Lelo: Where have you been? Bobo I am talking to you

Bobo: I’m late for work, I came to change

Lelo: I sat the whole night waiting for you

Bobo: You shouldn’t have wasted your time I’m fine, I was out with
friends

Lelo: Which friends? I called all your friends thinking that maybe
something happened to you

Bobo: Stop whining woman. I am not a child, I am grown ass man

and I don’t have to answer to you. Where are my clean shirts? Don’t
tell me you didn’t do any washing over the weekend because I’ll be
very pissed. Instead of standing there and asking me stupid questions
be useful and pack my lunch.

Lelo: I’m late for work

Bobo: say that again… I dare you. You were a nobody when I found
you, I made you who you are today, I found you a job, you were just
a poor farm girl and now you have an audacity to question me
(grabbing her arm)

Lelo: Bobo you hurting me (crying)

Bobo: Come home straight after work and pack your bags you going
to Dlangezwa to visit my mother, you’ll be travelling to work from
there for this whole week, mom said I should bring you to wash her
curtains and blankets and do a spring cleaning December is around
the corner so everything needs to be clean before Christmas. At least
if you busy your stupid brain will stop thinking about my where
about.

Lelo: Babe I can’t, Dlangezwa is very far from town, festive is around
the corner so things are very hectic at work, our knock off time is
now 18hoo p.m. so I won’t get taxis back to Dlangezwa when its late,
I will go and clean for your mother over the weekend, please don’t
make me do this and besides your sister is at home, she’s
unemployed why should I be the one washing and cleaning.

Bobo: Orphans! They just pathetic people, you so ungrateful Lelo,

My sister is not a maid; it’s your duty to clean for your mother in law.
As for the transport after work, you are a grown woman you will
figure something out. I’ll be in Durban the whole week attending
some work training, I will live tomorrow morning, make sure my bag
is packed as well, I have to go bye..

Lelo: Training? What training

Bobo: Management things, you just a cleaner you won’t understand

{LELOTHANDO}

This is my story; I’m Lelothando Dhlomo, I’m 21 years old, I’m tall,
light in complexion. I was raised in Gingindlovu by both my mother
and father, my mother was coloured and my father was African
(black) so I took my mother’s complexion. I have one sibling my
brother his name is Vumokuhle. My parents both passed away in a
car accident when I was 16 years old. My mother was a police officer
and my father was a traffic cop. One day on their way back home
from work they were involved in a car accident, the car caught fire
and they both burnet to death. I am the oldest; my brother is 12
years old and his staying at the orphanage home because none of
our family members were willing to take us in after our parents died.
Currently I work at PicknPay at Empangeni as a cleaner; I reside with

my boyfriend whom I’ve been dating for years now. We started
dating right after my parents died; he came into my life when I had
absolutely nothing and had no one to turn too. We reside in his 4
room apartment at eskhawini. He works as a manager at
TRUWORTHS , he is the one who found a job for me at PicknPay. His
name is Bobo (Bongani) Molefe and his 30 years old; I’ve been
cohabiting with him for few years now. I love him very much and I
have never been with anybody else but him, his very possessive and
very controlling but then again I owe him my life and I really don’t
have much of a choice but to endure every pain. Bobo was a great
boyfriend at 1st but as time went by he started changing. His the one
who broke my virginity and he is the one who made me escape at
the orphanage home where I was also based. I sometimes wonder
how life would have turned out if I didn’t escape. Sometimes I find
myself thinking that maybe things would’ve turned out better if I
didn’t escape because the people at the orphanage home were really
good to me and even at school I was the smartest so every teacher
loved me.

EPISODE TWO

AT PicknPay (WORK)

Colleague: you don’t look owk, you look stressed is everything owk?

Lelo: Yeah I’m fine, don’t worry about it

Colleague: You know that you can always talk to me, Lelo you very
young to be living the life you living right now

Lelo: I’m fine really stop nagging

Colleague: owk

Lelo: Fine, Bobo didn’t sleep home last night, he said he was with his
friends but I know his lying he came home this morning to change
and he left after that, the worst part is that this week he said I should
go to KwaDlangezwa to clean for his mom.

Colleague: but he has a sister, don’t allow him to do this to you. Are
both of you guys going to be staying in Dlangezwa this week?

Lelo: No he said he has to attend something in Durban the whole

week

Colleague: Yoh!

Lelo: I think I’m going to be late tomorrow morning since I’ll be

sleeping at Dlangezwa so please cover for me.

Colleague: Yeah sure my friend, that is not a problem, but how are
you going to survive the whole week in that place without Bobo
being there, his mother is a monster.

Lelo: I don’t know but I have no choice, as for his mother I’m used to
her now so she doesn’t really bother me much, she is just a rude old
lady but she is harmless.

Colleague: Okay. If you say so

AFTER WORK (ESIKHAWINI) Time: 18h00p.m

Bobo: Hey sorry I’m late. Are you ready to go?

Lelo: Yes

Bobo: Did you also pack my bags I told you I’m also going away

Lelo: Yes I did. It on top of the dressing table

Bobo: Sharp. I’ll drop you off then I’ll be on my way to Durban owk,
don’t worry about calling me; I’m going to be very busy in Durban

the whole week. This is a very important training, phones are not
allowed. I will call you whenever I get a chance too. Please don’t
even try calling me because I’ll get in trouble.

Lelo: (Looking really annoyed and concern)

Bobo: What? Why are you looking at me like that? Relax I will never
cheat on you. You need to trust me. I’m yours alone stop worrying
yourself. You will never find a guy who will love you like I do, I made
you who you are, and you should cherish me. I’m the only family
member you have, you have nobody but me and that stupid, childish
brother of yours, so since we family you need to believe in me.
What’s that on your face?

Lelo: Make up

Bobo: Dammit are you crazy, you know how much I hate make up,
remove it. Make ups are for whores and it doesn’t suit you, you look
really ugly. I want a natural person. Yes you look like a coloured but
you not that pretty and a make-up is making you worse. Unless if you
using that shit to attract other man. I hope you not fucking cheating
on me. (Laughing) sorry babe I’m being silly no man will look at you.
I love you, you mine alone.

Lelo: Can we go please (Sad)

Bobo: Before we go come here (kissing and touching Lelo) you can’t
expect me to go without getting at least one round

Lelo and Bobo had sex even though Lelo was not in the mood
especially because she was sad but this is her 1st boyfriend and she’s
very young, she didn’t know any better, she has never experienced
real and true love in her life. After having sex with her boyfriend they
drove straight to Dlangezwa. When they arrived Bobo’s mother

wasn’t too pleased to see Lelo at the same time she didn’t care much
since she was just there to clean for her

Bobo’s Mother: my precious son unjani? I’m so happy to see you. Oh

my Goodness! Are you not eating, you looking really thin

Bobo: (smiling)

Lelo: Sawubona mama

Bobo’s Mother: Ya

Bobo: So mom I have to go, I can’t stay long, I have to be somewhere

I’ll see you Saturday.

Mother: owk bye son

BOBO EXITING THE ROOM…

Mother: Did my son tell you what you came here to do? This is not a
hotel. After work tomorrow I need you to start with the dining room
curtains but don’t worry I will help you I know you’ll be tired so we
going to do this together. Put your bags in Bobo’s bedroom you
know your way around this house. You look troubled is everything
owk

Lelo: Yes ma everything is fine

Mother: Good

Bobo: Hey sweetheart I was about to call you. I’m on my way to

fetch you

Girlfriend: On your way? Are you from work this late?

Bobo: No love I hired a maid for my mother, remember I told you my

mother was old and needed somebody to help her with cleaning etc..
So I found a maid for her and I had to go and drop her off.

Girlfriend: Ncoooh! That’s so sweet love

Bobo: I miss you so much; I can’t wait to spend this whole week with
you. I can’t wait for you to finally spend time with me in my house

Girlfriend: Hmmm I also can’t wait. I was getting worried thinking

that maybe you living with another woman.

Bobo: lol another woman? Nah I will never do that to you. I was still
renovating the house. I wanted you to feel at home in a nice place.
You deserve better and you pregnant with my heir so I want only the
best for you and my unborn child.

Girlfriend: I’m so lucky to have you in my life

Bobo: No sweetheart I’m the lucky one. Give me few minutes I’ll be
there to pick you up and take you to a nice restaurant. I want this
whole week to be perfect.

Girlfriend: I love you Bobo

EPISODE THREE

Bobo: welcome home babe

Enhle: honey its beautiful

Bobo: Only the best for my queen, so would you like something to
drink?

