In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher
are also provided to our facilitators and parents for strategies and

Sisters
Dante C. Sarosad
Shane and Kate are sisters. Shane is nine years old while Kate
is eight. Mother Sue and Father Luke train their children to
become responsible. They believe that the development of good
values starts at home.
Shane and Kate wake up early and help their parents do the
household chores. Shane waters the plants while Kate helps their
mother cooks rice and prepare food.
Though it is vacation, they never forget to study their lessons.
They love reading, writing, and drawing. When they grow up, they
want to become teachers like their parents. They want to help the
children to have a bright future.

Key Points
The words Jane and vase are spelled with a in the
middle and end with e. They are pronounced with a
long /ā/ sound as in rake, pale, and same.
The words Mike, like, ride, and bike are spelled with
i in the middle and end with e. They are pronounced
with a long /ī/ sound as in ice, time, and kite.
The word Hope is spelled with letter o in the middle
and ends with letter e. It is pronounced with a long /ō/
