As I’ve learned in the module that globalization means the speedup of movements and
exchange (of human beings, goods, and services, capital, technologies or cultural practice) all over
the planet.
It is true that globalization really becomes part of our lives. It is in every walk of life, it is in
the office, in the market, on the road, in a fast food chain, in the school, in all people around us, it is
everywhere and it affects our daily lives!
Even small children were talented enough to used gadgets rather than the old ones. As you
looked around there were so many people sitting anywhere and busy looking at their gadgets. Some
plays ML or DOTA, some were listening with their favorite music, some were busy taking pictures
and posting it in their favorite apps, some were taking video calls with their love ones, some were
busy with their online businesses, some were taking their flight schedule online and so many reasons
to be busy with in connection with the new trend of technology that we have now a days. Alas! It is
all about globalization.
We didn’t know what globalizations really do to us. In some ways there are positive effects
that are so beneficial to people especially to us as a student. We often used our cellphones in many
aspect of our learning specially now a days that schooling was done at home and there are so many
requirements that we have to cope with and take note no teachers are in our side to assist us so we
need to rely on our gadgets for the additional knowledge that we need to acquire. As everyone says
that cellphone is not a “luho” anymore it becomes a prime commodity also.
But then, globalization isn’t good as always. There were always negative effects for every
positive reaction. We may be happy for the good result of globalization but we didn’t really know
what it brings to us later. The best way for us to do is, let us be prepared and be aware enough to
cope with the negativity that globalization may bring us.
As a student, I believed that despite the challenges that globalization may bring us, let us
take advantage for the positive side because it will give us great opportunity for the better
transformation in our education process in the coming years, which is driven in part by technologies,
and also for accessibility reasons, the needs of students and our families and by the society as a
whole.
I do believe that globalization may bring us positive or negative result, let us enjoy what are
beneficial to us. But then, let us always seek the guidance and assistance of our great Creator that
whatever globalization may bring us let His will be done not ours.
Intuitive and Strategic Thinking
According to our module and some other reading references that I’ve read, there
were so many meaning of intuitive and strategic thinking, but then if you think of those
meanings, they all have the same ideas that they want to impart us.
As a student, there were schools that I’ve been through that they were giving
standardized IQ tests. To have a high IQ meant you were smart, someone special, bound to
succeed in life if you apply it to yourself. But no one tested us for intuitional development. I
didn’t even think if what my intuitional “IQ” might be.
For me as a student, this strategic analysis is an essential factor for planning and
optimizing my schooling strategy. With the help of strategic planning, I can align and achieve
my schooling objectives with my goals in life and may be in my business over all vision.
Improving is the one that is constant in every person or students. So, I need to
improve myself. To acquire such improvement, I need to educate, plan, and prepare some
strategies to cope up with these challenging and changing environments.
As for me, may be intuitive and strategic thinking have a good result in individual’s
life. It is just on how we manage and bring out the best within us.
Fads and Trends
According to our module, I’ve learned that a fad is any form of behavior
intensely followed by a population for a short period of time. The behavior will rise
relatively quickly and fall relatively quickly once the perception of novelty is gone.
Fads often go with adolescent behaviors to do something different, people who start
or lead fads are all about capturing attention, shares excitement of a social group or
society towards something, are less about creativity than they are about reaction,
are popular with modern artist and fads pretend to be trends.
I also understand that trends have identifiable and explainable uses that are
driven by the audience’s needs. It is also an indication towards style, fashion, design,
entertainment and culture. Trends gain power over time, are about movements,
have a longer life spam of staying in popularity, consumed by a large number of
people from different sectors of society and shows a transition increase or decrease
of a particular idea, event or phenomenon.
I realized that the elements of trends are, first: trend spotting. This is the
identification of new trend. Trend spotting is attempting to see the future events or
estimating uncertain events in the present. Second: trend spotter. These are the
people who notice and report new fashion, trends and craze, identifies a person and
makes prediction about developing trends in the culture at large or in a particular
field. The last one is trend projection. This is the classical method of business
forecasting which is concerned with the movement of variables through time. It is
assumed that the future will be the logical extension of the past.
As a student, I realized that both fads and trends plays an important role in
achieving ones success, but they aren’t the same thing and need to be treated
differently. From style of clothing to styles of culture, they are about being in the
moment of life and reveling in being alive. Just keep them in perspective. We can
work with trends because that’s where our work will do the most good-long-term
thinking applied to the notion of leveraging our resources and efforts to multiply the
outcome. If you can pull some fads in, to help achieve our goal, trends can work even
better.
Emerging Trend
In this module, I learned that the different types of trends are; Megatrends. A
large social economic, political, environmental and technological change. These are
events that occur over a long period of time influencing all the aspects of life.
Macrotrends are the specific variations of megatrends. These are the children of
megatrends. Analyzing macrotrends is done by looking at certain regions and more
specific target audiences. Artificial intelligence, machine learning and blockchain
macrotrends that will persist beyond 10-20 years before being replaced. Lastly,
microtrend, it is phenomena that are born in small communities with a clear
identity, most often in opposition to the mainstream in the long run, they may
transform into more massive trends. Microtrends are the “nephew” of megatrends
and “children” of macrotrends. These microtrends can also be segmented into
categories such as marketing and media innovations, new technologies, service
innovations, innovative business models and so much more. These microtrends
typically last for 3 to 5 years.
I understand also that trends are generally created by four major factors
namely: The government, the international transactions, speculation and
expectation, and the supply and demand. These factors can cause both short-and
long-term fluctuations in the market, but it is also important to understand how all
these elements come together to create trends. while all of these major factors are
categorically different, they are closely linked to one another. Government mandates
can effect international transactions, which play a role in speculation and changes in
supply and demand can play a role in each of these other factors.