Bobo: Make yourself at home. Our bedroom is that side.

Enhle: Your house is so clean; I can’t believe how clean you are. You
one of a kind

Bobo: lol I’m not clean trust me. My maid cleans for me

Enhle: Babe why is the 2nd bedroom full of female clothes?

Bobo: Those are my sister’s clothes, she comes and goes. It’s so
annoying but I enjoy her company because I sometimes get lonely
living alone.

Enhle: Well our son will arrive soon and you won’t be alone any
more.

Days went by Lelo was stuck with Bobo’s mom and throughout the
whole week he didn’t bother to phone her and check-up on her, Bobo
was busy, his focus was on the girl he recently just met and
impregnated. Her name is Enhle Hlongwane from Ulundi. Enhle works
as a teacher at Empangeni high. As far as Enhle is concerned Bobo
doesn’t have a girlfriend and he lives alone. Love is in the air between
them they just started dating few months ago so they still in the
honeymoon phase. Enhle is 26 years old and this is also going to be
her 1st born child. So they both very excited about this. On the other
hand Lelo is slaving around doing everything from washing to
cleaning and having to go to work every day and also having
transport problems. She is starting to lack at work and her manager
is not happy with how she performs her duties anymore. Her
colleagues are trying by all means to cover for her they even ended
up cleaning some part of her section. The 21 year old is very stressed
and depression is starting to play its part. On Saturday afternoon
there was no sign of Bobo he didn’t even bother to come and fetch

Lelo. Bobo’s mother decided to phone him to discipline for not
coming to fetch Lelo but Bobo didn’t answer the phone. Lelo then
decided to take a taxi back to Eskhawini because even if she decides
to breakup with Bobo she has no other place to go to. She doesn’t
earn enough money to rent and also save money to spoil her brother.
They have a sibling tradition that every year on their parents’
birthdays they go out and celebrate and sometimes she has to make
sure that her brother has warm clothes and everything he needs.

Well Lelo finally got a taxi and she went to Eskhawini when she
arrived the front door was open and loud music was playing. Bobo’s
car was outside but the gate was locked. She screamed Bobo’s name
but still there was no answer. The neighbours were looking at her like
a crazy child. She decided to jump over the gate she went inside Bobo
was just sitting alone watching tv. The moment he laid his eyes on
her he was suddenly irritated.

Bobo: Hey. How the hell did you get in because the gate was locked?

Lelo: I called your name several times then I decided to jump

Bobo: OH

Lelo: I thought you said you were going to fetch me today, I waited
for hours then I decided to take a taxi

Bobo: It totally slipped my mind, I forgot

Lelo: You forgot wow! The house looks really clean. I didn’t know you
can clean this well.

Bobo: Hmm! (pressing his phone)

Lelo: How was Durban and the training?

Bobo: What Training?

Lelo: The one you said you were attending in Durban

Bobo: Oh. It was fine

Lelo: On Saturday its Vumo’s (brother) Birthday. I’m so excited I’ll be

throwing him a party at the orphanage home. You coming right? I’m
sure he will be happy to see like old times

Bobo: Babe do you mind? I’m trying to watch soccer and you
disturbing me with this pep talk, please move. And no I’m not coming
I am a manager for God sake what would people say if they saw me
at the Orphanage home, it will destroy my image. I have a standard
to maintain now.

As usual Bobo continued being an idiot and continued with his

tendencies of ill-treating his girlfriend, he ignored her and he was
busy on whatsapp chatting with Enhle no matter how hard Lelo tried
to get his attention but she failed dismally, the only thing he wanted
was sex when they were going to sleep after that he wasn’t really
bothered by the rest. In the morning as usual she woke up, made
breakfast for the both of them. Even though they both work at
Empangeni but These Days Lelo uses a public taxi and Bobo drives
alone in his VW Polo Vivo. Bobo doesn’t mind travelling with Lelo to
work he had no problem with it at all, they’ve been travelling
together for 2 years but nowadays Bobo has to fetch Enhle every
morning since she’s pregnant and drop her off to work 1st before
going to his work. So he came up with a lie to Lelo that every morning
he has to attend a meeting at Truworths in Richards bay before
driving to Empangeni so Lelo didn’t mind using public transport. Lelo
arrived at work started cleaning before the shop opens her mind
wasn’t at work she kept on thinking about her unhappy life and her
brother’s birthday party over the weekend, she invited her closest
colleague to come with her since Bobo refused. The shop opened and

the daily routine began people came in to shop etc. PicknPay was jam
packed especially because it’s festive.

One of the customers mistakenly dropped Mayonnaise on the floor

Lelo and the other cleaners were so pissed since it was Lelo’s section
she went and took a bucket of water, a mop and she went to clean.
She was very angry you could tell by her facial expression.

Customer: OHO umsebenzi wakho girl so ungakwati (it’s your job girl
so don’t be angry)

Lelo knows the rules that arguing with customer is not allowed and
besides her manager was looking at her direction so she was going to
get into trouble because of all the bad things that are happening in
her life she had a lot going on in her mind she forgot to put a caution
sign so that the customers wouldn’t walk where its wet she just
mopped and walked away the was no sign for the customers. Two
tall gentle man came walking pass where Lelo was mopping it was
still very wet but the two gentleman didn’t notice a thing. Lelo wasn’t
around to tell them she was at the bathroom putting the mop back.
Her manager noticed that the two gentleman we walking on the wet
floor the manager immediately left his chair and walked very fast to
tell the gentleman not to walk there Lelo also came out of the
bathroom and noticed the was no caution sign and also rushed
towards the two guys but it was a little too late for the both of them.
One of the guys badly fell on the ground, the guy who fell was tall
dark skin guy. He was wearing a navy suit. The manager recognise
the gentleman who fell on the floor it was somebody he knew and
the manager freaked out even more when he realised who the
gentleman was. Lelo froze and she didn’t know what’s to do all the
other employees looked at her some were even saying that Lelo has
changed she was never this careless and that lately she is making

many mistakes and it’s annoying. Lelo went next to the guy and tried
to help him get up and apologised. She knew that she will probably
lose her job so her eyes were teary

Lelo: I’m so sorry sir

Manager: You are so stupid, have you lost your damn mind consider
yourself unemployed (whispering at Lelo). Move and go to my office
immediately Lelo. Mr Njilo I’m so sorry sir I’m terribly sorry I’m
willing to take the blame and the store will do anything to fix this.

Mr Njilo: Its fine really. Accidents do happen.

Manager: Thank you sir

(Mr Njilo and His friend exiting the shop)

Manager: I am sick of you and your silly mistakes. You fired please
take all your things and go now. I will tell your boyfriend about this. If
it wasn’t for Bobo I would have never hired you. I don’t like hiring
small children like you because you guys are full of nonsense. Go

Lelo: Sir please, I need this job. It was a mistake, I have problems at
home so I’m very stressed I will try and do better. Without this job I
am nothing. I’m the only person my brother has so I need to help me
there and then. Please take half of my salary rather just please don’t
fire me. (Kneeling down and crying)

Manager: No Lelo it’s over stand up and exit the store. You can come
in as a customer but not as an employee. Please go now. Take all
your things and go

Lelo: I’ve been a loyal employee for years, I’m a hard worker with
just one mistake and this is how you treat me. Its fine I will go but
may God bless you

Manager: Whatever! May he bless you too. Go.
Lelo left the shop with tears rolling down. She was so confuse and
didn’t know where to go or what to do she has promised her brother
a birthday party but now that she is unemployed she is even more
stressed because she now has to save money to survive especially
because she has noticed that Bobo has changed drastically. She
walked out crying carrying her hand bag and walked towards the
rank and as she was busy walking she noticed the was a white BMW
3 series following her she turned around the car stopped a tall dark
skin guy walked out and came to her

Lelo: I thought I apologised for the incident that happened at the

shop what do you want from me now?

Gentleman: Hi. Are you crying?

Lelo: What do you want? Why are you following me?

Gentleman: No I saw you passing by from where our car was parked
so I thought I should come and tell you that i need somebody to cook
for me at home because I won’t be able to cook since my arm still
hurts a lot due to that incident and my ego is still very bruised

Lelo: What? (confuse) Listen I’m sorry it was an accident I didn’t

mean to and I just lost my job because of it so please let me go I have
a lot to think about and I’m not a very good cook.

