m/c for
2-5 mins to soak the garments. Then add the following
chemicals gradually over 5-7 mins:
 #Detergent………@2%.....2 KG
 #Caustic soda……@4%...4 KG
 #Hydrogen Peroxide…@8%...8L
 #Stabilizer……………@4%....4L
 Soda Ash………………@5 gm/L....5 Kg
 #Time X Temp…………90 mins X 95ᵒC
 After completion drain off the liqour.
Washing Mechanism

 In this process the Hydrogen peroxide destroys the
remaining natural coloring particles creating a
natural white color for the garments.
 Presence of the stabilizer in the wash bath ensures
the steady production of per hydroxyl ions because
over 80ᵒC the Peroxide is exhausted very quickly.
 Soda ash is used in the liquor for maintaining the PH
level at 10-11.
 detergent & caustic soda combindly act on fabric &
remove the remaining fabric impurities.
Variables

 It is important to use less amount of chemicals in the
bleaching process than scouring otherwise the fabric
structure can be damaged.
 If you want to change the fading effect the amount of
Hydrogen per-oxide should be changed. For less white
we can consider bleaching powder or sodium
hypochlorite.
 If the amount of peroxide is changed then the amount of
stabilizer & soda ash will also be changed
proportionately.
 For variation of color the washing time & temp. is also
changed.

 Step-4:Rinsing:(Optional)
 1.Add water@1:2/3=200L-300L water.
 2.Raise the temperature of the wash bath to 40ᵒ & wash
for 5-7 minutes.
 3.By this process the loose starch particles & other
adjacent impurities will be washed away from the
garments.
 4.Drain off the liquor.
 The reason rinsing is optional because the next step is
Bleaching in which any remaining starch materials will be
dissolved so they don’t create any more problem.

 Step-5:Neutralization:
 1.Add water@1:5=500L water.
 2.Add Acetic acid @2 ml/L=1L to the liquor
 3.Wash for 5-7 mins at room temp.
 4.By this process the additional bleach present in the
garments after wash will be removed & the PH level of
the garments will be controlled at 6.8-7.2.
 5.It is an important process because if the extra bleach is
present in the garments then after storing it for 15-30 days
yellow color stain will be developed in the garments due
to chlorinization/oxidation.

 Step-6:Softening:
 1.Add water@1:3=300L water.
 2.Add softener(silicon) @0.5%-1% =500 ml-1L.
 3.Add FBA/FWA @1%=1KG.
 3.Wash for 5-10 minutes at room temperature.
 4.Drain of the liquor.
 5.By this process the garments will posses a soft hand-feel
& the white color of the garments is increased possessing
a brilliant bluish white color.
 Step-7:Hydroextruct
 Step-8:Drying
