Lesson 2: Music is an Art
I. Introduction:

Painting, architecture, drawing, literary works, music, and sports are some examples of art. all arts have
something in common. Let us find out what it is.

II. Objectives:

 Explain what an art is;


 Characterized a work of art; and
 Prove that music is an art.

III. Lesson Proper:

Music is an Art
Art is the product of a human being’s creativity in using his/her talent and skills. All arts have something in
common; the aesthetic value present in them. Without this main characteristics, anything that has been
done cannot be considered an art.

Music is derived from the latin word musica which means “art of the muses.” How did music become the
muse among all arts? Simply because music can be easily appreciated by everybody it is a fact that some
arts require knowledge or background before their beauty is seen and felt. In music, as long as the ears
function normally, the chance of enjoying it is very much possible.

Music is an art because it corresponds to all the elements and qualities of an art.