Gentleman: You lost your job because of that? (Annoyed) No man

this is nonsense I will speak to your manager he can’t do that. I’m so
sorry. Let me fix this for you

Lelo: Why? You don’t even know me and I embarrassed you

Gentleman: Don’t worry about it. Like you said it was a mistake. My
name is Sbani Njilo, what is your name?

Sbani: Wow! That is a very nice and a unique name. So where are
you going I’m driving to Richards bay we can drop you off wherever
you going

Lelo: No I’m fine really. I’m headed to Eskhawini but I’ll use a taxi

Sbani: Are you sure?

Lelo: Yes I’m sure

Sbani: ill speak to your manager he can’t do this to you. It’s against
the law.

Lelo: I doubt he will listen to you so rather not.

Sbani: I’m sorry once again Lelothando… I think I have a crush on

your name lol

Lelo: (laughing) you silly.

EPISODE FOUR

Lelo arrived home and went straight to bed she didn’t even change
she went to bed wearing her cleaning uniform. On the other hand
the manager who dismissed Lelo had his own motives for firing Lelo,
the real reason beside Lelo lacking at work was because he wanted
to hire her friend’s sister for a huge amount of money in return. He
doesn’t really know Lelo’s background he thought maybe Lelo was
just one of those useless kids who run away from home to cohabit
with man and quit school, he doesn’t know that Lelo is living with
Bobo because she didn’t have anywhere else to go after she left the
orphanage home. The day went by until it was time for everybody to
go home, Bobo already knew about the incident that took place at
PicknPay and his furious.

AT ESKHAWINI

Bobo: wake up! Stan told me he fired you. Tell me he was joking
(shouting)

Lelo: I can explain it was a mistake. I was…

Bobo: shut up. You such an ungrateful bitch you were nobody when I
met you. I took you in and made you somebody and now you’ve
became a lazy and a stupid person who can’t even work. You will
never be somebody, a real person, somebody I can be proud of,
already I am embarrassed that I’m dating a cleaner and to make
things worst you can’t even clean. You mess everything up. I am sick
of you. So tell me now that you unemployed who’s going to take care
of you because if you think I have time to entertain your stupidity
you have another thing coming. You so useless we’ve been together
for years yet you can’t even give me a child. What can you do?

Lelo: (Teary eyes)…

Bobo: You know what I can’t stand you. What was thinking dating an
orphan obviously you have no respect and morals because you were
not raised properly.

Lelo: Don’t you dare speak to me in that manner; I didn’t choose to

be without parents. So please don’t you dare (crying)

Bobo: Or what? (Strangling Lelo, pushing her against the wall) are
you trying to scare me, so you able to back chat now heh? Try that
again and I will kill you. I can’t be in the same room with you so I’ll be
spending this entire week where I am more appreciated. You stay
here and think about what you’ve done.

Bobo exiting the room…

The whole week Lelo was living alone while Bobo was living in
Dunford height (flat) where Enhle is staying and giving Lelo the silent
treatment. Even though the whole thing was bordering Lelo but she
was still angry by the way Bobo spoke to her, she’s had enough and
she is also stressed about the upcoming weekend since she had
promised her brother a birthday party. So she decided to go and look
for a job, Lelo doesn’t have much experience she has only worked as
a cleaner even though she passed her matric with flying colours
obtaining 4 distinctions. But she has no work experience in anything.
She spent the whole week trying to forget about her previous job
and Bobo by going to every company and shops looking for a job but
unfortunately luck was not on her side. On Friday morning she again
woke up and went job hunting every place again turned her down,
others were saying there is no job, while others were rude to her
telling her to go away If there was a job they would’ve advertised it,
others were just looked at her like a mad person telling to go to
school she’s very young to be cleaning after people. Around 14h00
p.m. she was very exhausted and very hungry so she decided to just
go home with the little money she has left at home she decided that
she will explain to her brother and tell him the whole truth but she
will definitely use that last money to at least buy him a birthday cake.
After going to every store and people turning her down she sat at the
taxi rank and couldn’t hold her tears she just cried, she didn’t know
what else to do especially because the person whom she was
depending on turned against her. At the taxi rank the taxi arrived
since Lelo was wearing a skinny jean she decided to take the taxi fare
before getting inside the taxi because her jean is too tight so she
won’t be able to take the money out while sitting down. When she
was counting her money her money was short by 50cent, she asked

the taxi driver and told him she will pay when they arrive at
Eskhawini, she assured him that she has money at home she just
doesn’t know how she lost that 50cent because her jean is tight so
there was no way she could lose that money but he refused and
drove away. Lelo sat at the rank looking around for people she might
know so that they can give her that 50cent but she saw nobody it
was just strangers who had no energy for her. So she decided to just
sit aside while she was still thinking about what to do. As she was
sitting a white ford ranger double cab with a Mhlathuzi municipality
sticker drove past her in a huge speed on the main road opposite the
taxi rank but she didn’t pay much attention to it she had a lot in her
mind. Few seconds later the ford ranger quickly reversed and
stopped by the parking lot next to the rank, a tall dark gentle man
walked out.

Sbani: Hey I’m glad I saw you. I’ve been looking for you I even came
to Eskhawini the other day but I didn’t know which section you
staying at

Lelo: Why?

Sbani: No I wanted to tell you that I spoke to your manager and he

understood and promised to call you about your job.

Lelo: Oh! I told you not to bother yourself, I know Stan very well, he
will never call me and F.Y.I he didn’t call me

Sbani: (Angry) that man has an audacity to lie to me wow he really

doesn’t know me. I’m sorry owk, I will fix this

Lelo: Hey you don’t need to worry yourself about me

Sbani: You don’t look owk at all, I don’t mean to annoy you I know
we don’t know each other but I hate seeing people sad. I know losing
a job is a painful thing

Lelo: I have plenty of problems in my life. Bigger than losing my job,
I’m sure you have better places to be right now so don’t let me keep
you.

Sbani: Actually I’m on my way to Eskhawini. You at the rank so I

assume you waiting for a taxi, mind if I give you a life home.

Lelo: Aaah (hesitating) No! I’m fine I will wait right here

Sbani: Hey I won’t bite or kill you and I don’t do human trafficking.

Lelo: (laughing) fine

Sbani: Thank you it’s the least I can do. Let’s go

While driving away Lelo and Sbani were just having general
conversation talking about ordinary things. Sbani Njilo is 28 years of
age his from Empangeni and works for uMhlathuzi municipality. He
has recently been appointed as a town planning manager. Just like
Lelo he also doesn’t have children and his really down to earth
besides working for a municipality he also owns buildings in 3
different towns. He was raised by a single mother who is the mayor
of Empangeni. So he was brought up with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Sbani: So Lelothando are you originally from Empangeni?

Lelo: No I’m from Gingindlovu. You?

Sbani: Yeap Born and raised. So what type of a job are you now
looking for so that I can help you and give you posts when I see
them?

Lelo: Cleaning job

Sbani: Only?

Lelo: it’s the only thing I know how to do well

Sbani: A gorgeous girl like you I’m sure you can do anything you put
your mind into. (Looking straight into Lelo’s eyes)

Lelo: (Shy) Thank you. You can drop me off in the next street, thanks
for the lift

Sbani: Anytime, hopefully I will see you again and give you another
lift.

