Procedure/ Discussion
Philippines has a rich folk song tradition which tells about the lives of the people in a particular community or region.
Farmers usually entertain themselves by singing songs while planting and harvesting.
Different Types of Vocal Music in Luzon
Folk Songs- usually sung in native dialects and the themes are based on the nature of works and traditions.
Liturgical and Devotional Songs- religious rites through dances and songs
Examples:
Secular Music- non-religious songs which reflect the impact of Spanish Colonization.
Kundiman- Filipino version of the classic art song which talks about the deep love of a person to another.

Elements of Music
1. Rhythm. It is the regular repeated pattern of sounds. It serves as the pulse of the musical composition. This element has
three components: beat, tempo and meter.
Tempo is the speed of the beat.
The meter, which composes of time signature is the combination of strong beats (accent) and weak beats.
2. Dynamics. It is about the softness and loudness of the music. This can be gradual (crescendo and decrescendo) or sudden /
abrupt.
3. Melody. It is the organized sequence (horizontal) of single notes. In other words, it is the main tune of the musical piece.
Harmony- is the simultaneous sounding of two or more notes.
4. Texture is all about the thickness of the sound.
5. Timbre is the quality of sound heard. If you and your friend sing “Bahay Kubo” in unison, you can easily distinguish each
other’s voice based on the quality of the sound of your voices.
6. Form. Is the combination of musical elements. (Binary, ternary)

Abaca- most popular in Bicol region. It comes from the abaca plant. According to the locals of Bicol region, it is
strong, shiny and sturdier the more it gets wet.

What is a textile?
The definition of textile is any material made of interlacing fibers, including carpet and geotextiles. Any woven or
knitted fabric is a textile.
Textiles stand alone as an unfinished product, or they can combine with other materials to create something
different.
Fabric is mainly an “ingredient” mixed with other materials, creating the finished product.

Are you physically active? Do you exercise? Your body is equipped with muscles, bones, and organs to keep it functioning
so that you can perform simple and complex physical tasks and movements.
Physical activity is defined as any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles which result in energy expenditure.
Exercise is defined as a subset of physical activity that is planned, structured, and repetitive.
Physical fitness is set of health- and skill-related fitness components that enable the body to perform daily tasks.
Health-related components pertain to the health of the general population, while skill-related components pertain to the
athletic abilities of selected population (athletes, varsity players, etc.)
Physical Fitness is the ability of the muscles to function effectively and efficiently without undue fatigue in work and daily
activities.
2. Recreational Activity- having a personal time to do activities that an individual love to do in spare time after doing their
normal daily routine.

Lesson 1 – I am Whole
Throughout life, a person continuously experiences growth and development. Health is beyond the physical body.
Holistic health means that it is complete and formed as a whole from different parts. It refers to the completeness of
health in different dimensions.
Physical dimension- encompasses the physical characteristics of a person.
Emotional dimension- focuses on how a person feels and reacts to his or her environment.
Mental dimension- describes a person’s cognitive functioning. This helps the person acquire new knowledge
and skills.
Social dimensions- encompasses the individual’s capacity to interact with other people.
Moral-spiritual dimensions- describes a person’s morals, beliefs, and practices.
Financial dimensions- focuses on how the person handles his or her resources in order to maintain health
condition.
Wellness refers to the healthy balance among the dimensions of health.
III. Enrichment
Holistic health is an approach to life. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, this approach to health
considers the whole person and how he or she interacts with his or her environment. It emphasizes the connection of mind, body and
spirit.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental or intellectual, emotional, social, moral-spiritual and environmental well-being. It
is not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
Health is the most important factor in our life. Live healthy in order to have a happy life. As they say health is wealth. Health is
important than having a million dollars in your bank account. Your health is more than enough for you to be considered a millionaire.
