The passage discusses the present simple tense, including how it is used, rules for forming the third person singular, and examples of expressions used with it such as frequency adverbs.

The present simple tense is used to talk about habits, regular actions, general truths and permanent situations. Some examples given are 'He visits his friends every Sunday' and 'The sun rises in the East'.

To form the third person singular, we typically add -s to the base verb form. However, for verbs ending in -ss, -sh, -ch, -x or -o, we add -es instead. And for verbs ending in consonant + y, we change the y to ies.
