ASIA

• Asia is the biggest continent, and it


has the most people – it is very
crowded in some parts of Asia!
• Giant Pandas live in China and eat
bamboo
• A cool place to visit in Asia is the
Great Wall of China – it is the
largest structure ever built by man

• Asia being the largest of the continents covers around one-third of the world’s total land
area. Asia is known for its vast size and incomparable character.
• There are 48 countries in Asia
• Most people are Chinese, Indian, Japanese or Arab
• North Asia is also known as Siberia. It is extremely cold.
• The Pacific, Arctic and Indian oceans all surround Asia.
• China is the largest country in East Asia, China is the most populous country in the world.
• Central Asia is made up of deserts, mountains and plateaus.
• The Middle East is a part of South Asia, the 3 continents of Asia, Africa and Europe meet
here.
• The Himalayas are also a part of South Asia – this is home to Mt Everest.

• Africa is the second largest of the continents, covers around 22% of the world’s land area. The Equator intersects it and the
expansive landmass covers the Sahara, which is the world’s largest desert, and the Nile, the longest river on earth.

• Africa is comprised of 55 countries and 9 territories. Over 1.2 Billion people live in Africa.

• Africa is home to safari parks, deserts, savannah grasslands, jungles and tropical rainforests.

• Africa makes up 22% of the world’s mass.

• Africa is famous for its many different animals such as elephants, giraffes, monkeys, cheetahs, hyenas, lions, zebras, rhinoceros’ and
hippopotamus’.

• Africa is also home to the Nile River, the worlds longest river, and Lake Victoria, the second largest lake in the world.

• There are over 1,000 recognised languages in Africa and the religions include Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism and other
traditional African religions.

• This continent is basically divided into three regions, which are the Northern Plateau, the Central Southern Plateau, and
the Eastern Highlands. This includes plains, swampy coastal regions, lush tropical forests with Savannah’s and hilly plateaus
inland.

• North America is cold in the north


and warm in the south

• North America is the third largest continent by land mass and the fourth largest by
population.
• North America is around twice the size of Europe. America has irregular coastline with
many prominent offshore islands, including Greenland, which is the largest island in the
world.
• North America consists of twenty four countries, the largest by land mass being Canada.
• North America is home to over five hundred million people.
• The most populated city in North America is Mexico City, Mexico, where there are almost
nine million people currently residing.
• The first North Americans are believed to be of Asian descent by crossing from North East
Asia
• North America is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean in the east, the Pacific Ocean in the west,
the Arctic Ocean to the north, and both the Panama Canal and South America to the South
SOUTH AMERICA

• South America is a warm

• People there speak mostly

• The biggest country is Brazil,
where people love to play

• The Amazon rainforest is in
South America
• South America is the fourth largest continent of the world although it contains less
than 12% of the world’s population.
• South America includes the following countries:Venezuela, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia,
Suriname, Brazil, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Guyana, and Ecuador.
• The majority of the population lives in the coastal regions.
• The Western region of the continent is home to the Andes mountain ranges.
• South America contains the highest volume river, the Amazon, the longest mountain
range, the Andes, and the driest area on the planet, the Atacama Desert.
• South America is home to some of the most fascinating animals such as the anaconda,
llama, jaguar, tapir, vicuna, and piranha
• Most South Americans speak Spanish or Portuguese
ANTARCTICA

• Antarctica is the coldest

• No people live in Antarctica,
but some scientists visit to
study the weather or animals
there
• Many kinds of penguins live in
Antarctica
EUROPE
• Southern Europe boasts highlands and mountains, while
Northern Europe is very flat
• Europe is the second smallest continent by surface area
• Europe is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the
Atlantic Ocean to the west, and the Caspian,
Mediterranean, and Black Seas to the south
• The currency ‘Euro’ is used in 18 countries inside Europe
• On every continent of the world, one can find large
populations of Europeans.