EPISODE FIVE

***LELO

I haven’t heard a male who speaks to me so gently in years, I have

even forgotten how it feels like to be appreciated by other people, I
haven’t met somebody so humble in my life, of course I couldn’t tell
him I was short by 5o cent for my taxi money I know right now things
are not going well in my life but I also have pride I can’t seem
desperate because desperation is what led me into this life in the 1 st
place. I wish Bobo can be as decent and friendly like Sbani but
unfortunately, I feel so happy for his girlfriend to be dating such a
handsome, educated and a guy with such a pleasant personality but
Aaag why am I thinking about a stranger when I have to prepare to
go see my brother tomorrow. Bobo hasn’t called me and it’s been a
weeks I don’t know where his sleeping and I can’t even deal with this
whole drama at the moment. I can’t wait for tomorrow, I spoke to
the lady at the orphanage about cancelling the party and she
understood and I was over the moon when she told me that my

I woke up very excited you could swear it was my birthday yet it’s my
brother’s birthday I got dressed up and on my way to the orphanage
home I went past the shops and bought a cake, drinks and 2 packet
of chips and I took a taxi to the orphanage home, when I arrived well
the place was jam packed expensive cars were parked outside it’s
like they having an event, I went inside the reception and the lady
told me that they have a Christmas charity event. Yoh I hate it when
political people think we just charity cases to show off to the world, if
they really wanted to give away they should’ve done it without
involving the media, they are cameras everywhere and political
people everywhere wearing their political t-shirt and there was a Dj
playing music and nice food prepared for the orphans. I didn’t want
to disturb my brother I’m sure his having an amazing time especially
because it’s his birthday so I just asked to see him for just few
minutes, I was so happy to see him I gave him his cake and spent just
30 minutes with him because he wanted to go and join his friend.
After spending some quality time with my brother I decided to walk
out using the back door because I didn’t want to disturb these
politicians. As I was walking towards the gate I thought I saw a real
familiar person, oh hell no it can’t be him my goodness not again, its
Sbani I wondered if his also into politics but anyways he works for
the municipality so most people there are politicians so it make
sense, let me quickly turn around before he sees me, I don’t want
him feeling guilty about the whole job issue and feeling sorry for me
it wasn’t his fault I should’ve been more careful and I’m very
uncomfortable around me his a high class person I’m just a nobody I
really hate making small talks with him because honestly I have
nothing to say I don’t have much going on in my life I’m just a poor,

Sbani: I spoke to the supervisor and she agreed but we have exactly 2
hours, your brother needs to be back in exactly 2hours, she wants
him back before the event even finishes.

Lelo and her brother Vumo as well as Sbani left and went to
McDonald, when they arrived Sbani went to order for the siblings
and paid after that he left and gave them time that he promised
them, it was the 1st time in Vumo’s entire life eating a burger and
being away from the orphanage home so for him this is really
amazing, Lelo avoided every question his brother had about Bobo,
after exactly 2 hours Sbani returned to pick Vumo up and to take him
back as promised. Sbani is a happy person his always smiling laughing
and acting crazy his the total opposite of Bobo whose always grumpy
and angry and also wanting to be praised by everyone. Sbani lives his
life to the fullest at the moment because his also still young he
doesn’t have a straight girlfriend his dating but not committed to any
girl. He has different girlfriends he always says he hasn’t found the
right person yet and his not looking, the right girl will come along the
way right now his enjoying his life by travelling, buying cars, clothes,

he loves fashion sometimes his mother worries because she thinks
he tends to over spend. They went back to the orphanage home Lelo
said her goodbyes to her brother and Sbani took Lelo back to
Eskhawini on their way they had an amazing conversation Sbani was
starting to realise things about Lelo that really took him by surprise,
he was amazed about how clued up Lelo was especially to things that
are related to physics and accounting.

Sbani: Do you drink or go to parties?

Lelo: I hate alcohol

Sbani: Really?

Lelo: Yes really, I don’t understand why people drink alcohol

especially woman

Sbani: Wow I’m really impressed every girl I meet normally drinks
wine or cider. On a serious note did you have a good time?

Lelo: I had an amazing time, thank you so much stranger lol

Why am I thinking about Lelo this much I mean the only reason I was
being nice to her was because I felt bad after she lost her job. But I
really am amazed at how smart she is. And to make things worst I
almost felt embarrassed when I realised that she’s smarter than me,
she knows a lot of things at 21 years she’s matured but I find myself
thinking about her and her smile, she loves laughing. I’m a crazy
person I know but I thought maybe I will irritate her but nah she
didn’t even seem to mind my craziness. The fact that she is
cohabiting with a man is getting to me and thinking about lives a bad

my perception but I think today is going to be a good day I should go

I woke up in the morning very anxious wondering what Sbani wants

to say to me, the most unfortunate moment this morning was
waking up next to Bobo, my mind was everywhere but here with this
man. I woke up made our breakfast and race straight to the
bathroom to bath, Bobo kept giving me a wondering eye. As I was
still busy in the shower I heard my phone ringing lucky for me Bobo
doesn’t really check my phone or even answer it. So it kept on
ringing but I couldn’t answer it since I was still bathing, when I
walked out I checked the missed call it was Sbani for some reason I
had better flies on my stomach. Sbani and I are not doing anything
wrong but I somehow felt guilty, like I was guilty of something, Bobo
was very busy on his phone he was paying no attention to me. But I
don’t think I need his rude attention anyways.

Bobo: Going somewhere?

Lelo: Yes to town

Bobo: for?

Lelo: Job hunting

Bobo: Oho! You are wasting your time. Where exactly are you

the restaurant before this was her 1st time, she also hated being
surrounded by the rich people of Richards bay, the whole thing was
just too weird for her, when she opened the Menu she didn’t know
anything in there. Sbani ordered a bottle of Moet for them while
they were still deciding on what they will be eating.

Lelo: Sbani I’m waiting

Sbani: for?

Lelo: Haibo! And why are you so weird today, you look like you
scared of something, you shivering.

Sbani: lol come on I’m not. Let’s enjoy our meal 1st then I will tell you

talking about other things, laughing and enjoying each other’s

happy. Happiness was written all over her face. When she came
inside the gate Bobo was not home yet. Lelo walked inside the house
and threw herself on top of the bed. She hasn’t felt this way in years,
her heart keep skipping the beat the only thing in her mind was
Sbani. Few minutes later Bobo walked in grumpy as usual, he walked

Bobo: how did the job hunting of become a maid go?

Bobo: Listen I’m going out with my friends so don’t wait up for me I

Bobo walked out very confused and worried he doesn’t understand

why Lelo is suddenly so calm and every time when he says things
that should be worrying Lelo she just relaxes and agrees with
everything it’s like she doesn’t care anymore. Bobo was feeling very
angry and not knowing how to react to this whole thing. Instead of
sitting down and talking to Lelo, Bobo decided that he will punish
Lelo for her attitude by not purchasing groceries for Lelo and starving
her and hoping that maybe Lelo will change and worship him, cry for
him and beg him again. But Lelo is in love with another man and
can’t control her feelings, she is failing to pretend, while Bobo went
to sleep with Enhle, Lelo took her phone and finally sent Sbani a
message

Lelo sending Sbani a text message: “I think I like you too and I’m
willing to give it a try, can we please take it slow and no rush”

Sbani responding: Thank you, you will not regret this, I will give you
all the time you need to sort out your life, I won’t rush things. Is it
too early for me to start calling you my luv? Lol

Sbani dropped the phone and started jumping up and down and
screaming making a lot of noise, he was very happy and decided to
go out and celebrate the wonderful news.

Episode eight

Lelo was suddenly in a very good mood after her new found love
with Sbani but her problem is how is she now going to deal with

life dating another man, she really has no idea what to expect from
this whole thing but one thing for sure is that she is deeply in love
with Sbani. Bobo returned home in the morning from his so called
party and found Lelo already awake, he was expecting Lelo to be in a
bad mood since he didn’t sleep at home but it was a total opposite
she was actually in the good mood. When Bobo opened the kitchen
door Lelo welcomed him with a smile

Lelo: Good morning, how was the party?

Bobo: it was good. Why you up so early and why are you in such a
good mood

Lelo: Ag I decided to wake up early and do some washing

the thought of Lelo having an affair is the last thing on his mind, he
really doesn’t think Lelo would do that to him, he thinks Lelo is very
terrified of him and in his mind he also thinks Lelo is stupid since she
has never been with another man. Lelo was still busy in the kitchen
she received a text message from her better half Sbani, she
immediately stopped making food for Bobo and focused on her
phone, she stepped outside the door she had a huge smile on her
face, her focus was on the phone and left the stove open

While Lelo was still busy on the phone texting with her new man the
breakfast eggs that she was preparing for Bobo were on the stove
burning. She was too focused on her phone and couldn’t even hear
the smell. Bobo immediately got up and went to the kitchen to check
what is happening because there is a smoke all over house but when
he arrived at the kitchen Lelo wasn’t there. He was so pissed and
removed the pan on the stove and switched it off. Few seconds later
Lelo realised that the eggs are burning and ran to the house when
she entered the house Bobo was standing by the door and he
grabbed her by her arm

Bobo: What is wrong with you? Are you stupid, are you trying to
burn this house?

