Address: Barangay Sto. Niňo, Tanauan Leyte

Work Assignment: Plant Maintenance, Bottling Inspection, Inventory, Paper Works

Supervisor/Manager: Chrislyn Esperas, HR Manager

Internship Activities:

As we started our internship in PCPPI the activities that we did daily is to arrange the documents
in the manufacturing office, check the bulbs, air conditioners, boilers, do bottling inspection,
check the bearings in the shop for inventory, and pick-up the ordered materials in VES
Marketing. We also participated the Clean-up Drive Activity in Tanauan Leyte that is hosted by
the PCPPI and the Fire and Earthquake Drill that has been conducted inside the plant.

Problems Encountered:

Sometimes I arrive late in the plant due to the long distance transportation from Tacloban proper
to PCPPI. And that is the only problem I encountered during my training period.

Reflection:

The first month of our OJT was tough and at the same time exiciting. Being able to comprehend
and embrace the substancial atmosphere of a working environment was smooth because of how
other employees made it easy for us. I realized that a team effort constitute to a productive
organization. It does not only about the structural composition of the organization but innate
condition of every person who contitutes a special duty that cements an institution.

To come to duly worthy of trust from superordinate was essential. It was challenging at first, but
the moment they rely and shows confidence placed on me. I felt that it was something that co-
workers should do for each other -to trust colleagues because we are a team. We were just
trainees but I realized that trust and respect were equally given despite of our position. So,
workers built with characters, trained their hearts and minds for this kind of working
environment.

I realized how professionalism works w/ friends and colleagues despite of differences in position
and stability. We formed a family in the institution but work ethiquette is the dominating state
present in every situation under given circumstances. Accepting criticism and correcting
inappropriate act is part of growing as professionals. It should not be taken badly but rather as an
instrument to hammer myself as an individual.

December is a busy month for Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines Incorporated (PCPPI) and I
learned how time management is an efficient and productive way to do duty despite of bustling
schedule and rush activities. This organization taught me to be time oriented starting from
coming to work everyday down to the last schedule of overtime at night. It does not only
challenge my mind but also my physical state to be on going at all times.

It has been five months and I learned so much from PCPPI. Every employee is training us to be
future ready as a worker in any firm. They don't just give instructions and work loads but they
give you a chance to build a sense of responsibility as thier traines. It helps our mind works and
be physically ready to every situations under given anay circumtance. It shows how this
company molds their OJT's as they want them to be , someone who has the elements of a good
worker/employee.

Throughout the months, I rendered my service to this company and I applied everything I have
learned from the simple work ethics up to the critical matthers. This company has an effective
way of pulling out the best in every employee that make up the whole organization. Realizing
how effective this OJT to me as a student and a future employee is very essential.

the core values they been practicing through out the years that made them great in the industry.
As a trainee, I always look up how they translate work into a habit of enjoying their duty.
Reflecting upod on how good work turns into a profitable act. I learned that in life instead of
working too hard, you should work smart. Practically being wise and doing good work is the
summation of succes in a company.

“A Reflection Paper on COVID-19 Pandemic”

Everything was fine. We have had our ups and downs. We continue to live life

until a virus came. The virus is initially thought to be natural and nonthreatening. The

first known infections were in China. A study reported that the earliest date of onset of
DEPARTMENT OF THE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT TECHNOLOGY

symptoms as 1st of December 2019. Information about the spreading of this virus in

China first aired in Philippine television late of December 2019. We weren’t expecting

for any of these to get worst.

We just had our New Year celebration when news of virus infections in China

seems serious. The virus is called Coronavirus Disease ‘19 (COVID-19). It is a highly

transmittable and pathogenic viral infection caused by severe acute respiratory

syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 spreads primarily when people are in close contact and

on person inhales small droplets produced by an infected person (symptomatic or not)

coughing, sneezing, talking and even singing. The said virus reached the Phillipines on

the 30th day of January 2020, when the Philippine Department of Health reported the

first case of COVID-19 in the country with a 38-year-old female Chinese national. On

the 7th day of March, the first local transmission of COVID-19 was confirmed and the

numbers of positive cases continues to rise as of writing this reflection. World Health

Organization (WHO) is working closely with the Department of Health in responding to

the COVID-19 outbreak.

Even when things seem like they can’t get any worse, well they can. Just like

the deadly coronavirus which after how many months become a pandemic is

continuously spreading around the world right now and taking thousands of people’s

lives. Because of this public health crisis, on the 3 rd month of the year, the Philippine

Government implemented Community Quarantines of different levels in the different

regions to contain the outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines.

We, Filipinos, are known to be closely related to each other. We tend to show

love in many different ways. Unfortunately, one of the guidelines made by the
DEPARTMENT OF THE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT TECHNOLOGY

goverment to stop the spreading virus, is to keep ourselves distanced from each other,

a meter away. Borders were closed, classes were suspended, going out were

discouraged, social gatherings were prohibited, and any other means possible for the

virus to spread were restrained.

For all of the guidelines, each one of us is really affected. I’m about to

graduate and I‘m just finishing my practicum when officials ordered to suspend schools.

I can’t even imagine my life to be in this kind of situation. I can’t go outside as much as I

want. I can’t go to another city to visit my relatives because boundaries were closed.

Access to food is kind of difficult. There are three of us in our house, my father, sister

and I. We decided that the family’s Quarantine Pass holder would be me. As I would go

outside and do the market, I should be wearing a mask, sanitizing my hand, and

keeping distanced from others. And this is the very first time in my whole life I would be

doing it. We are like living with fears to the things around us. We just don’t know what

might happen when we hug or just be near with each other. We are fighting over

something which we cannot see.

In the midst of this pandemic, frontliners are our heroes. And I am proud to

say that I am one of them. I applied as a part-time rider in Whizbox that is located at

Barangay 92 Apitong, Tacloban City. We accept bill payments, parcel delivery, pick-ups,

grocery, and food delivery. It’s not easy to be in this kind of job knowing the risks to my

own health and safety but through this I will be able to help my fellow Taclobanons. I’m

rendering service to give them door-step needs. Saving and keeping other people’s

lives safe is worth more than anything I could ask for.

Four months have passed since March, we are still under quarantine. Over
DEPARTMENT OF THE HOTEL AND RESTAURANT TECHNOLOGY

the months, I’ve learned that self-discipline is a must. Even though how much eager you

are to have parties like before or even go out and have fun, you have to restrict yourself

and think to be safe. You don’t want to be the reason bringing virus to your home, right?

Times like these tests our cooperativeness to each other, to the government and to the

new rules. Thinking of what have happened, on the negative side the virus is killing a lot

of people, but on the positive side, we just let the world rest. There are no factories

emitting harmful gasses and liquid wastes and traffic of vehicles along the road causing

noise and air pollution. Being at home and having no work to think of, it gives us more

time to ourselves, our family and to our God. We have the time to be closer to our

Almighty Saviour.

COVID-19 is still a pandemic. Year 2020 is not yet done and there are still 6

months to experience a good year. Let us pray that this pandemic will end soon. For

now, let us all stay at home and be safe. One thing is for sure, everything happens for a

reason.
