I. SPECIFIC PARTS OF THE EUROPEAN TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT

1 Technical description of the product

1) K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC is a sealant used to form linear gap seals where gaps are present in wall and
floor constructions and linear joint seals where wall and floor constructions abut.

2) The K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC is supplied in liquid form contained within 310 & 380 ml cartridges and
600 ml foil packs. The sealant is gunned into the aperture in the separating element/elements and
around the service or services, to a specified depth utilising mineral fibre insulation backing material.

3) K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC contains no carcinogenic substances or mutagenic substances, flame

retardants or antimicrobiological agents.

4) The applicant has submitted a written declaration that K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC does not contain
substances which have to be classified as dangerous according to Directive 67/548/EEC and
Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 and listed in the "Indicative list on dangerous substances" of the EGDS
- taking into account the installation conditions of the construction product and the release scenarios
resulting from there.

In addition to the specific clauses relating to dangerous substances contained in this European
technical Assessment, there may be other requirements applicable to the products falling within its
scope (e.g. transposed European legislation and national laws, regulations and administrative
provisions). In order to meet the provisions of the Construction Products Regulation, these
requirements need also to be complied with, when and where they apply.

5) The use catagory of K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC in relation to BWR 3 (Hygiene, health and environment) is
IA1, S/W3

2 Specification of the intended uses of the product in accordance with the applicable European Assessment
Document (Hereinafter EAD): ETAG 026-3

Detailed information and data is given in Annex A.

The intended use of system K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC is to reinstate the fire resistance performance of gaps
in and joints in and between flexible wall and rigid wall constructions, gaps in and joints between rigid
floor constructions.

1) The specific elements of construction that the system K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC may be used to
provide a gap or joint seal in are as follows:

Flexible walls: The wall must have a minimum thickness of 75 mm and comprise steel studs
lined on both faces with minimum 1 layer of 12.5 mm thick boards. The wall is
permitted with or without insulation material between the boards.
Rigid walls: The wall must have a minimum thickness of 150 mm and comprise concrete,
aerated concrete or masonry, with a minimum density of 650 kg/m3.
Rigid floors: The floor must have a minimum thickness of 150 mm and comprise aerated
concrete or concrete with a minimum density of 650 kg/m3.

The supporting construction must be classified in accordance with EN 13501-2 for the required
fire resistance period.

2) The system K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC may be used to provide a linear joint or gap seal with specific
supporting constructions and substrates (for details see Annex A).

3) The maximum permitted joint/gap width for system K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC is 100 mm.

ETA 17/1047 of 21/12/2017 – Page 3 of 11

4) The maximum movement capability of system K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC is ≤ 7.5%

5) The provisions made in this European Technical Assessment are based on an assumed working
life of the K-FLEX K-FIRE ACRYLIC of 30 years, provided that the conditions laid down in sections
4.2/5.1/5.2 for the packaging/transport/ storage/installation/use/repair are met. The indications
given on the working life cannot be interpreted as a guarantee given by the producer, but are to
be regarded only as a means for choosing the right products in relation to the expected
economically reasonable working life of the works.

6) Type Z2: Intended for uses in internal conditions with humidity lower than 85 % RH excluding
temperatures below 0°C, without exposure to rain or UV.

This certificate relates to the use of K-Fire Acrylic for fire stopping where there are joints in or between walls & floors or service
penetrations through floors and walls. The detailed scope is given in pages 3 to 43 of this Certificate. This shows the thickness and
acceptable dimensions, substrates and orientations required to provide fire resistance periods of up to 240 minutes for differing
services and wall/floor constructions.

The product is certificated on the basis of:

i) Inspection and surveillance of factory production control by UL

ii) Fire resistance test data in accordance with EN 1366-3 and 1366-4
iii) Classification in accordance with EN 13501-2
iv) Durability and Serviceability as defined in EAD 350141-00-1106*

* K-Fire Acrylic sealant has been tested in accordance with BS EN ISO 8339: 2005 and BS EN ISO 9046: 2004 to demonstrate its
suitability for use in internal conditions with humidity lower than 85 % RH, excluding temperatures below 0°C, without exposure
to rain or UV. These conditions are designated Z2 in EAD 350454-00-1104, September 2017 and EAD 350141-00-1106.

The movement capability of K-Fire Acrylic joint seals is restricted to ≤ 7.5%

K-Fire Acrylic is a sealant used to form a penetration seal around metallic pipes with and without combustible insulation, plastic
pipes, combustible cable conduits, composite pipes and electrical cables to reinstate the fire resistance performance of wall and
floor constructions, where they have been provided with apertures for the penetration of services. It is also used to form linear gap
seals where gaps are present in wall and floor constructions and linear joint seals where wall and floor constructions abut.

K-Fire Acrylic is supplied in liquid form contained within 310 ml & 380 ml cartridges and 600 ml foil packs. The sealant is
gunned into the aperture in the separating element/elements and around the service or services, to a specified depth utilising a
backing material.

Data Sheets and Safety Sheet
K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC
DESCRIPTION
K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC is a water based acrylic sealant designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through joints
and openings in fire rated walls and floors including openings formed around building service penetrations.
K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC will also maintain the acoustic design performance in walls and floors.
K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC cures when it is subjected to atmospheric conditions, however it will retain a degree of elasticity
for joint movement.
Under fire exposure, K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC creates a robust fire seal by the formation of a durable intumescent char.
K-FLEX FIRE ACRYLIC can be used with a suitable filling material, i.e. stone wool in order to secure correct width to
depth ratio and to reduce the shrinking of the sealant during curing. Minimum depth and maximum width of the joints are
included in the installation instructions.
Thermal activation takes place at about 180°C when the material will expand (intumesce) and prevent the passage of fire
and smoke for periods up to and beyond 4 hours.

CHARACTERISTICS AND FEATURES

- High end formula;
- Classified for fire sealing all types of constructions and building service penetrations;
- Very high sound insulation;
- Low emissions - environmentally and user friendly;
- Simple to apply with a smooth surface finish;
- Permanently flexible – will accommodate movement up to 7.5%;
- No priming necessary for application to most materials;
- Suitable for most surfaces, including concrete, bricks, Leca, steel, gypsum, glass and most non-porous surfaces;
- Hardens quickly, tack free after 1 hour (fire performance specification after one month cure);
- Minimum 12 months storage time (under correct conditions).
