Content
Concept Mean, median, and mode are measures of central tendency. The mean is commonly
referred to as average. The median is the middle score of the ordered list. Mode refers to
the value with the highest frequency count.

Individual Activity: LET’S GATHER TOGETHER!
Directions:
A pair of students will be given 5 packs of nips for their data gathering.
After that, the following questions will be asked:

a. Are all the pieces of nips have the same color?


b. But, are there any pieces have the same color based on your data?

Group Activity: "LET’S PLAY WITH NUMBERS!"


2. Explore Directions:
(10 minutes) The whole class will be grouped into 3 groups (MEAN group, MEDIAN group & MODE
group). Each group will pick 7 random cards from a deck prepared by the teacher.
Out of those cards, MEAN group will add all the numbers and divide it with 7.
MEDIAN group will arrange their cards in an increasing or decreasing order and find the
middle card.
The MODE group will determine if there are cards having the same number regardless of
the flower.
Checking will proceed after all groups finish their task.

3. Explain After the activity, students will be asked by the following questions:
(10 minutes) a. How did you get the mean based on your activity?
b. What did you do to get the median?
c. Are there numbers which are repeated? What do we call that?
4.Elaborate Individual Activity: "IF OTHER’S CAN DO, WHY CAN’T I?"
(10 minutes)

Using the data, they have already gathered from the previous activity, they are going to
compute for the mean, median, and mode.

(7 minutes) Directions: Study and analyze the given data then show your answer properly.

The data below represents the number of COVID’19 Cases in Bantayan, Cebu based on
their official FB page.

Based on the total COVID’19 Cases, we assumed that the following barangays have these
number of cases (Please refer to the data below).

Learning Directions:
Enablement Ask the age of your parents, siblings, cousins, and other relatives. Write their names with
their age and let them affix their signature beside their age to prove that you really
interviewed them. You must gather at least 10 ages. After that, you calculate the mean,
median, and mode based from your own data. Write this on your assignment notebook.

Remarks In cases when the students cannot report to school due to natural calamities and
suspension of classes, the following activity can be performed within their Purok vicinity.
Directions:
Choose 10 families within your Purok. Interview the parent/s how many children they
have.

Compute for the mean, median and mode.


*In computing the mean, add all the number of children divided the number of families
from the gathered data.
*In computing the median, arrange in increasing order the number of children and
identify the middle number. In cases there are 2 middle numbers, add the two and
divided 2, the result is the median.
*In identifying the mode, find the most repeated number of children, that is the mode.