Lelo: I’m sorry Bobo, I went to throw something outside and didn’t
realise the stove was still on

Normally Lelo is very bad when it comes to telling lies but lately it
seems like it’s the only thing she does when it comes to Bobo, while
they were still arguing about the burning eggs Bobo’s phone ranged
and it was Enhle who was calling, he took his phone and stepped
outside to answer it

Bobo: Enhle you know I get paid on the 30th and today it’s the 24th I

distress here with Lelo by spending time with her to distract him
from thinking about his now Bad relationship with soon to be his
babe mama. On the other hand Lelo is now the one who is in love
with Sbani. Lelo could tell that Bobo is stressed but she didn’t really
care much and didn’t think much about it

Bobo: Hey I’m about to watch a movie, I know you want to join me
and you love movies so come, make popcorn

Episode Nine

Sbani: you look beautiful…

Lelo: You don’t look too bad yourself, so where are we headed to?

Sbani: it’s a surprise

Lelo: I cannot wait

Lelo and Sbani drove to one of the expensive restaurants in Ballito

and again Lelo was amazed, Sbani was so excited to be with his new
girlfriend when they arrived he came out and went to open the door
for Lelo they walked out and they were holding hands which is
something Lelo has never done before hold hands with a man in
public. The difference between Bobo and Sbani is that Sbani is a
romantic guy and it comes natural to him. They both walked in and
had their meal while sitting down talking about everything, Lelo has
totally forgotten about Bobo her phone was on silent because she
really didn’t want to be disturbed, this is the 1st time Lelo is cheating
on Bobo and having another man therefore she is crazy in love and
not really thinking straight. She is so focused on Sbani it as if Bobo
doesn’t exist anymore. Bobo tried calling her over and over again but
there was no answer. Instead of getting worried and thinking maybe
something happened to his girlfriend he was pissed and annoyed that
Lelo is not picking up her phone, he was sitting alone bored at home
and worst he can’t even go to Enhle because they not really in the
same page with things.

As Lelo was busy telling Sbani about her dreams, Sbani couldn’t take
his eyes of her, he was really amazed about Lelo at the same time he
was very sad that her dreams were crashed just like that. This is the
1st time Lelo is telling a person about her future dreams, she tried

Lelo: Yeah so that was my dream but Bobo said they won’t come true
varsity is a place for rich kids. Oh sorry I didn’t mean to mention his

girlfriend? We really need to talk about this thing about your
boyfriend, do you love him?

Lelo: Right now you are the only thing that makes sense in my life

The couple went to a spa for pampering and again this was very new
for Lelo it was like she was having a dream the time was 16h00 in the
afternoon and Lelo left Eskhawini around 9h00 claiming she was
going for interview, Bobo was in the house Fuming because he
knows interviews don’t take this long and worst of all Lelo isn’t
answering her phone on the other hand Lelo is having so much fun
and madly in love the thought of Bobo is not even crossing her mind.
They went for their spa treatment at Hilton hotel and later on they
went for a walk at the beach holding hands, kissing and they drove
back to Empangeni when they arrived the time was 20hoo at night.
Still Lelo was not panicking she was still amazed by the wonderful
day she had. They arrived at eskhawini and Lelo was about to get out
of the car Sbani grabbed her by her arm gently and kissed her again.

Sbani: I will wait in the car until I see you entering the house, send
me a text message if everything is owk and if that man is giving you

about you studying next year because it’s already late for

Lelo came out of the car and walked to Bobo’s house when she
arrived all doors were locked, Bobo was under impression that Lelo
would probably cry or sleep outside because he thinks she will have
nowhere else to go so his trying to punish her for coming home very
late. While she was knocking Bobo was just sitting at the lounge
ignoring her but instead of Lelo knocking over and over as Bobo was
expecting she just knocked twice and turned around walking towards
the gate. Bobo heard the footsteps walking away he opened the door
and Lelo walked inside the house, Sbani was still waiting for Lelo’s
text message before he can go.

Bobo: Wena sfebe where have you been? I called everybody you
know and they said they haven’t seen you, I tried calling Kfc but
there was no answer. So I will ask you one more time, ubukuphi?

Lelo: I went to the orphanage home to visit my brother when I

finished with my interview

door and went outside and closed the door so that Lelo won’t hear a

didn’t stop calling he was getting worried that maybe something has
happened to Lelo, Sbani kept phoning until Lelo finally answered her
phone

Episode Ten

Sbani: Hey, I’m home already, I just arrived

Lelo: Oh owk

Sbani: What’s wrong? You don’t sound owk

Lelo was woken up by the loud sound of laughter and noise; Bobo
and Enhle were in the kitchen talking so loud making food and having
fun. They were busy debating about the names of their baby. At the
same time they were both getting ready to go to town. Bobo was
going to work but he had to drop off Enhle to see the doctor.

their way to Town and decided to stop and pour petrol while they
were busy pouring petrol they saw a BMW stopping next to Bobo’s
Polo vivo, a tall dark skin man wearing a grey t shirt and a jean came
out to also pour petrol to his car. This man was on the phone talking
to his girlfriend but Bobo and Enhle were able to hear everything he
was saying because he was standing next to them. Bobo was so
amazed to be standing next to Sbani and as for Enhle she was just
charmed by his looks and amazing smell. Bobo was just not aware
that the girlfriend that Sbani is talking to was actually Lelo.

Sbani: Baby I’m at Eskhawini already pouring petrol I’ll be there in

less than 5 minutes.

Bobo: Enhle look, do you know this guy?

Enhle: Of course I do, who doesn’t know Sbani Njilo, the mayor’s son

Normally I’m not a rude person but there is something about this guy
that is rubbing me off the wrong way. Calling himself my fan what
kind of a guy suck up to another man like this; I like strong man not
groupies. Some guys are just pathetic. I can’t wait to see my woman
and find out what’s wrong with her. I have to say I didn’t think
sharing Lelo with her boyfriend would be a problem because I didn’t
want to make her choose between me and him but the whole thing
is getting to me, I just want her all to myself the thought of her

dating Bobo, how he made her run away from the orphanage home
at the age of 18 and how he impregnated another girl and called her

if I work for them like cleaning their rooms for free in return for a
place to stay maybe they might consider letting me stay and they

you. You can stay in one of my flats in Richards bay ill support you.
Don’t worry we won’t be sharing I’ll be staying in my house and
you’ll be living alone there you will have a peace of mind and be able

Sbani and Lelo finally left Eskhawini and went to Zini Estate where
Sbani lives. When the car drove in Lelo opened her eyes wide open,
she was in shock and amazed by this beautiful estate, the whole
neighbourhood is beautiful, it’s the place for only rich people, and
Sbani parked his car in front of his house in his drive way his
Mercedes and Bmw X5 was parked there as well. Sbani and Lelo
walked in, the house is so amazingly beautiful. When they entered
the house there was a lady inside who helps Sbani with the washing
and cleaning. Sbani introduced Lelo and future Mrs Njilo; they went
upstairs to put Lelo’s things in Sbani’s bedroom. Lelo was still
astonished because the only house she’s been to is Bobo’s 4 room
house.

and my brother and I think I can make a great advocate

Sbani: Hmm! Advocate Njilo. I love the sound of that. Today is about
us enjoying ourselves and we can go tomorrow to see the flats… Deal

Sbani went upstairs to change; he came back wearing a black short

and no t-shirt on top. They spent the rest of the day playing, Lelo
cooked for Sbani and later they went to watch TV cuddling on the

Episode Eleven

In the morning Sbani and Lelo woke up and went to Lelo’s flat. The
idea was that Lelo will choose which flat she likes but Sbani wanted
to surprise her so he made a choice for her and when they arrived in
Richardsbay Sbani just drove straight to a specific flat that he had
picked for Lelo. It’s opposite the Meer en see beach in Richards bay.
The flat is fully furnished and the grocery has already been
purchased, the fridge is jam packed everything is in there including
the washing machine etc. the whole apartment is exquisite and looks
very expensive especially for a student like Lelo. She was perplexed
and she was hesitant in staying in this apartment because she has

never seen something like this. She also felt like it was too much.
Well they went inside

Sbani: Do you like it?

Lelo: I love it but are you sure I can stay here?

Sbani: Yes I’m sure. Stop worrying, you better start getting used to all
of this because you are in this for a long haul.

Lelo: Oh wow this place is beautiful, the beach is across the bedroom
window, I will wake up every morning and go for a jog

Sbani: This is your new home; lot of memories will be created here.
Well it’s a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, balcony, a
bar but a bar is for me since you don’t drink alcohol, a lounge,
kitchen it’s close to a beach and there is a swimming pool for tenants
as well, so when your brother visits you his going to love it here.

