Check circuit after engine shutdown (maximum time : 30 sec. ).

(7) Switch transfer pump ON (The associated red light should go off on the instrument panel).

(8) Set the starting power selector switch to “FLIGHT NORMAL”.

NOTE : The procedure is identical for starting of the second engine,

(9) After satisfactory engine starting, slowly advance the throttle control lever up to maximum
position where 94% rpm approximately should be obtained (Under no circumstances should
100% rpm be exceeded).

NOTE : This indicates correct operation of the overspeed governor.

(10) Decrease rpm to idle - Duration : 2 minutes (minimum).

Shut down the engine and check that flowmeter reads zero (see para. 6).

(11) Checks after &st engine start : Opening of cowlings

NOTE : The precautions to be taken for first engine start are also applicable to second
engine start.

(7) Proceed as instructed above to start the second engine.

5 - Exhaust gas temperature check and adjustment

- Remove the exhaust gas temperature indicator from its housing.

- Connect a disconnect box to the wires &om the thermocouples ; the aircraft U;T indicator and the
pyrometric tester (see chapter 77-20-I) will be connected in tum to the discozmect box.

- Select engine rpm as required to read 7OoOC on tester, then switch over to aircraft EGT indicator.

- The EGT reading should be between 690 and 710°C.

- If the difference is more than 10°C, try to bring the exhaust gas temperature back within the above
range by means of the aircraft EGT indicator adjustment screw (Take outside air temperature- into
account).

- If the exhaust gas temperatie coot be adjusted within the required range, change the aircraft
EGT indicator and check the exhaust gas temperature indicating line (see chapter 77-20-l).

6- Engine run-up

CAUTION : ENGINE RUN-UP MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH WHEELS PROPERLY CHOCKED OR

WITH AIRCRAFT TIED DOWN.

-EGT

-Fanrpm

- LP pressure

- Oil pressure

- Oil temperature

- Fuel flow

NOTE : Duration : 5 seconds maximum. Turn de-icing system off.

C - Move the throttle control lever to the take-off position (take-off check according to curve
established for EPR of the day) and check following parameters :

PARAMETERS ENG. 1 ENG. 2

-EPR

-FGT

- Gas generator rpm (94)

- Fan rpm (%)

- LP pressure

8 - Engine shutdown

A - Run the engine at idle rpm for about 2 minutes for cooling purposes,

NOTE : In an emergency the engine may be shut down i?om any operating position by returning
- the throttle control lever to “OFF”. If possible, watch engine deceleration in order to
detect any possible unusual noise.

B - Retard the throttle control lever to “OFF” and clock the engine run-down time,

C - When the gas generator has come to a stop, turn the LP pump and the transfer pump off. Check
for abnormal oil or fuel leaks.
A fuel quantity between 50 and 100 cc should flow &om the drain unit (door No.511) after the
throttle control lever has been brought back to the “OFF” position.

CAUTION : CLOSELY WATCH EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURE AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN. IF

IT EXCEEDS 260°C (500°F) AND STARTS lNCREASlNG, THIS IS AN INDICATION
OF FIRE INSIDE THE ENGINE. ENSURE THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL LEVER IS
IN THE “OFF” POSITION AND MOTOR THE ENGINE (BY MEANS OF THE STARTER)
UNTIL THE FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED (DRY VENTlLATION).

9 - Final steps (Aircraft remaining on ground)

A - Enter in the aircraft logbook any special remark regarding engine operation,

B - Service oil tank if necessary.

C - Install air intake and exhaust nozzle covers after the engine has cooled down
(30 minutes approximately).

D - Protect the engine against weather by keeping it covered during periods of non-operation.
