Feminism Has Been Monopolized by Privileged Sections Of Society.

Feminism is a range of social , political movements, and ideologies that aim to define and

establish the political, economic, personal, and social equality of the sexes. A privilege is a
right or advantage gained by birth, social position, effort, or concession. And not having
your rights endangered due to sex race caste religion etc

This movement for gender equality is increasingly entangled with neoliberalism, which has
mobilised feminism to advance political goals and enhance market value.

those who conduct and gain from research continue to be predominately cis-heterosexual,
upper-caste, middle-class, able-bodied women.

So long as we continue to stare into the glittery light of the latest celebrity feminist, we
avoid looking at the very real inequities that women throughout the world continue to face.
We avoid having the difficult conversations about the pay gap and the all-too-often sexist
music we listen to and the movies we watch that tell women’s stories horribly (if at all) and
the limited reproductive freedom women are allowed to exercise and the pervasive sexual
harassment and violence too many women face.

There exists the exclusion of marginalized voices including include communitites like
Women, people with disabilities, Dalits, Aged people, poor, the downtrodden, etc.
feminism may hold a different meaning for rural Indian women who struggle to
access necessities like food, healthcare and education. Issues like equal pay and
reclaiming public spaces will mean little to them.  The issue of a ‘digital-divide’
continues to be a concern for cyberfeminism. The gap between those with and
without digital access, creates a rift in the idea of a ‘universal’ cyberfeminist
movement.
White feminism is a form of feminism that focuses on the struggles of white women while
failing to address distinct forms of oppression faced by ethnic minority women and women
lacking other privileges.[1] .[2] Arundhati Roy once said: “There’s no such thing as the
voiceless, only the deliberately silenced and the preferably unheard.”
realising that feminism isn’t about “saving” women from the global south, it’s actually
about learning from them as true equals in a shared struggle.  When I say feminism has
been hijacked by white women, I mean Third world women’ are often seen as a
‘powerless’ victimised group in comparison to liberated Western feminists.

Most privileged feminists ignore intersectional feminism which is the understanding of

how women's overlapping identities — including race, class, ethnicity, religion and sexual
orientation — impact the way they experience oppression and discrimination.to explain thru
an example. A white woman is penalized by her gender but has the advantage of race. A
black woman is disadvantaged by her gender and her race. A Latin lesbian experiences
discrimination because of her ethnicity, her gender and her sexual orientation.

The transphobia revolving around feminists is scary. online roots of the term TERF which is
anti trans radical feminists originated in the late 2000s. They now prefer to call themselves
“gender critical,” a euphemism akin to white supremacists calling themselves “race
realists.” Gender-critical feminists blame the patriarchy for deluding trans men into thinking
they can identify out of female oppression, or blame structural homophobia for convincing
trans men they can become straight men rather than lesbians.

Many high-class feminists refuse to acknowledge the need to break gender roles also in
some ways leading to toxic masculinity.Considering all the points above, one can say that
feminism has become the monopoly of the privileged in today’s society.