Lelo moved into her new apartment and settled in she was still in
disbelief. Weeks went by and she and Sbani were getting it on and
getting to know each other better and enjoying their time together
as a couple

4 WEEKS LATER

Lelo woke up very early and used her Uber app on her new iPhone
that Sbani bought for her and she went to university of Zululand. Lelo
was panicking because she didn’t apply so she wasn’t sure if a self-
application will do her any justice. Sbani has a back to back meetings
so he couldn’t come with her and Lelo wanted to do this on her own

without Sbani holding her hand she wants to learn to be
independent and to grow up. So she got dressed in her diesel blue
skinny Jean and her guess white t-shirt with a Puma shoes and had
her expensive hand bag with her weave on point and her nerdy sun
glasses and took a Uber from Richardsbay to Dlangezwa where
University of Zululand is situated. The moment the Uber drove in
Kwa Dlangezwa lot of bad memories strike Lelo she was reminded of
all the times she had to come and slave for Bobo’s mother here and
all the bad names and ill treatments they used to give her and the
long distance she had to walk every day to catch a taxi to go to work.
All these wounds were still fresh to her but she put on the brave face
and focused on what she came here to do. The Uber dropped her by
the gate and she went to the admin offices where there was a long
queue of new applicants who were also looking for a space in the
university. Lelo was suddenly very afraid and thought that her
dreams of studying will be shutted because there was no way she
will get a space here. But she thought of her hardship and the real
reason she is doing all of this which is for a better life and also for her
brother. In the back of her mind she still has this idea that Sbani will
someday change like Bobo did when he so she is still very afraid and
wants to study so when that day comes she will have something to
fall back on.

She waited on the queue for 3 hours until it was her turn and she
was shown into the faculty of Law and commerce. She went inside
with her matric certificate there was a faculty Professor inside the
room and other admin people who were assisting with the
applications. When Lelo was approaching the desk the Law professor
went outside for a smoke so Lelo had to be assisted by a young Lady
who was only employed for a short period of the application and

registration. This lady had an attitude problem and she wasn’t really
nice towards Lelo.

Lady: Yes coloured girl I see you passed with “As”. You smart people
think you have everything in a palm of your hands why didn’t you
apply when the was still time, you think because you got good grades
we will just let you in and why do you want to do Law when you have
physics and Accounting etc. shouldn’t you be applying for
engineering or something? You wasting my time, Law is full already
go and look for a space in an Engineering faculty... NEXT!

Lelo was short of words tears were in her eyes but she didn’t want to
cry in front of that lady so she just stood up and went away. While
she was crying she dumped into the Law professor by mistake
because she wasn’t looking where she was going. Her matric
certificate fell and the professor picked it up for her.

Professor: Such a beautiful young lady, why are you crying?

Lelo: It’s nothing sir sorry for not looking where I was going

Professor: What is the problem, during this time of the year we used
to seeing young people crying, so I try by all means to help you guys
achieve your dreams. Is this your certificate wow you know ive seen
more than 400 students today and I have to say you have the highest
points so far. Even I didn’t pass this well in my matric.

Lelo: Thank you

Professor: So which cause do you want to study?

Lelo: Law but its full already

Professor: It is full my dear we had so many applications this year for

law but with these type of result anything Is possible I can make a

feels like a dream if only mommy and daddy were still here to
witness all of this. That lady was really rude to me but I should’ve

around two black jeep were parked behind her she stood up and she
was shaking and puzzled body guards came out of the 1st jeep
carrying guns and wearing black suits, they were tall and masculine.
They didn’t even look at her they just went to the 2nd car and opened

of Umhlathuze (Mayor Njilo). Lelo almost peered on her pants. She
didn’t know what to do so she froze. She was scared to see Sbani’s
mother worst in her son’s home to make matters worse he is not
even there to rescue her. The mayor just walked straight to Lelo and
stood in front of her with bodyguards next to her, the mayor is very
scary she isn’t somebody you just look in the eye. She looks exactly
like Sbani but she is the scary version of Sbani and Lelo is more
terrified of her especially because she is the mayor

Oh shit Lelo is also in my house. Mom is a very busy woman and very
impatient so when she send a message she expect a person to jump

to deal with mama and her demands, apart from being a mayor my

The mayor: Law? I also studied law and further did Political science.
But you can apply for a bursary in our municipality

Lelo: I received one and got accepted for Law at university of

The mayor: I noticed you were smart the moment I arrived when I
saw a newspaper on the couch, I noticed that instead of reading
about Fashion, you were reading about politics, I like you already,
only few girls are like you. In this house I always find skanks and
floozies and I always chase them away, I’m glad my son has finally
got himself a decent girl.

The mayor was blown away by Lelo and the way she present herself,
she has never met a young girl like Lelo before, she was taken away
by her knowledge about things and how clever she is and the level of

carries herself. They sat together discussing life and other things. The

to rescue Lelo but both Lelo and The mayor were confused seeing

Bobo and Enhle were also still going strong waiting impatient for
their baby but Things in Bobo’s house are no longer the same after
Lelo left as Proud as Bobo is but he also has noticed the gape that
Lelo left in his life, he no longer return home to a clean house like
before. He also has a job to cook every day after work because Enhle
hate cooking especially now that she is 9 months pregnant. She sits
and does nothing. Enhle is naturally a lazy girl; she is so lazy and
filthy to an extent that she doesn’t even take out water after
bathing. Bobo is fed up with Enhle and her tendencies. Even though
he won’t admit it he really wishes Lelo was still around. While they
were still sitting and eating the food that Bobo had cooked for both
of them Enhle received a text message so she got up and went next
to her phone because it was on the charger by the door

and a pathetic liar but I didn’t know you were this rotten, I want my

Enhle: Ouch! Bobo!

Enhle: My water just broke and it’s so painful take me to the hospital

Bobo took Enhle to the hospital and waited outside for hours while
the doctors were still busy with her, it took exactly 4 hours for Enhle
to final give birth. The nurse went outside to call Bobo and share the
good news with him. Bobo went inside the ward and saw Enhle
carrying a baby he went closer and held the baby in his arms there
was so much joy in his face, he was so excited he even shared a tear.
He was still in disbelief that he was holding his 1st born daughter. He
kept on looking at the baby and named the child Siphosami (my gift)
he was so happy he called his mother and every member of his
family because he wanted to share the good news with them. Bobo
is dark skin in complexion as well as Enhle but the baby was so light
in complexion even the nurse was a bit puzzled but she didn’t say
anything. Bobo was so happy to have a child he failed to even notice
that the baby looks so different from both the parents. Bobo’s
mother decided to take a taxi and go to eskhawini at Bobo’s house to
wait for Bobo and Enhle, to assist Enhle since she is a 1st time
mother. She will be staying with them for the whole month. As Bobo
was still holding the baby Enhle wanted something to eat.

When Enhle 1st met Mondi it was when she started teaching grade
12. Mondi is a famous rugby player student; his tall, muscular and
very handsome most girls at school have a crush on him. His thing
with Lelo started as a joke when he was just playing and flirting with
her during their Accounting period. Enhle is the youngest teacher at
school she is only 26 years and she is short and portable. Mondi on
the other hand is 17 turning 18 years old. One day the school had a
trip and Enhle was chosen as one of the teachers who will
accompany the students that when they started sleeping together.
At 1st it was awkward until they kept doing it and it became normal
to both of them. Enhle couldn’t resist Mondi whenever she sees him
she was just turned on but because Mondi is a student they had to
stop.

Bobo: Hey I’m back, who’s that boy that just come out of this ward

Enhle: What boy?

Bobo: The tall light skin school boy wearing an Empangeni high grade

Enhle: oh I don’t know he said he was looking for one of the nurses,
baby I was thinking how about we make the name Kuhlekonke a 1st
name and yours the 2nd name.

Bobo: Kuhlekonke. I like it but can I ask why the sudden change?

Enhle: it’s nothing I just kept looking at our child and I thought this
name will suit her. I just spoke to the doctor he will discharge me
tomorrow.

The next day Enhle was indeed discharged and Bobo fetched her,
they went to eskhawini. When they arrived home Bobo’s mother was
very excited she couldn’t wait to meet the baby and hold the baby in

bedroom to lie down. Bobo’s mother held the baby and stood for
good 10 minutes staring at the child.

