Narrative Report

As part of my first semester in my first year of college, we are required to enroll our
National Service Training Program (NSTP) subject which is defined as, “a civic
administration and defense preparedness program for the Filipino tertiary education students
instituted by the government of the Philippines.”

INSERT MISSION AND VISION

I enrolled in all of the three NSTP programs. First, the Civic Welfare Training Service
(CWTS), are contributory to the general welfare and the betterment of life for the members of
the community or the enhancement of its facilities, especially those devoted to improving health,
education, environment, entrepreneurship, safety, recreation and morals of the citizenry. Second,
the Literacy Training Service (LTS), which is a design to train children and our citizen in
arithmetic and literacy skills. And third, the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC), aims
to provide military education and training for students to mobilize them for national defense
preparedness. Its specific objectives include preparation of college students for service in the
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the event of an emergency and their training to
become reservists and potential commissioned officers of the AFP.
From this subject, I learned that we don’t have the same outlook in life. We are all people
who ask so many questions about our life. We are all people who is living in a world full of
curiosity. NSTP provided me some values and points of view in my life. First, the value of
giving even if there’s nothing in return. Volunteering is multi-faceted in its importance to our
society. It develops our society, brings us together as a community, and helps keep businesses
and other organizations submerged. Volunteers are essential to our society. However, there’s
much more to being a volunteer than giving back. You can get so much out of volunteering.
Volunteering is a free way to feel good about yourself. The best part is that you get to share that
positivity to those you’re volunteering with. This feel good feeling is actually shown to reduce
your risk of depression because it keeps you active and helps you make new, fulfilling
connections with others.
Second, the value of love. We must give love to our brothers entirely. In my point of
view, I learned to care for what our country needs. Based on the surveys, the Philippines is one
of the countries that has large percentage of illiterate people. As a student of the NSTP I need to
provide the needs, not financially, to support each families to teach their members to love and
value each other for the progress of their lives.
I can still help my fellow countrymen in many ways. For me, helping others must be
unconditional. I found it to myself as a better person. I noticed that; I help other people without a
condition that they will help me also when I ask them, I help a person in times they need a help
even though they is not my relative, I respect the parents in every decision they made for me. I
recently noticed that I was more concern with the other people, about their life situation. NSTP
help me to realize everything, even my conscience. It makes me feel more responsible and more
concern in our environment.
You must love others as how do you love yourself. You must love others as how they
love you as a person. You must love others because of their kindness, generosity and patience.
You must love others because that love is a love which came from your deepest heart. What ever
will I do for them, I always put my love.
NSTP is not only a subject but also it is a great adventure to take into. You will
experience here some great emotions like fun and enjoyment. Without NSTP, our life in college
is boring or dull. There we experience to give, to respect, and to teach each one of us to the other
person. To love, to communicate, to volunteer, to participate, to care and to give importance.
If there would be a subject for good word, I will recommend this subject for other future college
students who would enroll to this class. NSTP taught me such many lessons in life. I thank NTSP
for making my first year in college a bit of happy and contented.
