IV. PROCEDURES
A. Before the Lesson
1. Drill
 Show to the class real or pictures of food
items. Let the pupils guess if it is
measured by g, clap your hands once, if
it is measured by kg clap your hands
twice.
 If the pictures were shown let the pupils
get the mass of each object. Be sure that
they get the correct mass and use the
appropriate unit.
2. Review
Use the object s shown in the drill portion. If pictures
were shown, prepare at least three real objects. Let the
learners get the mass of each object. Be sure to get the
correct mass and use the appropriate unit.
3. Motivation
Ask:
a. See the content of label of these items.
b. How is the content of each item measured?
c. Can you guess the mass of these items?
Then relate to the lesson

The Lesson Proper
1. Presentation
Show the word “ESTIMATE” written on a card. Then ask:
What does the word mean, explain it to them. Can you
estimate the weight of a small pack of powder soap?
Group Activity:
 Group the class into four
 Provide each group with an activity
sheet.

2. Performing the activity
Let the pupils estimate three objects that they know

that are measured in gram or kilogram. Tell them to
write the estimated mass.
Estimate the mass of each of the following
1. A small pack of powdered laundry soap
(about 70kg)
2. 3 pieces of crackers (about 25 g)
3. 7 pieces of regular- sized carabao mangoes
(about 2 kg)
4. Half sack of rice (about 25 kg)
After the Lesson
1. Generalization
Familiarity of the weight of 100 g and 1 kg will
make one good to estimate.
A. Processing the Activity

Remind the pupils that the abbreviation for gram
is g and the abbreviation kg is kg.
B. Reinforcing Activity
Let the pupils answer Gawain 1 of LM 107.
Estimate the weight of the following. Fill the space
with a gram or kilogram and its abbreviation. Write
the answers in your notebook.

V. Assignment
Find 5 objects in your home, write them on the grid
along with the estimated mass of each and weigh them
in a weighing scale. We will try to weigh them and see
how well they can estimate