Mother: No nothing son. (Concerned look)

EPISODE FOURTEEN

Three years later

Three years later Bobo and Enhle were hitting rock bottom, love was
never the same between them but the baby was growing healthy
and Bobo was taking good care of her. As the baby kept growing
more concerns were rising on Bobo’s mother and other family
members they were even more concerned when they saw how also
dark skinned Enhle’s parents were. Bobo’s mother was even having
troubles sleeping whenever she thinks of her grandchild. At 1st
Bobo’s mother was very excited that her son is dating a teacher
somebody who is educated and comes from a well off family but
after the baby was born she wasn’t very sure of Enhle anymore. But
she was too scared to tell Bobo about her concerns. Mondi passed
his matric and got a job as an admin clerk at Eskom he also enrolled
at an FET college part time doing electrical engineering, he wants his
child so bad he is thinking of seeking legal assistance especially
because Enhle is refusing to give him his child. Enhle is under
pressure therefore she wants Bobo to marry her so when the news
of the baby breakout they will be already married and she thinks
Bobo will have no choice but to forgive her. Enhle has tried
everything in her power to fall pregnant again but this time for Bobo
but it’s not happening, she has stopped using contraceptives but she
just doesn’t fall pregnant. She even tried using traditional herbs but

still no luck so all of this is causing serious tension between her and
Bobo. Bobo feels as though Enhle is trying to control him.

Oh varsity is so draining and worst part next year we doing practicals.

I’m glad I decided to do law after all it is my passion. I want to focus
more on the politics side of law. It seems more interesting I don’t
know whether it’s because I’m surrounded by politicians or what but
politics seem to be the only thing I understand better since I met
Sbani and the mayor. Life has been so great and hectic at the same
time but I’m glad things are going accordingly. My biggest fear now is
my brother his growing so fast I can’t even keep up his now in high
school his so tall and gets along well with the mayor she calls him her
side kick. She says he will be the new Julius Malema because he is so
talkative and stands for what he believes in. Sbani and I are planning
our getaway trip to the Maldives in Asia so I can’t wait I need to
refresh before my final year next year. Sbani loves travelling in just
few years that we’ve met ive been almost everywhere from Cape
Town to Sun City etc. Even though his very busy lately with the mall
that the municipality is building but he makes time for me. His
always in my flat his hardly at his place, we spend so much time
together his like my twin now. The mayor fears that if we keep on
living like this I will end up pregnant and ruin my chances of
becoming a lawyer.

Lelo: Hey

Sbani: Baby I’m so hungry

Sbani: Yeah but trust me there are no traffic police today (Laughing)
I swear. I have a meeting in the next 30 minutes with the Retail store
managers for the mall we opening soon. So please hurry my love

As Sbani was still busy preparing for his meeting with all the retail
store managers and waiting for Lelo with his food his PA came and
told him that two of the managers have already arrived.

PA: Sir two managers have arrived. It’s the Markham manager and
the pick n pay manager. Should I let me them in

Sbani: Agg so early I’m still waiting for my girlfriend and I’m still
preparing my presentation but then yeah its fine let them in.

The two gentlemen walked into Sbani’s big office at the door its
written Town planning Manager, they both admire Sbani. For Sbani

years ago at the petrol garage. I’m also a manager at Markham. I
can’t wait to finally see the mall inside before we start renting a
space there

Sbani: Yeah sure. You going to love it trust me and the rent is
reasonable but you will hear about it during the presentation

Pick n pay manager: Mr Njilo (shaking hands) the last time I saw you
was few years ago during that incident with the wet floor in our store

have a special person in my life right now and she complete me so
I’m just waiting for her to sort her life out then I’ll ask for her hand in

Pick n Pay manager: Take it from me ive been married for 7 years.
Marriage is a beautiful thing if you do it with a right person out of
love and no other reasons.

Bobo: Ag I don’t find it useful, it’s a waste of money. If I do it I’ll be

doing it for the sake of my daughter because she matters more.

Everybody was laughing and Bobo realised that Sbani is actually a

young boy and a happy soul so Bobo and the other pick n pay
manager were starting to relax and loosen up around him, they were
also joined by the Engineering manager Sbani’s colleague who will
also be attending the meeting so they were all just having a boy talk,
the engineering manager is very fond of Lelo he thinks she is the best
thing that has ever happen to Sbani. As they were still waiting for
other people to arrive there was a knock on the door.

Lelothando walked in wearing her Gucci jean and Louis Vuitton shoes
and a simple t-shirt, with her Malaysian weave, she looked so
amazing and she had an amazing smell, you can smell her from a
distance. The P.A. kept looking at her, she always say Lelothando is
the best dressed person she has ever came across, she admire her
sense of style. Sbani also always say that Lelo has a very good eye for
fashion she always looks amazing even in her night dresses she is
stunning. When Lelo walked in the pick n pay manager almost wet
his pants when he saw her. He just couldn’t believe it. Him and Bobo
have been friends for years so he hired Lelo at Pick n Pay simply
because Bobo asked him to so what’s puzzling him the most is
because on their way to the municipality him and Bobo were actually
talking about Lelo wondering where she went because they haven’t
seen her in years and Bobo said to him that Lelo is at the orphanage
home or a maid somewhere. So he was shocked to see her looking

meeting Bobo heard nothing, he was miles away, deep down he was
in so much pain even Mr Sbanda the pick n pay manager noticed that
Bobo was not owk. He kept drinking water and sweating he even
asked to be excused and went outside for a fresh air. He stood
outside thinking and drinking lot of water after few minutes Bobo fell
down on the ground and he fainted the other municipal employees
saw him fainting and rushed him to the nearest hospital. Mr Sbanda
the pick n pay manager phoned Enhle and informed her that Bobo
has been admitted to hospital in Richards bay.

EPISODE FIFTEEN

Doctor: Miss Enhle your boyfriend just suffered from a very high
blood pressure, his awake now but I will need to keep him for a night
to run more tests.

Enhle: A high blood pressure? (Puzzled) what do you think triggered

this thing?

Doctor: In his case I suspect stress but generally blood pressure is

caused by many different things.

Few days later

Bobo was finally discharged from hospital and went home where
Enhle was waiting for him. When he arrived home she welcomed him
very nicely. After few minutes he received a phone call from Mr
Sibanda who was very excited about the email he received from
umhlathuze municipality that pick n pay shop has a space in the new
mall. Mr Sibanda was very excited especially because the mall is
situated at the central where every person can reach so this means
more customers for Pick n pay. The moment Bobo heard the news he
couldn’t even sit still he wanted to go immediately to his office to
check his emails. He knows that his ass is on the line if he doesn’t get
it but his not too worried since he knows Truworths has a good
reputation and imagine a mall without Truworths so he has no doubt
that he will get that contract.

Well although I feel a bit impatient and I want to know if we got that
contract so that I can start planning ahead and make arrangements
to show everybody that I’m the man who is able to make things
happen. Going to that meeting with Njilo was just formality our store
is one of the best in the country. I couldn’t finish the meeting to add
few points on that presentation Sbani Njilo was presenting because I
fainted but on a serious note what does Sbani see in Lelo. Dammit
how could she do this to me well I’m not that worried because he is
playing her and I broke her virginity, I had her 1st, well even if he
really likes her I doubt the mayor would approve the whole mayor
with a daughter in law who is nobody like Lelo. I don’t believe that
law story even if she is studying law I don’t know how because I
didn’t even know she had matric but I don’t think she will complete
her qualification because she is unreliable and she doesn’t finish
anything she always messes everything up, she will fail. I made her

The Boss: This is better than losing your job, I remember when you
started working here you were a good human being, ever since you

Bobo walked out of the conference room looking down, everything to

him felt like a dream he was just confused not knowing what to do.

Lelo was busy preparing to go back to school for her final year and

romantic candles everywhere. Everything was beautiful inside but

busy sipping her wine she noticed there was a shiny thing inside her

drink while she was about to finish she again saw a shiny thing but
this time it was clear. As she was busy focusing trying to see what
was it. Sbani went down on his knees Lelo noticed it was a diamond
ring she looked up wanting to show Sbani she saw Sbani on his knees
in front of her, she turned around she saw all the waiters and a chef
smiling looking at her. She was so overwhelmed and emotional
didn’t know how to react in that very same moment J something
from Micasa appeared singing a romantic song

They sat on the table enjoying their meal while J something sings
next to them, Sbani was finally relieved because in a back of his mind
he didn’t think Lelo would agree to marry him he thought maybe she
would say she is not ready. Sbani has already told his mother about
this and she is very excited that her only child is getting married but
the advice she gave him was that he needs to wait the whole of next
year for Lelo to finish her qualification and before they make babies
etc.

Lelo: Is this why you were acting weird lately

Sbani: I didn’t think you will want to marry me

Lelo: so where are the people today?

having dinner with my son and his fiancé

is getting married that is very lovely mayor, you must be excited soon

Mayor: Yes I’m very excited; it’s every parents dream to witness
their children getting married. Are you married?

If only Lelo can hear that Sbani is getting married and his stringing
her along and making her a fool. Shame poor girl she thought her life

graduating for her LLB law degree. They drove to University of
Zululand when they arrived they all went inside the Bhekuzulu hall
and the ceremony began. It was so beautiful, there were so many
graduates and finally it was the law faculty’s turn to receive their
qualifications. The names were called one by one and when it was
time for Lelo’s name to be called all the professors stood up and Lelo
was the biggest achiever of the day. “Lelothando Mbau degree
obtained with cum laude (distinction)” every single person who was
inside the hall stood up and gave her the biggest round of applause,
Sbani was just speechless and out of words he just couldn’t believe it,
the mayor couldn’t stop ululating. Lelo went on the stage to receive
her degree after the ceremony was finalised most companies offered
Lelo a job but she was keen in opening her own Law firm because she
felt like most of these companies don’t really have the same vision as
her so she wanted to do this on her own so she had no choice but to
turn them all down. She was not really worried about being rich but
she wanted to take things slowly and she will use one of her fiancé’s
buildings and turn it into her office. Well after graduation they drove
to the mayor’s house and had a little celebration party for Lelo and of
course they invited the ladies who work at the orphanage home
where Lelo was staying after her parents passed away. They were
very proud of Lelo and told Lelo that she is a perfect example to other

Enhle: (DROPPING THE CALL) (COUGHING)

Enhle was furious and jealous of Mondi and his success, she is still
dating the doggy Tenderprenuer and lately Enhle has lost so much
weight and she is very ill she has been refusing to see the doctor and
she is getting worse. She hasn’t been fully responsible for her baby,
Bobo was doing everything and she doesn’t really visit the baby more
often. Enhle has totally changed even her colleagues are noticing the

change she drinks and party a lot and she is also suspended by the
department of education for drinking in school and for her disgusting
behaviour of sleeping with grade 12 boys during school trips. Mondi
went back to Lelo his attorney to inform her that the baby is no
longer staying with her mother she is living with her so called father
Lelo assured him not to worry about all that Enhle has to come to
court or a warrant of arrest will be issued. The child will be fetched
by SAPS in that man’s house after Mondi has won the case.

The next following week Enhle went to court since she was
subpoenaed when Lelo entered the court room she couldn’t believe
her eyes when she saw Enhle, she was so shocked and couldn’t even
pay attention during the case wondering how could Bobo be so
stupid and be played by a girl this much she somehow felt a bit sorry
for him because she is aware that Bobo loves children and as for
Enhle sleeping with a school boy under Bobo’s nose was shocking for
Lelo to handle.

Enhle: Lelothando!!!

Lelo: Hi

Enhle: Mondi is this a joke?

Mondi: Does it look like we playing this is the court of law the
magistrate will be here now. Where is your lawyer?

Lawyer: Mrs Njilo pleasure to see you again

Lelo: Good morning Gert are you ready?

The magistrate entered the court room and the case began Gert who
was representing Enhle tried by all means to defend her and to make
sure that they at least get 50/50 so that Enhle can also get a chance
to be part of her baby’s life but Lelo’s case was stronger she
explained Enhle’s life style to the magistrate how she is always out
parting with old man all weekend long, how she slept with the school
boy and that Mondi was actually Enhle’s student when she fell
pregnant, she explained to the magistrate that Enhle hasn’t seen her

child in 4 months and the baby is living with her ex-boyfriend, the
magistrate heard both sides and in the end granted Mondi the full
custody of the baby. Mondi was over the moon and excited. Enhle
was left crying and calling her lawyer a useless and a pathetic lawyer.
The magistrate ordered the clerk of court to draft a letter for the
SAPS to accompany Mondi to fetch his child. When they arrived Bobo
was sitting outside with the baby and Bobo’s mother playing

Mondi: I’m here to fetch my child

Bobo: What? What child

Mondi: That is my baby. Enhle fooled you, she lied to you and made
you believe that this was your child, I’m sure you remember me we
saw each other at the hospital when Enhle was giving birth, that
baby is mine call her and she will tell you the truth. We were both in
court today and I won full custody of my daughter I want her back
Bobo

Bobo: (teary eyes) fuck you that is my child get the hell out here

SAPS: Sir please don’t make this harder for us

Bobo: Listen Mondi Call your lawyer I don’t believe Enhle. I raise my

CALLING LELO…

Lelo: Mr Mondi hello

Bobo: It’s actually me Bobo

Lelo: Aag What do you want?

Bobo: So is it true about my daughter?

Lelo: Hand over the baby to the police and the father Bobo before
you get charged with kidnapping. She is not yours. Do the blood test

Bobo insisted that they do the blood test because it was very hard for
him to believe and he was very heartbroken he cried every day. Bobo
was very stressed he has lost weight because of stress. They did the
blood test and the result came and indeed they proved that Mondi is
really the father of the baby but Mondi gave Bobo a moment to say
good bye to the 3 year old baby girl privately.

Bobo: Baby daddy loves you so much owk, you the only thing I was
living for. I love you with all my heart and I will always love you.
(Crying) I guess I’m paying for my sins, I can’t believe today I’m losing
an Angel and that is you, I wish you all the best in your future and I
know you will do well, I will forever be your daddy and you will

Mondi: I’m so sorry man. Bobo this is not the final goodbye

Enhle got evicted by the landlord because all the cheques that her
blesser was giving her were bouncing and the landlord wanted his
money she couldn’t afford to pay a rent of over 4 months and she
was suspended from the department of education without pay so
she had no money. She left and went to stay with her friend until she
figures out what to do. The Tenderprenuer was starting to ignore her
calls and he wanted nothing to do with her, he changed his phone

worst with sickness and her friend decided to take her to the clinic
she went inside the cubical with the nurse. In that doctor cubical
there is a huge widow facing by the parking. The nurse came in and
examined Enhle in the end she did a blood test

Nurse: My baby you HIV positive

Enhle: Oh no! (Crying)

Nurse: your cd4 count is very low you need to start with the
treatment immediately or else you will die. There is no need to be
afraid my baby everything will be fine. HIV is no longer scary
nowadays as long as you stick to your medication you will live longer.

Enhle: Oh God

Nurse: Don’t worry my child. Agg I hate that man (looking at the

Days went by and instead of Enhle getting better she got worst
because she couldn’t focus on her health she was so stressed
realising that she broke Bobo’s heart only to be played by an old,
uneducated widower who was busy spending his wife’s inheritance
and lying about the tenders, she was starting to miss the life she had
with Bobo and she missed her daughter the most, she kept
wondering how her daughter was doing and also wondering how
Bobo was. She hated herself for being so cheap and she felt
disgusted for sleeping with that man. The thought of being HIV
positive broke her heart the most therefore she got sicker every day.
Her friend decided to take Enhle home to her parents when they
arrived home her parents cried seeing their child in that state and
asked her where the baby is she told them the whole truth but she
was very sick and couldn’t speak properly

After few weeks when her mother woke up and went to give her a
breakfast as usual she entered the bedroom Enhle was in her bed her
eyes were white and wide opened she immediately knew that her
daughter was gone, Enhle passed away, her mother cried so loud
seeing her daughter dead in her bed. Enhle’s siblings and her father
went running and they all saw that Enhle is no more, her family was
so heartbroken but in her funeral Mondi made sure that she brought
the baby to bury her mother. Bobo heard the news about the passing
of Enhle but he wasn’t bothered, he didn’t care and he didn’t come
to the funeral. Bobo took a transfer and moved to Johannesburg to

start a new life so Enhle was the last thing in his mind he wanted to
forget she ever existed.

Lelo took her uncle to court and she won the case so her uncle had
to pay the money he stole from them. Her uncle is also working as a
teacher and this is his final year his going on pension because his
turning 60 years old so the court decided to take half of his pension
money and gave it to Lelo and Vumo to settle what he owes them.

a baby Boy, they named the Baby Qalokuhle. Sbani was so excited
and very happy he couldn’t stop screaming he called his mother to let
her know that he is now a father.

Sbani: I love you Lelothando you truly are a sent from heaven I can’t
imagine my life without you. You really are my peace. I am a father
today and it’s all thanks to you my wife I will forever be grateful.
